Sega reports $150 million dip in sales for Q1 2010
Sega Sammy Holdings, Inc. has released its Q1 2010 financial earnings report, which covers the period from April 1, 2009 through June 30, 2009. The document shows that the company saw a ¥14.139 billion ($150 million) decline in sales over Q1 2009. Specifically, Sega reported first-quarter sales of ¥60.461 billion ($639M) as opposed to ¥74.6 billion ($789M) for the same period in FY 2009.
The publisher's figures show that, in addition to changes in its pachislot business, a smaller number of home console releases contributed to the decline. Sega released 37 titles across all platforms during Q1 2009, but only 17 for Q1 2010. Still, it projects total software sales to be up ¥230 million ($2.4M) for FY 2010.

Here's a thought:
RELEASE A DAMN NEAR PERFECT SONIC GAME!!!!!!!!
freaparn @ Jul 31st 2009 6:21PM
Let's set realistic goals: Release a Sonic game that has a premise which *isn't* inspired by horrific internet fanfiction.
Captain Planet @ Jul 31st 2009 6:28PM
Or they could just turn down the general suck on ALL their titles.
TC @ Jul 31st 2009 6:36PM
Well unfortunately, as a long time Sega fan, the way they're whoring out Sonic at the moment the next game will be 'Sonic: Crystal Pole Dancer Adventure' with tacked on motion controls for Mario and Kirby to throw dollar bills at Sonic while he weeps and shakes his ass-spike for them. A hidden sub-game will depict Mario raping the entire back catalog of Genesis Sonic games, thus permanently tarnishing my teenage memories of lording over SNES owners.

I was a die hard Sonic fan...until this crap came out...Sonic Heroes for me was the last decent game there is released in a home console...now we are getting guns, werehog, swords, riding with those "boards" in Riders and other types of unneeded crap.
Sonic needs to die. His games are not good anymore. If Mario gets a sword and starts slashing like Sonic and the BK, and Luigi starts shooting with guns, please shoot me. Because that will never happen with Nintendo.
But with Sega and Sonic...anything can happen. We may in future will see him in a dress or him transforming in to a fish.
Sorry if I'm coming hard here, but it's true. I know Sonic in the 90's will not return ever again but PLEASE make decent Sonic games that I can finally enjoy. Otherwise, Sonic must die.
*Holds up Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection* Love this.

Decent Sonic games are already here. Anything else is fiction.

BUY VALKIRIA CHRONICLES BITCHES!!!
WINterfang @ Jul 31st 2009 10:20PM
Are you the same Samantha from Gamefaqs? because if you like Sonic Chronicles ( the worst Sonic game this game) over Sonic Unleashed your opinion doesn't count.
Quattro @ Aug 1st 2009 12:14AM
I already bought Valkyria Chronicles, and I was disappointed.

Well, in all fairness, there was a point in time when the idea of Sega ending up like this would be laughable. Of course, Nintendo has no equal, and their games always sell tremendously regardless of their console userbase (check out their N64/GCN library; nothing but high sales), but who is to say it can't happen?
Of course, if Nintendo ever reaches the failure that is Sega, then I might as well quit gaming because it wouldn't be worth it anymore.

J-Link @ Jul 31st 2009 7:33PM
Man, I feel sorry for SEGA, they used to be one of the big players and now look at these losses. Atleast, besides a few sonic games, they still release some quality games.
dqham @ Jul 31st 2009 11:45PM
If they would just hire Ryan Dru........ never mind.
ecco6t9 @ Aug 1st 2009 2:49AM
They just need to dump Sammy.
MarioSpitza @ Aug 1st 2009 5:26PM
Dump Sammy? My friend, Sammy was the one who bought Sega.
Mr Mobius - the wandering artist @ Aug 1st 2009 10:56AM
Are they still in profit though? That's the important thing in these times.
ignfan69 @ Aug 1st 2009 4:25PM
