A recent addition to the ESRB ratings list reveals an upcoming "Metal" track pack for Rock Band for PS2, PS3, Wii and 360. The ESRB rated the expansion with a "Teen" rating due to the upcoming pack's inclusion of songs with expletives "as well as allusions to violence." It's a good thing the game doesn't make detailed references to violence!
Example lyrics given by the ESRB reveal two of the track pack's songs: "D.O.A." by Haunted and "Transmaniacon MC" by Blue Oyster Cult, a brand new addition to the Rock Band franchise. A leaked achievement list also reveals "Killed by Death" by Motorhead, "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth, and "Master of the Universe" by Hawkwind as new songs exclusive to the pack. Considering the last Rock Band track pack debuted 13 new songs unavailable as DLC, we're confident that this new addition will do the same.
Rock Band: Metal Track Pack hasn't been announced yet, but considering the reliability of the ESRB's ratings, we expect EA and MTV Games to announce the full track list, along with the track pack itself, within the next few weeks.
[Thanks, Justin R.!]

Subjectivity in action. Check this out:
Even as far back as Grom, Behemoth was just ripping off other black metal bands (like Satyricon and early Ulver) who were doing the whole dark, medieval, foresty-sounding thing. Now that metalcore and grindy-brutality are all the rage, Behemoth are just leeching off of that trend. These days, they've got the ridiculous image of Dimmu Borgir and the originality of, well, Dimmu Borgir.
Black Dahlia Murder are mallcore. Simple as that.
Goatwhore are a mix between black metal and sludge metal, thus making their sound nothing at all like Behemoth's.

I think you're all missing the point. I can now sing "If you squeeze my lizard, I'll put my snake on you" for points, as opposed to in the middle of songs that are devoid of lizard squeezing.

I don't know if somebody mentioned this but before Harmonix played a Beatles demo they showed a video of things they have released/will release and the metal track pack was shown in that video.

I'm not a big fan of these packs, but Hair of the Dog is an instant purchase if it's released as DLC.

finally, a metal pack.. I just hope they don't saturate this with too much death and screamo metal.. I'd rather some old school like dio n black sabbath.

oh how i miss the days where there was rock, country, and pop(for the most part). now a days its nothing but a bitch fest about what is and isnt a certain genre of music....."______band is death metal", "no theyre not they are black metal, ______ band is death metal". who gives a rats ass what they are or what harmonix calles them. if you like the music, but it.....if you dont, save your money for a rainy day or something. although i dont like all the songs that are being released, i do buy about half, and im ok with that as i know not everyone likes the same music out there. IMO harmonix is trying to keep the number of genres to an absolute minimum(because it makes it alot easier on everyone). on my computer i have rock, country, pop, oldies, and classical, and pretty much everything that i have on my puter falls into one of those categories. just my 2 cents worth.

Nile, yes! Black Dahlia nooo. Amon Amarth, yes! Ministry noooo. And I saw Goatwhore when they played with Amon Amarth in Atlanta. Great band.
As for power metal, I'd like to see some GOOD power metal bands, such as the ones not named "Dragonforce," get a little more recognition. Blind Guardian and some Sonata Arctica material, please.

Haha, sounds a lot like my current playlist. Needs a little bit of Bathory and some Kreator for good measure. I noticed you threw some Rhapsody in there - so you do like at least some power metal? That's a pretty versatile list, very nice.

I hope that Motorhead pack would include:
Hellraiser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irtAfnPzxHg
Ace of Spades: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e5cqe_JE0Q
The Game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQzsK4FAnx0
And yes, it's obligatory for "Love Hurts" to be mentioned, every time Nazareth is brought up.

Where did they get their ideas for the metal pack?
It's been what,2 years now and we still don't have anything DLC from Anthrax,Dio,Type O Negative,Heaven and Hell,Pantera, etc etc.
Then they put Lacuna Coil in the metal pack. Ok.
