This is easily one of the dumbest things ever posted. Avatar will easily make hundreds of millions.

Laughing at the guys in this thread who aren't looking forward to this anymore.

Comparing Avatar to Harry Potter is comical. There was nothing "world-changing" about the movies or the books. Pretty lame books if you ask me.

[I can't help to say this for the funnies]

Are you trying to seduce me, M. Mystile?

If with "seduce" you mean "fuck like mad bunny" and with "me" you mean "Megan Fox", then.. yes.

meh. I'll believe it when I see it. Until you show me something to get excited about I'm going to remain skeptical.

Too bad I already know exactly what happens in the movie down to the finest detail thanks to Cameron's E3 speech.

Does anyone else find it weird that the only thing we've been shown of this film has been via videogame screenshots? There are no images for the actual movie yet.

That's because Cameron has gone to great lengths to create a movie that is unfit for human consumption.

Hell, your eyes will probably burst when they DO release a picture.

Yeah, I agree, "world changing" = epic fail

And you can't "make" the next Harry Potter--things like HP just evolve of their own accord, and can't be forced.

It'll be as "world-changing" as the film Igor, and the game based on it. God, both this movie and the game will suck. I hope they're happy for taking the brand name of a much more successful franchise.

Try again, Cameron wrote the script for this back in the mid 90's before Airbender was drempt of.

I wish it wasn't called Avatar, though. That word conjures up bad memories of people enlarging their e-penises pointlessly. What's the point in an ACHIEVEMENT if you don't have to achieve anything?

I find the lack of faith in Camerons work disturbing. This is the guy that gave us the Terminator. A movie so awesome that it even made Arnie look good. Give the guy some massive slack for that.

As for 3D being overdone, complete nonsense. I suppose colour is overdone too? Yeah, let's get back to black and white, colour adds way less than the third dimension, pointless really.

I know little about Avatar and care not, its going to be SCI-FI, and there is so little of that around, it has to be worth a punt when it comes out.

World changing? Who gives a monkeys left nut, unless you're profiting from the film yourself. On a scale of only worth pirating to camping out at your nearest 3D enabled cinema, there has to be enjoyment of it in there somewhere.

This comment is now too long. Cameron would be proud of me.

I'm trying to remember when and how exactly did Harry Potter changed the world.

When: 1997, when it was first published

How: in book format. However, the games didn't change the world in any way (well, it changed EA with its money).

when that be speckled little sorcerer and his ginger friend cast a spell on my heart.... i walked into the theater of the first movie having only 3 weeks to live and walked out 2 years younger, buff as a juice monkey, and instead of a atrophied penis, i had a 3 foot cock

@Ashitaka What I'm trying to say is that "change the world" is a bit of an overstatement. Sure it has sold like crazy, and it has lots of fans but the world is still the same. Now if everyone who read the book or saw the movie experienced the extreme changes @RobT did, then it did change the world.

Making the first HP game was "an incredible entertainment phenomenon." ? Sure didn't feel like it.

Im going to laugh when this flops and the game sucks, just like every other movie game. Also compairing this out of nowhere movie to Harry Potter is a big mistake, see Avatar has no ground work prior to the movie, Potter had it's fanbase from the books and built on that much like Lord of the Rings. I just some poor parents don't take their kids to see this movie only to have the kids find out that this movie has no Airbenders in it. :P

The hype train has turned me off to the whole thing. I don't care if Cameron did Aliens or The Abyss. I feel like the big sell has been on how realistic this film will be but, so what? There should be less CGI, not more.
