Rumor: I Am Alive, but I may not look like these screens anymore
German site PCGames got its hands ... er, server on a set of screenshots purported to be from an early version of Ubisoft's disaster game I Am Alive. The images, which originated at Unseen64, are said to come from a build of the title from when it was being worked on by Alone in the Dark dev Darkworks. (It's since been handed over to Ubisoft Shanghai.)
The screens look plenty disaster-y in their depiction of a post-earthquake Chicago. It's hard to make much of them, though, since they're, y'know, just environments. Let's hope the game's new developer is working hard to deliver gameplay akin to what the original teaser trailer hinted at.

*sigh* the idea of this game has so much potential. Too bad the majority of Ubisoft games are just that...wasted potential.

I'm rather found of Assasin's Creed, GRAW series, and Far Cry... aren't you?
And might I add, Beyond Good and Evil? o.0!
ThatPCgameryouhate @ Aug 4th 2009 3:09AM
I'm also rather fond of spelling things correctly. My bad :D
Damian @ Aug 4th 2009 4:05AM
If they used the assasins creed engine for this,it could be cool scaling destroyed buildings and broken bridges.
Shadow Hog @ Aug 3rd 2009 11:49PM
And believe me, I Am (still) Alive...
I'm doing science and I Am (still) Alive...
I feel fantastic and I Am (still) Alive...
And when you're dying, I Am (still) Alive...
And when you're dead, I Am (still) Alive...
CH3BURASHKA @ Aug 4th 2009 1:12AM
My God! It was before me the entire time, and I didn't see it!!! I didn't know... I didn't know...
Alex @ Aug 4th 2009 3:19AM
Is it not "And when you're dead, I will be still alive"? I know it ruins the joke, but you can't get it wrong.

Come fire
Come fire
Let it burn and love come racing through...
Oh wait, Portal's Still Alive, not Mirror's Edge Still Alive, scrap that.
arisc2 @ Aug 3rd 2009 11:49PM
if they ever release this game i just hope is not another "wandering around with not too much to do game" just like most of the games that ubi makes...
doc j @ Aug 4th 2009 1:27AM
It's weird to me that one game in which you spend a lot of time riding around on a horse not doing much (Shadow of the Colossus) can be SO MUCH BETTER than another game where you spend a lot of time riding around on a horse not doing much (Assassin's Creed).
I don't mean to be sarcastic. SotC is a top 5 game of all time for me... Assassin's Creed was mediocre at best.
arisc2 @ Aug 4th 2009 11:25AM
that´s true, but maybe it has to do with the fact that shadow never tried to lie about what to expect from it. In the first 5 minutes you knew that the whole point of the game was to fight with the colossus, nothing more nothing less. They never tried to sell an amazing fully interactive world that it´s going to allow you to complete your missions in many different ways like assasins creed. To be honest shadow Does gets very boring when you have to travel from colossus to colossus, but for me it was acceptable as i knew that a huge epic battle was waiting.
but creed was very different, you waste too much time doing nothing, and the whole experience was not as nice as they said, and assasins creed 2 is looking like one of those games that depends more in their looks than in their fun factor.
Paul @ Aug 4th 2009 11:48AM
I'll have to argue that point. I never once saw any advertising or articles about shadow of the colossus. I just bought it one day used because it was cheap. It turned out to be my favorite game of all time.
it had nothing to do with the way they sold it, it had everything to do with the art direction of the whole package...the music, the environments, the big epic battles, the fact that you rode around this beautiful land and did nothing but destroy these beautiful creatures....tell me you didn't feel selfish after killing a few of them.
assassin's creed was just too long
arisc2 @ Aug 4th 2009 1:17PM
i wasn´t really saying that they sold it on a specific way, what i was saying is that the game itself let´s you know that the whole idea is to beat a colossus, plain simple, the world is huge but it´s never a real part of the game, as a matter of fact the whole world is a pretty empty space, you don´t really need too much explanations to know that the whole point is not the world but the battles.
with assasins creed however the whole idea was that you were on a living world, and that was going to make the game interesting one way or another, and it ended being a very boring experience, sadly that has happened with all the games of ubi soft lately, they only care about looks but game play is not really present in any of their games, shadow of the colossus is a masterpiece.

Could it be a less urine soaked version of Fallout 3?
Random G (Wiizer Sweatshop Chief Bitchslapper) @ Aug 4th 2009 12:10AM
Yes please.
The Dark Wang(Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 4th 2009 12:24AM
Do you have a problem with urine?
OMGOMG @ Aug 4th 2009 12:51AM
You know the saying:
I love urine soaked games.
Wait.
WREturns[FBI Sweatshop Investigation Task Force] @ Aug 4th 2009 2:16AM
I hardly pissed myself at all playing Fallout 3.
Filthy Assistant @ Aug 4th 2009 12:28AM
I can't wait for Disaster Report 3!
Petebot330 @ Aug 4th 2009 12:40AM
I was hoping for a screen of lower wacker drive, just so I could say: "Definitely lower Wacker Drive."
Gorf @ Aug 4th 2009 1:40AM
i never got the cake
WREturns[FBI Sweatshop Investigation Task Force] @ Aug 4th 2009 2:17AM
Too bad for you, it was fucking delicious.
Heather @ Aug 4th 2009 7:21AM
I first read that studio as Ubisoft Shenanigans. :oP
Games reminds me a lot of Mirror's Edge the way it looks now.
Peter Moore @ Aug 4th 2009 9:20AM
North State Street Bridge? what? Eh, at least they got the lettering and signage correct...
Ins0mn1ac @ Aug 4th 2009 10:33AM
Maybe Ubi will splurge and actually send the shanghai team to Chicago. From the looks of it, darkworks had never made the trip.
CitizenErased @ Aug 4th 2009 11:39AM
Not sure if the douche with the tie and generic face is the main guy. If he is I will not get this game. I don't like douches. I'd rather play as a stinky old bum.
