Germany's USK: Braid jumping, running to PS3

Jonathan Blow's time-manipulating puzzle-platformer, Braid, is probably best associated with Xbox 360. According to a listing on Germany's USK ratings board website (discovered by NeoGAF user Fortinbras), though, the game -- which falls under the organization's fancifully named "Jump 'n Run" category -- is finally headed to PlayStation 3.
Blow talked about the possibility of a PS3 version almost a year ago, saying that it could happen after a "limited exclusive" with Microsoft had ended. There's no indication when our #5 game of 2008 will hit PSN, though it seems it will come via its PC publisher, Hothead Games. We've contacted Blow for more info; hopefully his answer comes running 'n jumping back to us soon.

I guess they got excited about the upcoming pricedrop.
TMGE_rock @ Jul 31st 2009 5:20PM
Too late, played it on PC ^^
Amazing game though!

I need to ask this, joystiq have you guys played any of the good PSN games? You know Pixel junk monsters? Pixel junk eden? Flower? Super star dust HD? Because I have braid on my 360, yes its an amazing game and really by far the best game on XBLA (I like castle crashers as well), but how can you put BRAID over those games? Im tired of reviewers constantly not caring about PSN titles when they are some of the most innovative and unique games available today.
Hydrophobicfish @ Jul 31st 2009 5:28PM
Flower came out in 2009, and I'm pretty sure Stardust was 2007.
Monsters, and Eden are good... but even though I'm probably what one would consider a Sony Fanboy... Braid is better, it really is one of the best games of 2008. I'd say it's probably the best digital distribution game of 2008.
coyo t @ Jul 31st 2009 7:57PM
I agree, flower is an incredible work of Art
Whisperkill @ Jul 31st 2009 11:55PM
...but Braid IS better than those games, and stardust is nowhere near as awesome as Geo Wars 2

With Braids lack of story (personally i think story which you need to leave to interpretation are horrible) its not on my to get list. Not to say the core game play is bad but they should have taken the story out to make the game better, just a puzzle game.
If anyones seen Eraserhead, that sadly makes more sense then Braid.
CrossTheAtlantic @ Aug 2nd 2009 7:35PM
Ummmmm, but Eraserhead is amazing.

tmac 2 weeks ago at Joystiq: "blah blah... Joystiq hyping indie games like Braid and Scribblenauts... shitty games... blah blah"
tmac 2 minutes ago at Gamestop: "I can haz some PSN cards, please?"
Hardcore @ Jul 31st 2009 5:47PM
Why you so angry....If his statement really bothers you, there is vote down.
Besides; you are fanboy yourself, hating anything related to Sony

Ugh, it was so peaceful w/o you. When did you start coming back?
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 31st 2009 7:16PM
Am I missing something here? I still hate Braid btw, and scribblenauts.
el serpiente @ Jul 31st 2009 7:57PM
Fernando is just sharing his dream diary with us.
Fortunately for us, he left out the next part where tmac builds him a fire and holds him gently while they stare at the night sky, wondering what will be.

It seems nothing is truly exclusive anymore. I'm not complaining but it just seems like a waste of time really.
Paul @ Jul 31st 2009 5:26PM
huh...well I'm looking forward to it.

I saw this game on my bud's Xbox and he played it for a bit and let me help out. We had some good fun with it. I'll probably hop in a gamesharing group when it comes out.
Do I think it's better than something like PixelJunk Monsters or Wipeout HD? No, but their all different genres so it's a little difficult to compare them. It's all preference for me and I just find those games to be more interesting.
Hydrophobicfish @ Jul 31st 2009 5:29PM
I bought Braid for my Xbox, and if it comes to PS3, I'll be rebuying it. (just like that I bought Castle Crashers, and it's coming to PS3, I'll rebuy that too).
Just add some stuff onto both of them, so they're not just ports, and you'll have my $15 again (each game)
Funny thing, I pretty much bought my xbox exclusively for Braid and Castle Crashers. If only I had waited a year!...
Juande @ Jul 31st 2009 5:45PM
Oh, well grats to the PS3 people. Braid is one of my fav arcade games, maybe Ill also buy it on PS3.
kentuckyfried @ Jul 31st 2009 5:54PM
Good, very good. I have a 360 but didn't bother picking up Braid with the plethora of other games available (I need to get started on Bionic Commando now that trophies are finally out).
NotSoSilentBob @ Jul 31st 2009 6:04PM
And 360 loses even more content.
freaparn @ Jul 31st 2009 6:29PM
Yeah, I hear John Blow comes over to your house, smacks you on the muzzle with a newspaper, and rips the Braid right off your hard drive.
leo @ Jul 31st 2009 6:38PM
how did the 360 lose content?
The1stMJC @ Jul 31st 2009 7:18PM
idiot they still have the game they didn't lose anything. Just now more people can enjoy the game.
Ashitaka @ Jul 31st 2009 7:46PM
Yeah, make fun of his choice of words xD
Still, what he said is true, this is yet another blow (ehe) to the 360's list of exclusives.
Paul @ Jul 31st 2009 6:48PM
you're both wrong....

So this is yet another XBLA "exclusive" yes I know it's on PC, but for the benefit of the doubt I'll say exclusive much Gears of War 1, Left 4 Dead games, Mass Effect games, 360 people like to say exclusives for those games [Even though it's obviously playable on PC] but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since they like to argue against it, so yes Braid is an "exclusive" if you use 360 fanboy logic.
Anyways, another "exclusive" lost I guess.
My little brother has this game on his 360 and it's pretty good and innovative.
Shadow Hog @ Jul 31st 2009 9:06PM
"Jump 'n' Run"? How about "Platformer"?
Then again, remember when a lot of the genres were 'em ups? Shoot 'em ups, Beat 'em ups, and some magazines were even dumb enough to have things like "race 'em ups" (IIRC)...
Peter @ Jul 31st 2009 9:19PM
Yeah, I remember Splinter Cell being a Sneak'em up a few years ago, what genre is it now? Modern Tactical Stealth Action Game?
Janichsan @ Aug 1st 2009 8:50AM
'...the organization's fancifully named "Jump 'n Run" category...'
'"Jump 'n' Run"? How about "Platformer"?'
That's what platformers are called in Germany. Get used to it.

Come to papa
scratch @ Jul 31st 2009 11:31PM

evilsaywhat @ Jul 31st 2009 11:36PM
I bought my 360 for Geometry wars! I think I play more XBLA than any of the retail games I buy.
bkalasin @ Aug 1st 2009 12:18AM
Rod Strong?
funkyellowmonkey(ps3 id) @ Aug 1st 2009 7:34AM
Good stuff, i missed out the discount of Braid back on 360, i hardly play 360 now days too, so yeah nice for it to be on PS3, sooner than expected! :)
