Persona to launch simultaneously on PSN and UMD

While we're entirely supportive of PSN releases, we recommend you buy the retail version if at all possible. Why? Only the retail version will include the bonus two-disc soundtrack; a digital version won't be bundled with the PSN game. Considering both the UMD and retail versions will cost the same at launch, it's a no-brainer as to which version of Persona you should buy.
For a full rundown on what's new in Persona, don't forget to check out Atlus' walkthrough video.

I want this SO BAD.

Digital release should always be cheaper now... that's a no-brainer Atlus/Sony.
Neuromancer @ Aug 5th 2009 6:33PM
I know, seriously
There is NO way bandwidth/server costs can be in the same league as production/transportation costs.
Professor Lario @ Aug 5th 2009 8:29PM
The 'same price argument,' while logically valid will not come to fruition. Yes they SHOULD cost less, but they won't. See, they scared us with $75 games and now they want us to be happy they are keeping them at $60 with digital downloads.
Yes, I am a cynic and partly a conspiracy theorist. : )
incendious @ Aug 5th 2009 8:36PM
The retail chains don’t want to be competing with cheaper downloadable formats. You'll find that some games that are PSN download only are priced usually fairly. It's when you have retail and digital games that the prices usually end up being equal.

No, he'll sue you for trying to get rid of him.

is this 30 or 40 bucks??/ since it's not coming with the soundtrack, i am willing to pay 30 bucks for it, 35 tops.
spirit1969 @ Aug 5th 2009 6:44PM
You would think there'd be a little more bonuses buying digitally. How hard is it to give away codes to a digital file. So the digital release is also the same price as a physical copy? Christ, I've almost downloaded some whole album of something I don't really want from iTunes just 'cuz they had extra tracks, remixes or booklets.
Jampirow @ Aug 5th 2009 6:48PM
Gawd, I so wish PSP games would run on my PS3. Never going to happen, though.
Baked Duck @ Aug 6th 2009 3:57AM
Yeah that would be nice. If the PS3 can emulate a PS1(2). Can it emulate a PSP?
Doron @ Aug 5th 2009 7:03PM
If you want to get a look at Persona games, may I suggest the GiantBomb.com Endurance Run (http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/ - click Endurance Run and go to the last page to start).
Think Persona game + mst3k type commentary as 2 dudes play through Persona 4.
Nadril @ Aug 5th 2009 7:05PM
Was going to suggest this. It's a lot of fun watching them, and it's even more fun watching all of the angry nerds getting mad at them for making a poor decision, haha.
Still the story is interesting enough that watching it is a lot of fun.
jorojoserojas @ Aug 5th 2009 11:25PM
From now on, I name all my Persona protagonists "Charlie Tunoku".

When is RBU coming to PSN dammit?!?!?

"Considering both the UMD and retail versions will cost the same at launch, it's a no-brainer as to which version of Persona you should buy."
Unless, of course, you can't do simple math and you're waiting to buy a PSP Go! instead of the cheaper PSP-3000 + 16 gb memory card.
Rogue5 @ Aug 6th 2009 12:01AM
Of course everyone should buy the retail one, but for those who have the PSP go they have no choice and get less stuff with it. It should be the same both ways, not having the same extras would make people think twice about buying the PSP go.
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Aug 6th 2009 3:01AM
this helps make the psp GO a little less relevant....
'maybe all the cool kids will want to have 1 though'
when nintendo dropped the GBA slot with the release of the DSi, it is nowhere as much a step backwards as deleting the current physical media drive from the handheld console like sony is moving forward with the GO...
good luck with it sony.... PS thanks.

Doug @ Aug 6th 2009 11:47AM
Okay...so...why would anyone buy the digital version again? What's the point of the PSP-Go again? Why download games when you end up getting screwed by Sony (again)?
PS. No Thanks.
sairo13 @ Aug 6th 2009 1:00PM
because digital version cant get scratched nubtard
