Rock Band: Metal Track Pack to feature Motorhead, Nazareth, more

A recent addition to the ESRB ratings list reveals an upcoming "Metal" track pack for Rock Band for PS2, PS3, Wii and 360. The ESRB rated the expansion with a "Teen" rating due to the upcoming pack's inclusion of songs with expletives "as well as allusions to violence." It's a good thing the game doesn't make detailed references to violence!

Example lyrics given by the ESRB reveal two of the track pack's songs: "D.O.A." by Haunted and "Transmaniacon MC" by Blue Oyster Cult, a brand new addition to the Rock Band franchise. A leaked achievement list also reveals "Killed by Death" by Motorhead, "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth, and "Master of the Universe" by Hawkwind as new songs exclusive to the pack. Considering the last Rock Band track pack debuted 13 new songs unavailable as DLC, we're confident that this new addition will do the same.

Rock Band: Metal Track Pack hasn't been announced yet, but considering the reliability of the ESRB's ratings, we expect EA and MTV Games to announce the full track list, along with the track pack itself, within the next few weeks.

- Psycho saying "fuck" and "bollocks" all the time in Crysis
- Enemies and allies getting shot with blood splatters in most games
- Non-swearing lyrics about fighting in songs that get substantial radio and TV airplay...?

It's a 15 in the UK, though I suppose the rating systems are very different, since M is 17 if I'm right? T is about 13-14?

You got me though. New example - Star Wars Republic Commando; has blood splatters, dismemberment and decapitated head rolling physics. Rated 12 here, T in the US.

I don't know how I feel about these track packs. Especially this one. The likelihood that I've purchased all of the songs that aren't new is very good and then what? I'm paying $30 for 11 new songs? No, thanks.

Yeah, I'll probably have to do some math when everything is announced to see if a purchase makes sense. More than likely I'll just buy the tracks when they inevitably come to the RB Music Store.

It's a deal as long as 15 or more songs are ones you haven't already bought as DLC. The Country Pack (The first one to feature NEW songs) had 13 new songs and 8 from existing DLC.

So if you bought all 8 songs through the store already, it would be better off just waiting until the songs hit the regular music store.

Every listened to any Blue Oyster Cult besides Don't Fear the Reaper? They were a major inspiration for most 70's and 80's heavy metal...

When i read "Metal" track pack, these weren't exactly the songs that strung to mind. Seems more of a "classic rock" pack more.

I've been staying away from the track packs since I bought Volume 2 for the Wii. Totally unplayable on all standard TVs I tried. Harmonix's solution was to send me new copies...which of course, had the same problem. The extra copies were great for trade-ins, though.

I like your track pack better. Where can I buy yours instead?

Out of the bands you listed, I would only be interested in Nile, Goatwhore, Enslaved, Immortal, and Quo Vadis.

The thing about people's taste in metal, Grimcicle, is that it is entirely subjective. You initially listed Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder and Ministry, none of whom I would consider metal at all.

Besides, a real metal track pack would be out of the question. Not enough people are into black, death, or German thrash metal to make something like that economically viable for Harmonix.

in other news the guitar hero dlc is complete and utter shit this month compared to last month

People every where have been assuming that Hair of the Dog is the original Nazareth version, but considering the fact that Harmonix has released several covers(Ring of Fire and Smooth Criminal) recently and considering they seem to be good with Guns N' Roses I think that it may actually be the much heavier and more metal Guns N' Roses cover of Hair of the Dog. Thats what I hope anyways I enjoy that version a lot more than the original.

I hope you're right, because that would mean other GNR stuff would be coming eventually. Sadly, Slash still has some ownership of the old stuff, which is probably why it won't show up on Rock Band (seeing as how he was in GHIII).
