Considering you cant let your friend borrow the disk when you're done, this seems like a huge rip off. Come on MS, we need you to charge less that used games (or at least a couple bucks off of normal price), not overcharge.

that is a great point that I haven't really thought about. The wife and I like to trade games w/ friends sometimes.

Sometimes I trade games with strangers, in exchange for $. Last October, for example, I traded my copy of "Bioshock" for $20, which was $5 less than I had paid for it new. So yeah, charging $30 for a "Bioshock" download seems like marketing incompetence.

i hate to say this its not bad really....

i live in the caribbean and bioshock sells here for 65$! and i know some friends in sock back-woods places in the us where bioshock also sells at local shops for close to 40$ ....

this is going to be a godsend for me, no more getting ripped off, i'll gladly finally pick up bioshock 30$ should be nice for me!

Besides not being able to let your friends borrow your games... It's a waste of memory...
I pass gamestop on the way home from college, so i stop by every once in a while and pick up a game...

That's funny I bought Bioshock for $16 at Gamestop w/ my edge card last month... (used but in new condition no scratches or anything.)

the whole "unless the convenience of not leaving the house is worth $10 to you" argument doesn't really even apply here since you are ordering the games online from you computer. i guess the only downside would be having to wait for shipping. anyways, i am disappointed in these prices as well but i can't say i didn't see it coming. i mean they are charging 15 bucks for xbox originals so the next logical step would be to go up to 20 and 30 bucks for xbox 360 games......

That's Microsoft for you. On the Canadian Marketplace it's even more expensive: 2600 points.

Microsoft really doesn't get it. I guess they learned nothing from Xbox Originals.

People prefer physical media. Especially when it costs 50% less than digital.

I think they just wanna test the barrier they can't cross. But the stupid ass customers will buy it and Micro$oft will be pleased and change nothing.

Unfortunately, they probably did learn something from Xbox Originals, just not what we had hoped they would learn. I remember someone from MS (Aaron Greenburg, perhaps) saying something to the effect of the Xbox Originals program was doing very well and exceeded their expectations.

What's stupid about buying a game you want, but just can't seem to find? If they released Gunvalkyrie I'd pay $30 for it. I have also only seen a couple copies of Crimson Skies in the local GameStops around my place, and those are usually unplayable copies. If you really want to be a "physical media" elitist, I sure hope you've never downloaded an MP3, or "craked" software, otherwise your logic is flawed.

I can see a bunch of 360 games listed in the UK and they are all £19.99 or about 2400 points, too bad I can buy then from a bunch of online retailers for between £10 and £15.
Call of Duty 2
Need for Speed Carbon
Mass Effect
Assassins Creed
Viva Pinata
Oblivion

This should be a surprise. Didn't MS say that the prices would be on par with retail? While you can find BioShock for cheaper pretty easily ($20 on NewEgg for example), $30 is still MSRP. Having said that, it is kind of a disappointment. It would be nice to have some type of digital discount given the restrictive nature of the medium.

2400 Points is an impossibly awkward amount of points to get. And you can probably get all the UK games for much cheaper than £19.99.

Why the hell can't they just let you buy the exact amount of points you want?
Or even better, get rid of points entirely they just make everything more awkward.

This is a ripoff

You don't use points for 360 games on demand. They're using this weird new thing called sterling and dollars

Yea, you can use real money (I'm not actually sure why I complained about the points).

Still, as someone with a 20GB HDD, and who thinks that lack of a disk is a disadvantage, the prices are hardly going to convince me any time soon.

I didn't pay $30 for Bioshock when I got it a LOOONG time ago. It wasn't brand new when I got it, but it was only about 5 months old maybe. Microsoft needs to lower the prices if they really want to impress people. They need to compete or at least come CLOSE to Amazon and eBay. After 100% completion of the game, I turned around and sold it for the same price I paid for it... $20. (Actually I think I paid $24 for the game.)

This is such a scam. They think that we're not in a recession? The convenience does not outweigh EVERY OTHER FACTOR.
Do they think we spend blindly?

In Norway every game costs 299 NOK, witch is 49 USD... I will NOT buy ANY game at that price point. For many of the titles the price is double or tripple of local retail...
