It's hard not to know who she is. She's been on every tv show (SNL, talk shows, music channels, etc.), she's all over the radio (where I'm from anyways), her shows sell out all over, too. (She just played a sold out show here in our stadiumwith some other acts!)
She doesn't bother me. She isn't a manufactured, Disney kid. She actually has talent and writes her own music and lyrics. I suppose it doesn't hurt that she's hot, too.
There I said it. Sigh... I actually like her. Please, don't hate me too much.

It actually is pertinent. The song's about forbidden love, and the narrator relates herself to the Scarlet Letter, so yeah, not exactly the most ingenious literary allusion, but I'm just saying, it's there.
