Seriously! "After listening to numerous different animal sounds, I would pick the ones that struck me as fitting, even if it was just a little ... as a result, I used a pig's cry as a base for this cry," Sakata wrote on developer Platinum Games' website. But don't go thinking that crow's going to sound like a porker, as Sakata heavily mixed the pig cry with a slurry of other sounds. To see the massive bird in action -- and to hear its baritone stylings -- hit the break.
Madness: Bayonetta's crow ... is really a pig!

We appreciate Bayonetta sound designer Daisuke Sakata's position on the project. The man spends hours sifting through sound clips from an endless stream of animals to get the scream of the game's giant crow just right. And wouldn't you know it, after going through a gauntlet of bird cries, the best sound he settled on for the giant crow was derived from the cry of a ... pig?

If you listen carefully you can hear the grunty squeal of a piggy in there, kinda like the pig noise from the original warcraft games

Oh, I agree, he probably worked his fingers to the bone for a whole 2-3 minutes before it reached that "greatly altered" state. Quick search on youtube brings up a hog video with pretty much the exact same noise.

Flying boar from the nickelodeon show Avatar? That's what I first thought of. For those who haven't watched that show don't over look it just cause it's nickelodeon it really is a great show. Anyway back on topic if you listen really closely you can hear the pig. My friend works in sound design and turned the barks and howls of a dog into the sounds of a dragon. Can't wait for this game. I've also been playing a lot of DMC lately.

There's flying boars in Avatar? You sure you aren't thinking of Bison?
PS: The movie adaptation of that show is going to be awesome.

Yeah I was thinking of the flying boar the symbol of Toph's family. Saw about the movie too. Not too happy with the cast but as long as the movie is good. Pus the creators helped write the script for the movie too.

Anyone who doesn't think a pig scream could be the base sound of a demented raven has obviously never heard a pig scream. It is, quite honestly, a sound that goes deep into your soul and rattles it. Terrifying, actually. And while the little ones are loud and high-pitched, you hear a 1,000 sow screaming for her life and you'll never quite be the same. Think a rabbit scream but 1,000 times more disturbing.

Could someone please tell me what the hell that circular object is on her chest? It really bothers me because it looks weird and off-center.
