Yeah the 2K series cannot compare to NHLXX series whatsoever especially if were using 2009 as a comparison.

I agree with you. 2k is a joke compared to EA's.. for 2009.
NHL 2k2, 3 all the way to 7 were better. 8 is debatable, and 2K9 sucked.
This looks really good, we'll have to see how it plays. I just simply wasn't a fan of how 2k9 played whatsoever.

2K7 was terrible on PS3, the buzzer would get stuck on all the time, ruined the game. although the 2K games are cheaper, I got 2K9 for 39.99 as opposed to 09 for 59.99 at launch (still wasn't worth it).

If they wanted to make a trailer that would hook in hockey fans (who will probably be the main consumers of the game), they probably shouldn't have used the goal that A.O. was ridiculed for showboating (the pretending his stick is on fire thing).
Also, even though I am not a fan of Ovie, he has many more impressive goals against way better teams than the Phoenix Coyotes. I don't think it's would surprise any hockey fan that he was able to score a goal on his back against the Coyotes.

Hey leave our crappy franchise alone. It's not like we have much going for us in the sports department... at all. AZ is the self proclaimed kid you don't pick on because it's just too easy and sad. We have more Patriots fans than Cardinals fans... unless they find out we're going to the superbowl, then there are plenty of instant converts.

How could you NOT like Ovechkin?
Also the only person who genuinely cared about that celebration was Don Cherry, and that man is nuts no matter how you look at it.
I love Ovechkin and think he brings much needed emotion and flare to the game, hockey in general is failing in the US, if we had more superstars like Ovechkin, this would not be the case.
Also that goal was fucking amazing.

I wrote a longer answer, but was in the login/submit box and lost it.
Basically, yes the goal is awesome, but what I really meant is that he has some other impressive goals against much better teams. Nevertheless, when I first saw the goal I was very impressed.
Also I didn't like how they used the showboating from a goal he scored this season because: 1. He was criticized for it by players, coaches, and commentators across the NHL 2. I like goal celebrations (a goal is very hard to score), but I don't want them to ever get to the level of NFL celebrations.
As for Tofupancho, I am very sorry that the AZ sports franchises, but I live in Colorado and we don't have that much going for us currently either. There was a huge Rockies bandwagon a couple of years ago, and then they got slaughtered by the Red Sox, and it happened again for the Nuggets this year, and the Lakers killed them. Plus the Broncos and Avs are just terrible right now. I was actually curious how you feel about the fact that they Coyotes might be leaving in the next few years?

@Huey2k2: Actually I am a huge hockey fan. I follow the sport everyday, even in the off season, and I watch it whenever I possibly can. I watched all 82 games that my team played (thanks to center ice) except for the ones that were on the NHL network because my provider wants to charge extra for that channel (not for long from what I hear).
As for Ovechkin, the reason I don't like him is the reason that most people don't like Sidney Crosby. It's plain and simple. He's not on my team. If he was, I'd love him. I actually do like the guy for his skills, and he is bringing more attention to the support. Hell he is bringing hockey back to the top ten on sports center and that is definitely not a bad thing.

If an NHL game can get online, fighting, and WM+ support, then I'm in. Until then it's not worth the time.

I agree, would be 1000x better. An online co-op mode (going threw the games's career mode) would be 1,000,000,000 better! :)

I really don't think he was lambasted for showboating, my guess is the media got a hold of a couple players quotes, and ran with it... because really, there isn't THAT much to report in hockey news sometimes... (aside from the games)
Ovechkin is some much needed freshness to a league that is trying to keep itself from stagnating.

uhhh, what the hell was that crap? Was that Ovie? Who cares about the stick on fire? I thought it was great, not to many people can score that many goals in a season. Hope to see more of it. back to the game... uhh what the hell was that??

Take a stroll through Detroit, Pittsburgh, St. Paul, Chicago, or even Buffalo. The first 3 are, without a doubt, hockey towns (hell, one has even trademarked the name). The last two are tricky... Chicago is on the bring of being one again and Buffalo has supported its team relentlessly for years, just not so much last year. Hockey is very much alive right now and is at its highest in probably 10 years, since the height of the Detroit-Colorado rivalry.

The line "no one in their grandmom" really made me forget whatever it was he was talking about as my brain started focusing on the horrible implications of that line. O_O

It's sad how NHL 2K has been slipping the past few years. The fact they chose to still make this for the PS2 and Wii really shows in the graphics department. Ovechkin's face just looks terrible. I'm still going to check out both games before making a purchase. It's not looking too good for 2K right now though.

The PS2 and Wii versions mean nothing for the PS360. The slow system versions have had the same engine since 2k5 or something like that. Probably even a separate development team, meaning whether they made the game or not for the PS2/Wii, no resources were strained on the PS360.

NHL 09 ruined hockey games for other developers. It will be very hard to top that but I hope NHL 10 can do it. 2K: save your money and make something else.

I still like 2k10 better than the EA sports series...a much better balance between arcade-style and sim style gameplay. Guys, let's face it - it's a video game, so if it's 100% realistic, it gets a little boring, but at the same time you don't want it to be like a hockey equivalent of NBA Jam.
Also, really stoked on some of the soundtrack selections this year, Eagles of Death Metal are perfect hockey music and I LOVED that they used "Oye Vaya" by Earl Greyhound (a video can be found at http://displacedbrett.wordpress.com/2009/09/20/nhl-2k10-and-need-for-speed-shift-debut-with-rockin-soundtracks/ )
