I think it's the best looking Wii game there is.

In fact, even though from a technical standpoint it can't live up to most PS360 games, I'd say it's still better looking than some of them. Art style FTW.

According to the latest "Iwata Asks," this game's graphics are putting pressure on EAD 3, otherwise known as the Zelda Team

This game is a showcase of how many lazy developers are out there.
The Wii's hardware is no excuse for making a poor looking game :(

No, just shows what you can do with major-release-sized budgets. The most dedicated of teams can't do a damn thing if they're forced to cut corners due to time/money constraints.

I did NOT care for the PSP demo, Monster Hunter Freedom or whatever. Seems like they made a menu management game and tacked on a hack n slash minigame that feels like a chore. Mybe it was because of the small screen and terrible analogue nub, but I tried it like 3 times and just did not have fun with it.

In case you were wondering. XD

I'd have to agree with you there, my friends were obsessed with monster hunter 2, and kept trying to get me to play it. I finally gave in to see what all the fuss was about, and quickly realized this isn't my kind of game. ..

But. It has it's appeal and I hope it does well on the Wii.

Hi, I'm Levi, I whine and complain when people down vote my post. The actual content of my post wasn't really bad, but I clearly wrote it with the intention of winding up Monster Hunter fans by claiming absolutely ridiculous things.

I wasn't one of the people who down voted you BTW. Just pointing out your mistakes :)

Waiting on shipment from YesAsia on this one [little brother's import].

Graphic-wise, I've been watching livestreams of the game and... it's okay. The water effects are godawful but I understand it's pretty difficult rendering liquid anyway. Still, it's predominantly dark and gloomy which hides a lot of detail. The monsters are massive which does a couple of things; distracts from the redundant and vast surroundings and makes detail on the surface area of the monsters a bit easier to notice.

I don't want to be too judgmental because I'm expecting the game sometime this week! AND... does anyone know if the western release will require the monthly pay service for online play?? The Japanese release requires Wii points for a subscription which is kind of... annoying, heh.

If the last two console Monster Hunters are any indication, the Western release will not be pay-to-play. That's what happened with the PS2 games

Plus, Capcom said they were trying to make the game big in the West, and if they know shit about the west, it's that they won't like paying to play for anything less than a full-scale MMO (and that pay-to-play MMOs never really catch on on consoles anyway)

I'm glad it's finally been confirmed.

I figure I'll buy this when it comes out just to see what all the hype is about.
...although I reckon I'm going to feel bad about running around and killing critters all willy nilly.

Didn't know you were Euro SamFish, it's hard to really know who is and who isn't around here.

I'm pretty irritated though, that's two games pushed to early 2010, Red Steel 2, and Monster Hunter 3. It damn well better be free to play after this.

And I don't understand why people are so hooked on visuals all of a sudden, but it looks good. The Conduit still looks better than most games on the console so far though.

And I know it's old, but who has seen the early prototype for RE 4 on the GameCube?? Jesus....

I might pick this up. The basic template of the series seems to be like a deeper version of Phantasy Star Online, the only MMO i've ever played (and played for a good 400 hours or so). Monster Hunter has a much greater focus on DIY Weapons farming, which i'm a little leary about, so i don't really knwo

Early 2010 is going to be very good to me, though. Especially if Nintendo manages to get Soul Silver and Galaxy 2 across in that time-frame.

Agreed on PSO, that game was awesome, but the combat system was shallow. And to me if they just put a bit of depth to the system it would have been great, which they did in Universe. A shame Universe chewed balls.

"might" pick this up my ass. You know damn well you are getting this game on day 1 like everyone else. I'm so pumped for this game and I can't wait to see what the Wii is capable of putting out when a publisher puts large funds behind a project.

This game is going to be so sick ... if it's anything like the previous iterations we are all in for a real treat come early 2010.

Between Monster Hunter, Heavy Rain and God Of War early 2010 is looking rather awesome. Thanks, infinity ward!

Either that's pre-rendered video (especially the town sequences) or these guys are beast at programming for the Wii.

Also, nice rip-off of the Star Wars theme intro about mid-video.

I love monster hunter. Having said that, I'm sad that this game is on the Wii. I'm sure its an excellent game, and probably the best of the series. But I think Capcom is limiting its potential with the visual aspects, the AI aspects, the environmental complexity aspects, and the social gaming aspects, by making this game for the Wii. Sure, this is probably the best looking Wii game i've seen. But graphics arent everything the next-gen systems are about. The power of the PS360's allow for just bigger and better everything. If its one thing that plagued the previous Monster Hunter games, its the environment sizes. Sure the overall evironments were big, but they were seperated with "rooms", thus limiting the available space.

not to mention the online interaction capabilites of the PS3/360, because multiplayer co-op has been the core feature of the MH series.

But I know exactly why Capcom made this for the Wii: Monster hunter is HUGE in japan. Like, outstandingly huge. See, we have our WOW players... they have Monster Hunter, its almost that huge. And guess what? The Wii is HUGE in japan (and everywhere). So Capcom didnt make a game that pushes the series to its limits with its scope and scale, they made a game that will sell millions of copies without any worries.

Greed, people. Greed is whats keeping Monster Hunter from reaching it's fullest potential. And I'm saddened by it.

All 3rd parties are free to do as they wish when it comes to Wii online, just that if they choose to go it alone, they do so with zero financial/netcode support from Nintendo themselves (which, if you have the money, is actually a good thing)

Since Capcom's using their own servers, that makes that level across any potential platform. Equally, i doubt that, aside from pure graphics, it could have been made that much better. The difficulties of AI lie more in coding than in hardware power, and aside from making the game open-world or something, the extra RAM wouldn't have helped all that much over what you see.

It could have certainly looked better, and definitely would have benefitted from the possibilities of DLC, but that's about the extent of it

I'd downvote you for being so blatantly anti-Wii, but I had those same thoughts myself.

Of course, being bigger doesn't mean they're pushing the series to the limits. There is SO much more to the game than how big it is and how good the online lobbies are. Certainly the Wii's massive fanbase made them switch from the PS3, though.

Ummm ... The Wii isn't capable of having as many items on screen at one time and it isn't able to handle advanced physics calculations as well as not having the raw processing capability to have as good of A.I. Everything would have been enhanced has this game stayed a PS3 exclusive as it was originally announced. I'm not going to let that kill my fun because I'm still super hyped about this game regardless about which system it's on. But, if you think the only improvements would have been in graphics and the addition of DLC then you aren't living in reality.

Everything is running off calculations and the ability of the system to plow through large sets of data. The Wii isn't as capable which is pretty much common sense and universally accepted at this point. The amount of RAM and the ability of the computer to crunch numbers has everything to do with the end result of the game.

This game is going to be awesome but it's silly to argue it wouldn't be better on a stronger platform. The game itself would have been MUCH better. But, it's irrelevant at this point because Capcom decided to move it from the Playstation to the Wii.

I have to say, I'm getting a bit annoyed by the back-and-forth movement of games on the Wii. Back when it first came out, it had quite a few good games compared to the other systems. Then it fell far behind. Now it's picking up again (this year and 2010). On one hand, the Wii is the only console I own, so it's good to see some good games. On the other hand, I'd like to see the Wii decide whether it's a proper gaming system or not, so that I can hurry up and decide whether I need a PS3/360 or not.

Well, I just hope that it gets through US/Eur release. Hopefully also we get online features. I love the monster hunter series. BTW, since the wii is already cheap and if ever they get price cut it would be obviously cheaper then. So, there's no reason not to get a wii if your a fan of monster hunter and wants to play the new tri. Otherwise, just hope it will get an x360 or ps3 release soon. That is if they ever decide on it. Anyway, it's totally worth it if you're a fan of the MH series.

This game looks cool, but I hear they got rid of the Bow, the Gun Lance and the Dual Wields. None of those were actually my mains, but I have friends that liked to use them. I wonder why they got rid of them?
