Fat Princess players rejoice! Titan Studios announced this weekend that it's hard at work on a patch that will fix the multitude of online multiplayer issues that folks have been dealing with. Notably, FPers have been encountering unsightly lag, causing many a broken heart (and more importantly, lost matches).
Titan says that it's well aware of the problems -- thanks in no small part to an active, vocal community -- and that it's "working with Sony now to get the patch into the Sony testing process as soon as possible." The company hasn't released a more specific window for the patch's arrival on PlayStation Network, but we've asked Sony for comment and will update this post when we hear back.
Update: Sony has told us that while there isn't a more solid release window set for the patch, we will know as soon as it has one. Sorry, folks!
[Thanks, Ian!]

Didnt it take a long time for SOCOM to be fixed? If so, and FP gets fixed really quick, it wont be the same.

@ArmorForVictor
You can play it?
I mean, the single player is fun and all, but after spending about an hour on the campaign, and about 3 on the gladiate mode... I don't see how I could spend more time on single player without devoting to the gladiate trophy.
I wouldn't be so upset with it if I could actually connect online. After spending, literally, an hour trying all sorts of different things to attempt to even connect I was without success and just stopped trying.
Being unable to even join a friends game is pretty terrible too.
And no, it's not >my< fault. I have no problem playing any other online PSN or PS3 games. At all.

I know what you mean. I had a really hard time connecting the first 2 days (it took maybe a dozen attempts before I got into a game), but things are a bit better now (3-4 attempts for each success). It really sucks when the host leaves and you get booted out.
Local multiplayer would be great.

i haven't been able to connect online at all either. i just figured it was my connection since i sometimes have trouble connecting to some games. thanks for the ray of hope that it may be the game and not my connection. i still played in the online mode with bots for a couple hours the other day and picked up a trophy though. pretty fun game but it would be much more fun with more people.

Everyone is having those problems. I've been bitching for days, and I'm worried if they think the main problem is lag (I've experienced some, but it's nowhere near the main concern at this point)
If I were reviewing the game as-is on day one, I'd have given it a 3. It simply wasn't playable. Let the record state that as of right now, there is only one review for the game on metacritic (yes, I know, metacritic is pointless). If there is a deluge of positive reviews right after the patch, I'm going to sound the tin-foil-hat alarm, and I want to see all of you in the bunker with me.
Having said all of that, the game is a hell of a lot of fun, and well worth 15 dollars (when the connection problems are fixed anyway)

Friday evening I was able to log into maybe 2 matches. Saturday morning it took me about 10 tries before I got into a match. But I ended up playing 6 or 7 matches later that afternoon. And all day Sunday I managed to play online pretty much all day without too many connection issues (I think I had to try a max of 3 times before I logged in). So I think the problem is much better than on Friday. But if I recall when COD4 was released on PSN the servers were pretty bad for the first weekend.
So, my point is its not really as bad as most people say it is.
Now the lag is an issue for me. The last few round I played yesterday were fine, but the lag is kind of at the threshold of tolerable/intolerable depending on the server you're in.
Overall its a great game and every PS3 owner should own!

they do test, it's just that they don't test realistically. they don't account for bad connections, hosts signing out, etc. they test in a controlled environment. that's why almost every big game has online problems for the first few days. once they know what problems there are, they can work on good patches for the problems.

I agree with aero. In a public beta, devs would probably be lucky if 5% of people reported bugs. People would see bugs in the beta, but probably not say anything. When the games come out and people say, "THAT PROBLEM WAS IN THE BETA! HOW COULD THEY NOT HAVE FIXED IT?!" Well, it's because they never alerted the devs of the problem. Plus, it's not that they're having problems per se, but the servers are being overloaded (I guess that's a problem...). They could either buy more servers and then have them sit around after the 1st mad rush, or they could just try to deal with a reasonable amount of servers. I wish they had rented more servers to play it safe (can you rent servers?) because I was really mad that I couldn't play online for the first 2 days. I see both sides of the problem, and I think of it as just a game and I can wait 2 days for the game to be playable to me (life will go on, even if I can't play Fat Princess). I know others would argue and say that the game should be 100% playable on day 1, and I see where they're coming from, too. It's just a matter of how much they spend on servers, and how much use those servers are ultimately going to get.
I'm not trying to start any fights. I know some people think if they spend money on a game, they should be able to enjoy it as soon as they spend the money. I have a mentality that is somewhat like that, but I understand where the devs are coming from and if I have to wait 2 or 3 days for the servers to be fully functional. Everyone can have their own opinions and expect what they want from a game.

Keep in mind that this is a PSN title, not a marquee retail big-name release. To be able to release a public beta and spend the time it takes to maintain the servers is a cost that probably wasn't budgeted for Titan. More than likely the beta would be down the entire time and no one would get to play it and the developers wouldn't be able to focus on gameplay concerns and suggestions. While it'd be nice if every game had a public beta associated with it, there are always costs associated with server maintenance and patching problems that occur throughout the duration of the beta.

@ ToadStoolPorridge just so you know this game isn't server based, its P2P meaning a gamers PS3 is acting as a server hence "the host has disconnected issue" and everyone gets kicked.

Same thing happened to me earlier... the worker machine stopped giving hats, but kept dispensing bombs. No one could repair the doors and we lost pretty quickly. I hope they fix that and the game connect issues soon, the game is really fun and addicting.

"Wow I got downvoted why?"
Because you are the reason developers don't bother to release working games.
When Castle Crashers, Battlefield 1943, or Fat Princess comes out, there are plenty of people like you flooding forums with:
"The game works great for me! If you're having a problem, it's your fault, not the game's fault!"
"Buy this game now! When it gets fixed, it will be awesome!"
"Nobody should review this game until after they release the networking patch at an undetermined date. The game is not finished until after they release the patch."
"This is entirely the fault of unpaid beta testers, who didn't file sufficiently detailed bug reports. The developer's own QA staff is blameless here."

I haven't played the game all that much yet (maybe a few hours at most) but I haven't had any connection issues (knock on wood) either. I was in the beta as well and it was pretty much flawless. But, obviously there are issues or they wouldn't be working on a patch so quick after the game launched. It was kind of the same thing with my Socom Confrontation experience: I hadn't had any issues at all and people railed on me for saying I didn't experience any issues others were complaining about.
There is a difference in saying you (or I) haven't had any connection issues and there aren't any issues at all. Giving feedback on ones own experiences isn't being a dick at all. I think railing on that person is the dick move.

Let me see if I got this right:
-You have mostly just hosted so you yourself didn't see most of the lag issues
-People that played in your games sometimes got disconnected and couldn't rejoin
-The princess sometimes disappears in your games
-You joined a few games hosted by others
So, basically, you're saying you have the same problems as everyone else? The only difference being that since you hosted most of the time you didn't lag or get disconnected. So, in other words, you bragged about your internet connection for no reason all.

People didnt get d/c it's the game itself that doesnt let people to rejoin games for some reason and I had both my PS3's in one game and I didnt notice any lag. By the way I play with a bunch of my friends who never say anything about lag because knowing them theyd say something to me. As for the princess disappearing that rarely ever happens but it seems to be a game glitch more than anything. The game runs fine for me, only a few hiccups which I expected knowing its an online game mostly. I dont get why this is so hard to believe that the game runs fine for some people? I love this game, its fun and the best PSN game hands down. I'm not saying the game doesnt have its problems but so do alot of games of this type. I'm just posting my experience.

Some people can't even host 32 player games. A friend of mine can only create 20 player games. Another friend who can host a 32 player game cant ever get anyone to connect to him. I've been reading the forums and how some people host less than 20 etc. if you also read the Titan blog they tell users to switch to NAT Type 2 also which I'm on.

Im sick of freakin' developers releasing games to the public knowing they arent going to work properly. Instead of doing a public beta they release what cannot be anything more than a beta version of the game to the general public. Then they just rely on the ability to use a patch via the internet to fix the problems that we find.
So basicaly, we're all suckered into buying the game before its actually complete...
Now, dont get me wrong, whats there is great. When it works right.
