Speaking to MTV, District 9 director Neill Blomkamp discussed his role in the ill-fated Halo film before it was unceremoniously canned. According to Blomkamp, he poured five months into the movie. He says he worked on the film "24 hours a day," adding that he feels that the "the whole [Halo] universe is incredibly compelling." Still, he reiterates his belief that he probably wouldn't return to Halo, saying, "When you spend five months working on something like that, and then you just get the rug pulled out from underneath you, it's not easy to kind of go back to that."
While he says that he loves the creative part of the process, and adds that District 9 "got born" out of the ordeal, it would be "difficult" to return to Halo. "I wish I could," says Blomkamp, "but I'm not sure that I would be able to."

i don't understand why it's so hard for them to make a Halo movie. so many people would watch it, do these people (studios) not understand the concept of "free money?"
anyway, he says that now, but in a few months i bet he would take it if offered, especially considered the cash involved.

i was just going to say he just said it was very compelling, but he doesn't want to go back... shame certain directors work for cash instead of treking through to get their ideas to fruition.

Yea, I'm sure a big fat paycheck would make him get over it real quick. What a girl!

Pretty much. I'm sure if he spent 5 months working 24/7 on it and considers it interesting it wouldn't be THAT hard to get him back. I'm more interested in District 9 though.

Enough with the sentimental speech about not wanting to voice act in a giant game/movie. This isn't even dramatic enough for media coverage; why is he doing it?!

Screw that, I would NOT have known about a game I'm now interested in had you NOT just put that link in for WET.
If you think it's great, keep telling people. Who cares what some person named SONY BOY says - obviously the guy doesn't know how to think for himself if he names himself after a CORPORATION.
Ironic you're being told what to do by someone who names himself after a mega-corporation, isn't it!?

I would rather them do a CG movie like the cutscenes in Halo Wars.

This sucks, it's odd how people won't just make this freakin movie..
I mean Sony has deals of already bringing out an Uncharted movie, inFamous movie, and even a Metal Gear movie (Not sure if a MGS movie is true or not).

Because most video game movies suck and do well below average.
Personally, district 9 will be awesome. Heres hoping that maybe someone will make a sim3 pack of stuff...then I can create my own district (and then maybe i'll try the sims for the first time).

Just give him money? For starters, I'm sure all other projects will give him all the money he desires. He's a hotsh*t director with a bright future. And secondly, it really is about dignity at this point. Treat an artist like crap, you're likely never to hear from him again. You think this guy is hurting for respect from other producers? He's got Peter "The Man" Jackson in his corner, you think he needs the slimy producers of a generic IP anymore? Plus the hype for his new feature. The executive producers from Halo can suck it. They're looking for a puppet to push around, I doubt Blomkemp will be that puppet anymore.
