EA reveals UK lovefest with FIFA 10 cover athletes
We've been known to dabble in a FIFA game from time to time, though cover athletes aren't really our forte, if you will. Rather than address our ignorance dead-on, we'll simply tell you that Frank Lampard of Chelsea, Theo Walcott of Arsenal and Wayne Rooney of Manchester United are donning the cover of this year's footballer.
Believe it or not, the game will feature more than just players from English teams. (Yes, we're just as shocked as you by that possibility.) The game is set to land in the UK on October 2, and Amazon and GameStop are putting the game's US release on October 20th.

I think it's the giant AIG logo on his chest.
GombastiC @ Aug 6th 2009 3:48AM
Seriously? You don`t know who Wayne Rooney is? Welcome to he place we call the world people...
ifalldownstairs @ Aug 6th 2009 4:07AM
ok GombastiC, as a moderate fan of international and european club soccer, i obviously know and recognize Rooney and Lampard, but who the fuck is Theo Walcott?
MaliceMajorE15 @ Aug 6th 2009 4:55AM
theo walcott is the current "wonderkid" on the english football scene. his star really burst onto the international scene when he scored a hat-trick in only his second full international match and he has had a string of blinding games for arsenal on the european stage.
Its only natural an american might not know, most of them havent got particular intrest in european "soccer", just like the rest of the world couldnt care less about american "football", baseball or hockey (cept japan who actually like baseball)
The Dark Wayne @ Aug 6th 2009 5:24AM
pfft. this isnt the world luigi, this is america. We dont play soccer here! Now git!
Maverick Saturn (Igor) @ Aug 6th 2009 5:40AM
This isn't the world? Last time I checked it was :/
The Dark Wayne @ Aug 6th 2009 5:50AM

The Baron @ Aug 6th 2009 9:45AM

You should look at yourself in the mirror, before you start laughing at people on how they look.
dblakenz @ Aug 6th 2009 3:39PM
THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAA!
The Good Soldier Svejk @ Aug 6th 2009 5:13PM
Rooney looks that way due a unique overabundance of testosterone, awesome and pies.
xbox420king @ Aug 6th 2009 2:08AM
Screw English teams in playing with Chivas!
Dr.House (GT:DiGiTAL SiN254) @ Aug 6th 2009 2:07AM
We all know Tim Howard should be on the cover after that game against Spain.
The Dark Wang(Wiizer Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 2:09AM
For a second I thought you meant the guy that makes The Elder Scrolls games and Fallout 3
The Dark Wang(Wiizer Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 2:19AM
Also, your avatar scares me. *runs away*
Dr.House (GT:DiGiTAL SiN254) @ Aug 6th 2009 2:21AM
That counts as a complement.
65 cents
Damian @ Aug 6th 2009 8:27AM
Todd Howard should be on the cover of everything, he made Fallout 3 for gods sake!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wardo @ Aug 6th 2009 2:13AM

His armband proved, he was a red Torres Torres
You'll never walk alone it said, Torres Torres
We bought the lad from Sunny Spain,

Fernando Torres Liverpools Number Nine
bigphil2003 @ Aug 6th 2009 5:53AM
He's half a girl, He's half a boy, Torres, Torres.
He looks just like a transvestite, Torres, Torres.
He wears a frock, he loves the c*ck, he sells his ass on Albert Dock
Fernando Torres, Carragher's bit on the side!
Daviesifier @ Aug 6th 2009 7:11AM
I would imagine it's got something to do with the fact Torres is on the cover of the new PES.
i.c. weiner @ Aug 6th 2009 1:56PM

Jesus (PSN: Luttdawg) @ Aug 6th 2009 4:39AM
Wow, joystiq are noobs when it comes to football. I understand it isn't a yank thing but.
Ben Gilbert @ Aug 6th 2009 9:10AM
It's a yank thing. Also, it's a Ben Gilbert thing. I don't know anything about ANY sports, none the less soccer. I know a teeny tiny bit about early to mid-'90s hockey, but that's it. Sorry! The picture's funny though, right? Right?!
Ashitaka @ Aug 6th 2009 2:05PM
The funny thing is that football (not soccer) is easier to understand than other sports. It's probably one of the easiest sports to understand.
adamantypants @ Aug 6th 2009 4:43AM
WALCOTT!!! Gunners ftmfw.
And to the shit talkers, feel free to join the rest of the world in our love of football.
DOWN RANK ME NOW.
ddub @ Aug 6th 2009 5:13AM
can't believe they won't continue to have different people on the cover in different regions
Greg2k @ Aug 6th 2009 7:23AM
They will, Joystiq are just jumping the gun here.
Crimson Major @ Aug 6th 2009 5:19AM
Where is the Man City love eh?
ArchiGamer 2.0 [Wiizer Sweatshop Human Resources] @ Aug 6th 2009 5:46AM
Man City sounds like a name of a gay club or something if you ask me....
joe @ Aug 6th 2009 7:37AM
man city are rubbish they have bought average players, adebayor springs to mind. as an arsenal fan i am the first one to admit that he did absolutely nothing last season the only way he got 16 goals or whatever was because most of them were tap ins, when hes trying to score his legs look like a horse falling down stairs.
roque santa cruz? belemy? dont make me laugh. ever wondered why toure hardly got any first team action at arsenal last season.
dont take it personally, my comment was aimed at man city in general
barbour9 @ Aug 6th 2009 5:41AM
This is exactly how I feel when I have to write about NBA, NHL or NFL - completely lost and stupid to Americans, which I think is ironic...
The Dark Wayne @ Aug 6th 2009 5:51AM
it's ironic how you dont know what ironic means, in fact, that isnt even ironic. It's just stupid, just like you are for being an asshole and saying 330million people are stupid.
ArchiGamer 2.0 [Wiizer Sweatshop Human Resources] @ Aug 6th 2009 5:56AM
Its actually ironic, Wayne, cause he's calling the us idiots even though he's the one looking like an idiot.
Hmm, now I want to hear Alanis Morrisette(sp?).....
ArchiGamer 2.0 [Wiizer Sweatshop Human Resources] @ Aug 6th 2009 5:58AM
Hmm that should be 'US' not 'us'......
Might as well call myself Mister Irony now......
bigphil2003 @ Aug 6th 2009 5:55AM
"Believe it or not, the game will feature more than just players from English teams. (Yes, we're just as shocked as you by that possibility.) "
Oh yeah, because Madden, NBA etc. have players from teams all over the world...
deanb @ Aug 6th 2009 7:08AM
Finally, somebody said it.
