Call of Duty: World at War 'Map Pack 3' hits Aug. 6, iPhone app out now

the companion app sounds cool! very useful for a daily player.

I still think that $10 is too much for a map pack, especially when games like Halo 3 force you to buy them in order to play certain game types.

Pretty cool, I wonder if Halo 3 and Modern Warfare will also get such apps, they're pretty handy.

You know, I personally don't like Treyarch CoD's. Not my cup of tea. But they have some really good ideas, like this app.

Would it kill Activision to just give IW and Treyarch separate franchises to work with?

i have yet to buy any and thought i'd wait and see if they did a bundle with all 3 , anybody any word on this ? Looks like i wasted my time eh !! KZ2 did it and so did Warhawk so i stupidly got my hopes up . In this case i am not buying any of them , haven't played it for about 3 months anyway.

You don't have to upgrade PCs. Only if you want the latest and greatest performance. You can always run new games at reduced settings and they still look better than the 2xAA (or none) 720p (or lower) 0xAF Xbox 360 games.

The 360 and PS3 versions actually run at 1024x600 and WaW at least has trouble maintaining a solid 60FPS. The textures are also severely reduced. AA is limited to 2x and AF appears to be off entirely.

Indeed, my PC costs about £400 with my monitors and an 8800GT, I bought it 'last' year and I can still play most games on max settings (apart from Crysis, obviously) with an average framerate of 80-90+ (over 100 on CoD4 and L4D).
It's a myth to say PCs need to constantly be upgraded in order to play the latest and greatest, and that they cost far too much, but at the same time it's silly for fanboys to have their meat to pick at.
Can't we just shut up and play the games, instead of whining about whose platform is better?

Quick wake up call about the whole PC vs 360/PS3.

1. HIGH-END (Gaming-type) PCs cost avg. $2000, but custom rig at that price would get you:

CPU: AMD PHenom 9850 (x4) 2.5GHz --> Can play ANY game (Including Crysis)
RAM: 6GB DDR2 SDRAM (800MHz) ----> Can play ANY game (Including Crysis)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9800GT ------------> Can play ANY game (including Crysis)
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD -> Can play ANY game (Including Crysis)
TV Tuner: WinTV HD w/ Remote ----------> Add-ON
HDD: 750GB Hitachi 7200RPM S-ATA II -> Can play ANY game (Including Crysis)
Optical Drive: LG Blu-Ray/CD/DVD Super-Multi --> Install Crysis, play anything

How do I know this? Because this is my gaming rig and yes with some extra HDMI Cables, Sound Cables and 360 Controller, you got yourself a 360 Rig up with WAAAY better graphics in native 1080p and free updates.

So thats the upside but here's the downside; you only pay about $500CA (over $2000 for a PC) for a 360 Elite, you get the updates about a month later (to allow 360 market & PS3 market to rack up the dough first) and you have to maintenance AND update your PC (new hardware) every 2 YEARS, NOT 6 MONTHS (gaming will burn out the parts eventually w/ stock cooling, i.e. Graphics Card).

So really, it's just a matter of preference, if you want the best gameplay and have money to spare, get a PC at BEst Buy or Future Shop for $2000, or if your a casual gamer on a budget and don't mind lower graphics go for a 360 or PS3.

Arguing which is better is like over milk & juice: it's a pointless argument.

Personally, I prefer the PC, but that's just my opinion.
