Risk: Halo Wars gets a bombastic, gameplay-free trailer

According to the game's website, it's due out in August 2009 -- which is right now, last time we checked the calendar. One word to the creators: give us a trailer showing some actual gameplay, and not just rotating views of the gamepieces and some concept art. Maybe you can even hire an aging celebrity to be in a commercial for the game, just like Milton Bradley did with Dark Tower back in the day.
Just a thought.

I have five different versions of Risk. Looks like I'm about to make it six.
aacman007 @ Aug 9th 2009 2:52AM
I've never played Risk. Then I saw this. Then I got an erection and kept a wiki page of Risk open for a week now, reading it.
Finally I pirated Risk 2. It's fun. I shall enjoy it. Awesome.
fffunfarm06 @ Aug 6th 2009 1:06AM
damn microsoft is milkin it dry!
Sly [Wiizer Sweatshop Raccoon] @ Aug 6th 2009 2:18AM
halo, unlike other milked games, has only had 3 main ones and 1 spinoff released so far. not bad.
Damian @ Aug 6th 2009 8:33AM
Yeah halo has barely been milked yet,one spin off doesnt count as milked, thats like saying fallout has been milked,or guit-oh wait.
gordo @ Aug 6th 2009 1:07AM
Should have developed a better marketing "Stratego" for this "Risk"-y investment.
Wardo @ Aug 6th 2009 1:50AM
BOOOOO!
GANNONSMASH @ Aug 6th 2009 2:28AM
Boooourns!
TakeCTRL @ Aug 7th 2009 12:31AM
so is sony milking MGS? 1, 2, 2 Sons of liberty, 3, 3: snake eater 4, integral, substance, subsistence, acid, acid 2, portable ops, iphone, and the other 3 that are on the way peacewalker, rising, and that arcade one.
what is that 16?
TakeCTRL @ Aug 7th 2009 12:33AM
opps that was suppose to go to funfarm. and also that's 17 i forgot the comma before #4.
Longhorn (August 18: D-Day) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:07AM
This milk is starting to taste sour
The Dark Wang(Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:11AM
Stop being a fanboy. People like you make ps3 owners look bad. I LOVE Sony, but I don't bash microsoft, because it's stupid and makes you look pathetic.
Courtney @ Aug 6th 2009 1:14AM
Ya know, calling out Microsoft for milking Halo isn't really being a fanboy (even if it is a fanboy saying it). It might be painfully obvious, but hardly fanboyish.
The Dark Wang(Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:16AM
Yes, but he is obviously a fanboy and the people that love Halo (I HATE Halo) get annoyed by it for obvious reasons.
BloodShot Robot @ Aug 6th 2009 1:17AM
I think he was making a reference more about how Microsoft is squeezing every penny out of Halo it can get. I kind of agree.
gordo @ Aug 6th 2009 1:17AM
Courtney's right.
There is nothing fanboy about calling out Hasboro ports of flagships IPs
The Dark Wang(Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:22AM
I know that if someone bashed something I'm looking forward to I would be annoyed, but whatever.
Longhorn (August 18: D-Day) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:22AM
wonder why you ignored fffunfarm06 comment and went straight for me
You know whats more pathetic, you talking about your penis
The Dark Wang(Wiizer Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:26AM
I went to you because I seen your name and wanted to see what you had to say, because I usually only read comments of people that are on here frequently.
ArchiGamer 2.0 [Wiizer Sweatshop Human Resources] @ Aug 6th 2009 1:34AM
I wouldn't necessarily call this milking.....yet.
The Dark Wang(Wiizer Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:35AM
HAHA
Listen to ArchiGamer, he's always been my fave. *stares at archigamer*
Longhorn (August 18: D-Day) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:36AM
you wouldnt call this milking?
What? This is basically rotten milk
sonicspike41 @ Aug 6th 2009 1:36AM
Like turning Mario into an RPG character, a platformer, a tennis player, a race driver, an Olympics competitor, a painter, a pinball player, a baseball player, an elementary teacher, a minigame-fest, a referee, a fighter, a live-action movie star, an animated TV star, a comic book star, a golfer, a soccer player, a basketball player, a tetris master, and more isn't milking a character?
If you're going to harpoon Microsoft/Bungie for all the Halo media, then I suggest you also harpoon Nintendo for selling Mario out to anyone that will have him, otherwise you'd be a blind fanboy wouldn't you?
Most of the Halo series is great, most of the Mario games are great, many Sonic games were great, and many of the Final Fantasy games were great. All companies tend to "loan" their mascots out from time to time. How many versions of Monopoly has Nintendo helped create I wonder? How many cereals, alarm clocks, or candies have used Sonic to sell themselves?
The Dark Wang(Wiizer Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:38AM
If you wanna see milked franchises look at The Sims. Thats been milked more than anything else and it's made by EA not Activision.
Longhorn (August 18: D-Day) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:40AM
yeah but this aint a post about Mario or Sonic now is it
ArchiGamer 2.0 [Wiizer Sweatshop Human Resources] @ Aug 6th 2009 1:41AM
*sees Wang staring*
Umm....thanks? I guess.....
*runs away*
sonicspike41 @ Aug 6th 2009 1:42AM
So then Longhorn, if tomorrow Joystiq were to post about a new Mario Monopoly game, you'd say the same thing about Mario?
Longhorn (August 18: D-Day) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:43AM
if its in the front page, which I doubt it will
sonicspike41 @ Aug 6th 2009 1:44AM
I'm going to hold you to that, but for now I'm satisfied.
The Dark Wang(Wiizer Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:50AM
What if its LittleBigPlanet Monopoly or Uncharted or God of War?
Longhorn (August 18: D-Day) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:53AM
I dont have to worry about that because it will never happen
The Dark Wang(Wiizer Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:56AM
It might. Ever since Phil Harrison left, Sony hasn't been the same.
sonicspike41 @ Aug 6th 2009 2:41AM
I don't think Sony has any franchises big enough to have their own Monopoly or Risk game yet. If anything LBP would probably be the most recognizable game this generation, but that isn't as dated as Master Cheif or Mario.
Sly [Wiizer Sweatshop Raccoon] @ Aug 6th 2009 3:01AM
longhorn, by your definition, ratchet and clank is really milked too. halo has had 4 games (including spinoffs) released so far. R&C has had 10 released, and the next is coming later this year.
response?
the awesome @ Aug 6th 2009 3:21AM
sonicspike, I think you forgot doctor.
Sly [Wiizer Sweatshop Raccoon] @ Aug 6th 2009 3:33AM
"I don't think Sony has any franchises big enough to have their own Monopoly or Risk game yet. If anything LBP would probably be the most recognizable game this generation"
1 word: Kratos. i could ask a bunch of people on my friends list who sackboy is. half of them wouldn't know. i could ask the same question about kratos, and most would know.
fffunfarm06 @ Aug 6th 2009 3:45AM
im gonna be on here more dark wang, ive been on joystiq since 05 sucka but they deleted my account after i bashed justin 2 years ago. they gave me the banhammer those mother fuckers.
neways yeah you milk a franchise dry when you begin to lack innovation and bungie was and fell behind the times by cod4. but they keep on shoving it in our faces with more of it.
i just wish bungie would take a break from halo and in 4 5 years just blow our minds. like a good metal gear game.
sonicspike41 @ Aug 6th 2009 4:33AM
@the awesome
Did I? "a basketball player, a tetris master...." I was referring to the Dr. Mario games, which are similar to tetris. Probably not the most accurate comparison, but I was talking about Dr. Mario.
Snowblind @ Aug 6th 2009 5:15AM
Like I pointed out to you before, look at games like Ratchet & Clank, Metal Gear Solid, hell give God of War another year or two and it'll have a few more spin-offs. What about LBP? The only thing that's stopping them from milking that as hard as possible is its relatively poor sales, yes they've picked up recently but mainly due to the game being given away with every console and it being sold dirt cheap.
But if you think Halo is anywhere near as bad as Ratchet or MGS, let alone things like Call of Duty or Guitar Hero then you're clearly blind, a moron or a fanboy. But judging by the rest of your posts, I'll go with all three.
nutman @ Aug 6th 2009 9:27AM
Longhorn is right. LittleBigPlanet or Uncharted board games will never happen.
Because people don't buy Littlebigplanet or Uncharted video games so why would they make a board game?
Storm Eagle [Wiizer Sweatshop R&D] @ Aug 6th 2009 9:35AM
Well let's see, Kratos is showing up in the new SoulCalibur (+1 Milking), They're doing an Uncharted movie (that's worth major milking points), and Ratchet and Clank, well those two are everywhere. Either together or on their own. It's only a matter of time before they have some 3D animated movie out. Not that ANY of this bothers me, but it's all fact and it happens.
Chibi Chaingun - blackhivemedia.com @ Aug 6th 2009 10:19AM
Please. ANY game..or any merchandise for that matter... that is successful gets "milked". It's called maximizing your profits and expanding your market. Longhorn thinks its better to just not make money. Guess that's why he's all up on Sony. ;) OOOHH.
Knight Marquise @ Aug 6th 2009 11:01AM
Well, you're a well known fanbot and Sony schill. I guess we can add "tool" onto your resume as well. You're getting worse then Cody.
keroro645 @ Aug 6th 2009 5:52PM
Another to the long line of replies :D
MarkHawk @ Aug 6th 2009 1:09AM
Wonder how they'll work in Lag...
Trunks @ Aug 6th 2009 1:11AM
I dunno. This game sounds a bit...
Risky.
Premature ejaculation man @ Aug 6th 2009 6:55AM
Oh jolly good show there.
Courtney @ Aug 6th 2009 1:11AM
Screw Risk: Halo Edition, I want a copy of that Dark Tower game (how the hell do I not remember that from my childhood?).
ArchiGamer 2.0 [Wiizer Sweatshop Human Resources] @ Aug 6th 2009 1:13AM
Teabagging confirmed?
The Dark Wang(Wiizer Sweatshop Dick) @ Aug 6th 2009 1:24AM
If so I'm gonna get it!!
