John Riccitiello is well-known as a man accustomed to living on the edge. His opinions, often controversial and polarizing, frequently tear rifts between factions of the gaming community. We imagine his latest outburst will be no different -- during EA's Q1 conference call, the polemical CEO said, "We think pricing will move hardware," and added, "We anticipate price cuts at some point and we'd like to see them later in the year."
Sure, this may seem like the popular opinion right now, but there's plenty of folks who hold opposing beliefs. Like us -- we wouldn't mind seeing a universal increase in the price of consoles. You know, to keep the proles out.

Which one is it showing? Because it's just cycling through all the ones I've ever uploaded for me. Right now, it's showing Storm Eagle's intro after you select him in MMX for me.

It's showing the BlazBlue fellow doing that anime character thing (Hand outstretched clutching an invisible fruit or ball).

It's that avatar that a lot of people seem to be using now (I don't have a clue how you do it though) and it's annoying because your username is too large..

I apologize, I shouldn't have changed it so many times. But I see this a lot where it randomly changes people's avatars or doesn't display them at all. Joystiq/AOL needs to fix that. Or atleast let us clear the one's we've uploaded and start fresh with just one...

It only happens to a select few people, so I really thought that it was some kind of weird avatar that you were using. If, like you said, it's Joystiq/AOL's fault then they should change it asap, it's a bit annoying sometimes.
Now it's fine, you're back to Storm Eagle's avatar.

I think it's a weblogs, inc. problem overall, since i notified Chris of it in late January, and he notified Justin Glow, and nothing has been done. So i can presume its either out of his jurisdiction or just too complicated of a problem to fix.
At this point, i kinda want to see how many avatars i can cram in there before the system starts forgetting some of them

Or if you're an EA employee and pay only $20 for console EA games and $10 for PC EA games. Imagine seeing those prices in stores.

Especially now that the PS3 is rumored to cost like 70% less to build... Pass that savings along to us consumers, Sony! Maybe some of us will actually buy your overpriced/oversized Blu-Ray player and I dunno.. Maybe play games on it or something. Damn I wanna play Fat Princess!!

The rumours about the PS3 price cut, slim and reduction of manufacturing costs could be stalling sales. As much as they say they won't I'm sure Sony will have to cut the price since people seem to be holding out at the moment...

dammm my comment was downvoted because I don't like a PS3 price increase? wow pass the weed please, because what you are all smoking is really potent. Maybe I'll get voted up if I said I wanted the PS3 price to increase to a 1000 bucks?
naaaaahhhh that could't be it... maybe it was because I said Joistiq editors are smokers... yeah that should be it... *really, people can't be so stupid as actually wish for an increase... or can they?...* *oh well maybe I'm being too optimistic about their intelligence...*

Do I think price cuts would be a good thing? Yes, of course.
Do I think that publishers should be calling out console makers about this? No, of course not.

Really, right? I dunno why all these guys are up in arms about dropping the hardware price. Most of their games aren't warranting the $60 tag these days. Some do, but it's not very common.
The console manufacturers get a piece of the software sale as well, so it's a give and take. Usually the hardware is a loss and the games and accessories are a gain See $150 (maybe $130 on sale) 120G HD from MS.. i mean seriously 120G SATA 2.5" drives are $55 (who wouldn't get 250-320 anyway..), and what's up with a USB wireless-G Adapter still costing $80 ($100 at brick and mortar) when they should be $30.
A console drop is not out of the question, I mean that's the main entry point to the platform, it comes before the games are purchased. So it makes sense, but I still think the games themselves are priced too high in many cases.

You know what... I would like to see console price cuts this year too. Hell make them all free for that matter so we don't have to keep reading about it everyday. Just go down to your local Target or Wall-Mart get in line and get your free system (then get back in line). What makes it so bad is that I currently own all of them (technically my son has a 360 and Wii but I bought the damn thing).
I don't understand everybody's obsession with a price cuts. Truth be told if there is a price cut the majority of the people still would't get one, or find something else to bitch about. Most people have already chosen their sides in this War and if you haven't invested in "the other" system that you have just spent the last (x) number of years bashing yet, chances are you are not going to.
I will be so glad when Joystiq could post an Article that states "PS3, Wii, 360, DS, PSP,PSP-GO all have a $200 price cut..... Consumers Rejoice" It will still be 200 comments about why console (A) is sucks and console (B) rules.

I could ramble on and tell you how much of an idiot you are, but see, I just woke up and I think your comment speaks for itself. All I can picture right now is you with a bunch of sandbags hidding in your basement playing your console cause you think there is a war going on.
They should form a line for that 200 dollar price cut, so people know where to hurl the rocks at.

How am I wrong? All I was basically saying is that I would like to see a price cut too so people would stop complaining about systems being so expensive. With some people especially fanboys a price cut still wouldn't matter because some people are so hung up on one platform.

I agree plus something has to be said about spending time and not money. I'm an adult with other hobbies and a full-time job.
Sure, I have $350 to go drop on an xbox and a couple games, but, I don't have the time for more games. Even if xbox was $100 I wouldn't get it because for me one system is more than enough and Sony publishes the games I want so I have a PS3. For other people they like halo and Gears or Wii sports and only have the time for that.
