(Disclaimer: I only have an Edge Card because we don't buy new games, only used, and me love me some GameInformer.)

On 2nd thought, maybe I'll get a LVL2... but 25 dollars? For something I already got for 15 last year? Gamestop...

THEY REALLY ARE EVIL!!!!!!!

I must wash my braibn of that store, and now I'll start shopping at my local PNT...

Play-N-TRadE isn't evil, right?

$10 more isn't bad considering how many extra bonuses you get.

tre, support your local PnT! There were two within 5 miles of me, and both have closed in the last year due to not getting enough business. Now the only game shop around is the big G; I'm not pleased.

Play-N-Trade. It's a smaller, non-evil chain where they let you try the game you want before you buy it.

People need to learn reward programs only work if you literally ONLY shop there. For instance, doing the math to get the reward program from Gamestop to work you have to spend roughly $600 in the year to get it to be a value. That's not counting if you trade in used games. And if you are trading in used games I ask why? You might as well just have a Gamefly account if you're not going to keep anything, you save much more money.

I don't like Play-N-Trade. Their trade-in values are even lower than GameStop. I traded in Fallout 3 months ago and they only gave me 15 dollars. Case, manual, everything. Even Amazon offered me 25 for it.

LEVEL 2 Rewards: Make Any Combination of 20 Purchases or Trades in a Year or Purchase a Level 2 membership for $25 to Get All the Rewards of Level 1, Plus:

* A one-year subscription to Game Informer -- the nation's leading gaming magazine
* Power trades – always 20% bonus trade-in credit
* Guaranteed in-stock new games or free shipping
* Early access to purchase collector's editions of games
* $5 shipping of new titles, shipped on day of release
* Guaranteed access to exclusive in-game accessories like weapons, players and instruments

that's actually... not bad. i trade in and buy used games a lot, so the extra 20% bonus would be sick. and the in-game accessories would be a nice bonus.

The trick is you have to trade in 20 games before you get the discount though (I think, so I would almost prefer to ave an EDGE card in that case and get 20% off everything) =/.
I have a stack of games I've been meaning to trade in, so I'm going to wait until more details about this pop up.
The in-game bonuses and everything sound good, though

that's why i would just buy it for $25. the way i trade in, the cost would be recuperated during the first use.

"Get more out of gaming at GameStop, because only GameStop brings power to the players."

I've shopped at GameStop, yet I still feel powerless. Maybe I need to swallow more of this radioactive waste.

The one I saw had a points based system, and Tier 4 (5001+ points) had an option where they send you on a free trip to E3 or comic con (flight and hotel paid for, with an all access pass). There was also an option on Tier 4 for getting a brand new game for free.

Forgot to add, the guys on neogaf did the math with the system gamesotp had in the survey and in order to get to Tier 4 you basically needed to buy 10 new games. Then again, the trip to E3 might not necessarily be 5001 points...could have been 5,000,000,000 for all we know.

You have to pay for an Edge card? I got one free when I traded in some games and had extra credit left over that I wasn't spending. Was the register jockey just being lazy and giving me my credit the easiest way possible?

That's the way they give store credit, it's seperate than having the membership that gives you a discount on games and the magazine.

What's confusing is the membership comes with a card that can also keep store credit on it.

I think I'll stick with Amazon Prime.

Totally worth missing out on some of their exclusive preorder bonuses to get my games when they come out and not 2 weeks after they come out.

As much as I buy online, I easily pay that much in standard shipping. Prime membership is actually cheaper for me, and I get free 2nd day shipping, and whenever a game is available to be had on release day, that's free too.

Basically it's a much better value to me than any Gamestop reward would be worth putting up with them failing to charge my credit card correctly.

I wish they had the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, though. Maybe then they'd get sweet preorder deals too.

Absolutely. It takes one fourth the game trade ins to get the same trade in credit. Version 2 just has a lot of bonuses that make you want to buy stuff at Gamestop, which is better for the company than it is for you. I would go for Version 1 for sure

if i do shop retail, i shop Game Crazy. i like walking into a store where the staff actually knows what they're selling.

How about option 3- their trade-in values are bumped up to 50% of their sticker price to make their trade values fair to the customer!

Okay, I did the survey, so here are the details I saw. There are two plans being considered. The first is 25 dollars a year, with stuff like exclusive launches, exclusive in-game items and content, 20% extra on trade-ins, guaranteed in-stock on launch day, walkthroughs/cheat codes, a free strategy guide, discounted/free strategy guides, and stuff like that. The other plan is 15 dollars a year and offers changing benefits based on how much you spend a year. Basically the same as the 25 dollar plan but it scales based on spending, in 150 dollar increments from zero to 350 a year.

Yup no way in hell I'm trading in games there still even with this new deal.
The big thing is they need to drop prices on used games because $5 off really is just them being greedy.

what;s this shit about shipping? We have to pay for shipping now or something? Or is it if a new game is sold out you can pay to ship a copy? Either way that's bs
