Update: Alas, the videos featured last night have been removed from YouTube due to a "copyright claim by Viacom." Sorry to everyone who missed them!
Update 2: As some of our commenters have smartly pointed out, all four of the removed videos are available legally through the official website for The Beatles: Rock Band.
Update 3: It seems as though even three of the four tracks have been removed from the official website for the game, and now only "Birthday" is available. Sorry again, folks!
There's nothing we like more than sitting back on a Sunday evening and listening to some good music. Tonight we're offering you the chance to listen along with us, with four tracks from The Beatles: Rock Band. Better yet, we've got the videos from the game as well for your viewing pleasure, just after the break.
While we're partial to the video for "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band," who are we to go all willy nilly suggesting what you choose to enjoy? Kick off your slippers and get ready for sheep counting with a handful of Beatles music from us to you. Oh, and if it's your birthday, happy birthday to you. (Sorry, we couldn't resist.)
[Thanks, Jon Q!]

Already been announced that this is a stand alone game and won't transfer into RBII.
Don't really care, I was expecting as much.

Its a bummer, but the Beatles are the only exception I'll give 'em.
Now, if LEGO Rock Band isn't exportable... someone's going to get a plastic instrument in their eyehole.

They are truly one of maybe three (off the top of my head) bands that even deserve their own game, let alone their own stand alone / non exportable music in a game such as this. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, or maybe The Who (who have already been featured heavily in RB anyways) . Not that they are the only good bands out there, but they are the only bands that have an extensive catalogue of recorded music and always managed to do something different than they had done before (there's Dream On, then there's every other Aerosmith song), and aren't relegated to only being popular with a specific crowd (how many people can make it through a Metallica solo on plastic buttons without their fingers writhing in pain?).

It's unfortunate that Jimmy Page is so set against having Zep music in a rhythm game. Maybe when he sees this one he'll change his mind. I doubt it, though,

Yeah, I'd even go as far as saying Pink Floyd or Led Zep are deserving of their own games. I think my mind would blow up just to play Dark Side of the Moon with no gaps between songs...
And then in the background as you're playing, The Wizard of Oz runs.

There are differences in the way RB2 and Beatles RB play which would make it kinda hard to export without a considerable patch to RB2. Assuming they DID provide that patch then people could just rent the game pay five bucks and no one ever sees the money that they expect to see from selling a Beatles branded product. As a standalone title you either buy it or you dont and they're counting on more people buying it than not buying it.
As for Lego Rockband It's just a less mature version of the regular game, the DLC that people would expect to buy for it is already in the store for both RB1 /AND/ RB2 (you cant tell me Spongebob and the various Nick and Disney kid artists arnt going to feature heavily in LegoRB) so unless they add some fancy play control to Lego it should be exportable assuming they put out an export key... which I dont see them NOT doing but I do imagine they wouldnt do it immediately.

jimmy page isn't the one against licensing their music. robert plant is. john paul jones and jimmy page are pretty much fine with it. jimmy page's comment from before about music games isn't that he doesn't like them, he just doesn't think that it truly emulates actual instrument playing, not even drums.

"Zeppelin front man Jimmy Page recently hung a definitive "No Stairway" sign on the genre, citing his hesitance to lend game developers the band's valuable master tracks"
I see nothing misleading in the title

alton said he was dead set against them. the article said he was hesitant. hesitant could be for a reason, like "easily misplaceable master tracks". if the master tracks to all the led zeppelin songs were lost, that's like demolishing the eiffel tower or statue of liberty. HORRIBLE. so he has reason.

I can't wait for this damn game. Actually my girlfriends want for this game got me into the Beatles, I always liked them, but I actually stopped and started listening to their stuff, even bought the Beatles Anthology DVD. Now this game can't here soon enough.
Anyone know if there will be a mode to just watch the beatles perform kinda like in these videos? I know some one's clearly playing, but it would be nice to have the music video mode that was announced but scrapped for RB2 for this game.

I hate the Beatles, but Activision could learn a thing or two from HMX from this release.
characters look like the real people not lousy claymation
animations match the music
and though I havent played it, game play is probably perfect too.
I would buy this if I liked the songs.

Harmonix is definitely setting a new standard in Band Specific games. The art direction and presentation is just straight out of the Beatles career. This is a very impressive looking game.

I don't think people would really want to play Pink Floyd in Rock Band outside of Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, or the Wall, which have the songs people know. The rest of their albums aren't really very well suited to RB. But I am getting pretty excited about Beatles. One more month!

But those three alone add up to 41 songs. Throw in Animals and a bunch of their earlier and newer stuff and you have more then enough for a game easily.

I never really got into the "Hero/Band" games and although I will dabble at parties, it's not really my thing.
I must say that the sheer quality of this title may change that for me. This is really something

Smoke some mari, if you've got some. Gouge away...
They have strange guidelines for what they censor, leaving "God damn do I declare" in Uncle John's Band, and in the above example, only cutting out "juana," which is poor obfuscation.

@Josh: Yeah, I know it doesn't HAVE to be drugs, but... I mean, this was Lennon/McCartney circa 1967, so I'm pretty sure it might have been drugs.
