What Sega is making now: lots of swag

Sega of Europe had a bunch of swag made up for its "Summer Sizzle" event and, knowing how much we enjoy looking at things with the Sega logo on them, posted some pictures of the bounty handed out to lucky attendees. We'll highlight each item while also highlighting a video game that Sega passed over in favor of inconsequential swag.

Sega t-shirt (produced instead of the Wii Jet Set Radio game)
Sega water bottle holder (just cut into the budget that would have gone into a new traditional Phantasy Star RPG)
Sega fan (sorry, human Sega fans -- no Yakuza 3 localization!)
Sega flash drive (the data for Panzer Dragoon Saga 2 might fit on here, if Sega made it)
Sega flip-flops ("We're making Shenmue 3! No, no we're not.")

Jet set radio pls.

jet set radio needs at least be re-released as an xbox original or xbla game.

Rumour has it that Headstrong games were giving a list of games they could make for Sega and their first choice was Jet Set Radio, but Sega didn't think it would work, so they went with House of the Dead.

Since that turned out to be so succesful, it's possible they'll be allowed to go back and work on whatever else they want, hopefully without Sega objecting.

Well, we can hope anyway. I'd be happy enough with an XBLA release.

Ahhh! a list of Games; everyone of which I'd buy along with countless others. Instead SEGA insists on making terrible versions of Sonic amongst other things, none of which sell very well. Sigh!

seriously why can't sega see that it has some great title just waiting for a sequel. panzer orta was alright but saga was the best of the series and it needs a direct or spiritual sequel.

Yeah, I'd love a Panzer Dragoon sequel, but I have a feeling that only I and four other people would bother buying the game.

Not that would impede my enjoyment of the game, but any sales failure would threaten the future life of the series. Plus, Team Andromeda/Smilebit are dead - I wouldn't want PD to be outsourced.

You know, most of the old teams that made SEGA's best games (Shining Force, Phantasy Star 1-4, Panzer Dragoon...) are all gone with the wind. What happened?

Is this on the "road map" to "fixing" Sonic?

My thoughts exactly... The shirt, fan and shoes look like something they would have given out in the 90s... but maybe that is a good thing, SEGA was good in the 90s...

Nobody buys even SEGA's good games or remakes, so I don't blame them for not churning out sequels of their good properities :P it's really sad. I wish SEGA would just develop games and Nintendo/MS/Sony would publish them, they'd actually sell with a different label on the front and a different marketing team.

I will still never forget beating Shenmue 2 with my sister and thinking "wow, I can't wait to see how this ends..." It's a shame.
