This has been known for a while, actually. That's why Muramasa has always been considered the prime candidate for Wii-to-HD porting, since it's the only one of theirs that would be cost-effective to do so

I'd actually like to see this on the PS3, mostly because I've recently finished Odin Sphere. The Book of Armageddon is a real b***h to play through (they weren't kidding about telling people to go back and level-up/restock on items.

and yet, the same man in an interview with IGN

IGN: So, on the Wii, you can achieve a display resolution that only goes up to a certain point. But other systems offer more power and more resolution, and could potentially make the 2D art look even more beautiful. So why the decision to stick with the Wii when a game like this could maybe look better on, say, the Xbox 360?

Kamitani: That question's been asked many times. It's not that I definitely wanted to do the game for Wii, though I wrote in the original design document that it's for Wii. The reason is that our PS2 know-how could be brought over straight to the Wii. Actually, I made presentations for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it was just too expensive.

i see absolutely no reason why they shouldnt go along with this most of the sophisticated gamers are using ps3/360 and placing it as downloadable game would be cost effective and would be highly praised. could easily be sold as $15-20 game.

2D sprites eh? So it won't look good upscaled in HD on the Dolphin emulator for the PC then.

I would totally love to see this game on XBLA for twenty dollars. It's not doing anything with the Wii's motion controls, right?

Actually from what I've seen the Wii controls play a large part in how the game is played.

@rob:

Like, essential to gameplay, or stuff that could be tossed for a smarter UI system (like, instead of pointing at the item I want to buy in the shop, i can use a D-Pad to select it)

Especially when you think about the fact that they owe it to PS2 owners after delivering a great game in the past.

Oh wait...

@ChromeAlchemist:
I think Odin Sphere sold well in Japan and in the other markets as well. Problem is, we don't really have the sales figures for Odin Sphere so people have gravitated to assume that it didn't sell well or something.

I'd prefer if this stayed a Wii exclusive but if they're going to put it on a different console I wish they'd just say so. I don't want to keep seeing these lame little hints for a year before they make up their minds.

I'd play it for Wii and probably play it for one of the HD systems, too. I'd rather have it on the PS3 or 360, anyway...since it'll look nicer AND have trophies/achievements (POINTS!!!). Plus, it'll sell better on those systems. But, I'm definitely not going to hold out for an HD release. I'm already dusting off my Wii in preparation!!!

It wouldn't sell better. In fact it may not even sell better as an XBLA or PSN title. Look how much Odin Sphere sold, it barely made it past 300k. Plus you're forgetting it doesn't have bloom lighting nor does it meld with the common trend of titles on those systems.

@ChromeAlchemist:
There's a Greatest Hits version of Odin Sphere being marketed:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IONGU4/ref=s9_simb_gw_xu_s3_p63_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=03G30F5NZYA425EJ6Y27&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

Secondly, where did your numbers come from? I'm pretty sure that Odin Sphere did much better than your aforementioned 300k sales.

Interesting. Considering this said HD in the title I expected a shit storm, but I guess this news isn't negative enough. Oh well, I guess the trolls will just save up their ammo for another day.

Hinting that a game may come out for a different console seems like a good way to get people to not buy the current version.

Vanillaware? What an interesting name for a developer.

For a second I thought you were labeling the game as banal and uninspired.
