Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Editions to actually be limited

The gaming community really throws the word "limited" around with little thought of its meaning. Walk down the Xbox 360 aisle of any GameStop -- there's more Halo 3 Limited Collector's Editions than there are stars in the sky. However, it sounds like Infinity Ward's upcoming blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have a limited edition worthy of the adjective -- no additional copies of the Prestige Edition of the game will be made following the title's release.

In an interview with IGN, Infinity's Robert Bowling discusses the creative forces behind the opulent, night-vision goggles-equipped collector's edition, and explained its eventual scarcity. According to him, only one set of individually numbered Prestige Editions will be produced -- though retail chains have requested the developer create even more prestigious units. Seems like parties interested in acquiring the bundle will need to act quickly -- lest they be forced to resort to desperate, crafty measures.

From someone who has a large collection of comic, film and game related statues, maquettes and action figures i can say that this shit will not be nearly limited as they're saying, not for something this popular

Gamestop is still taking preorders for Prestige edition. I just tried it.

Who cares. Just let me buy the game for both consoles for less than $70. Let that be "version".

come on guys why is anybody seriously going the buy the prestige edition, all it takes is a quick glance at the NV goggles and your mind should be made up, its laughable how plasticy they are. sure they'll be cool for approximately 10 minutes but then they'll just fall into the garbage pile that has transformed itself into a mountain range in your bedroom.

i will be waiting for the desperate cries of anger from people all over the country when they come to terms with the fact that they have wasted a bucket load of cash.

i am sure my advice will be to no avail since most of you have already pre-ordered it but to those very few who haven't i salute you.

I just pre-ordered on Amazon. You can all laugh at me now, but once the zombie invasion starts I'll be able to see them coming in the night! (runs back to prepare for L4D2 and Dead Rising 2)
