numark are known for making great decks BUT not game peripherals (unless they had help by another company im not sure) so i dunno, i am leaning on buying scratch for the deck and gamefly'ing dj hero

They'd better start getting some great video clips out there. DJ Hero is SLAMMING them on that front and looking damned good while they're doing it. Originally, Scratch had me in their corner, but the clips from DJ Hero are sounding oh, so sweet.

It sounds like they'll have a better setlist (for hip-hop at least) than DJ Hero but I don't like the peripheral much.. DJ Hero's seems more innovative.

What's so great about the DJ Hero controller? It's got a non-moving record thingy with frickin BUTTONS on it, plus a crossfader and another button. It's like they just took apart a Guitar Hero controller and put it in a new piece of plastic. The Scratch:TUDJ controller, on the other hand, actually looks like something a DJ might use with a CD or mp3 setup, as well as being somewhat reminiscent of Beatmania.

The thing is, though, that the DJ Hero record DOES move. And Scratch, both in terms of gameplay and the peripheral, isn't so much reminiscent of Beatmania as it IS Beatmania. I'd much rather go for the gameplay innovation that DJ Hero provides, particularly since it appears to be much more DJ-like to play than Scratch, even if the turntable doesn't have the DJ brand name on it.

"since it appears to be much more DJ-like to play than Scratch"

If you get two different DJ's to play the same discs, the outcome will be completely different depending on their individual style

DJ Hero forces you to play the same thing over and over making it essentially guitar hero with a DJ theme.

Scratch, on the other hand, lets you scratch and lay down beats whenever you want (like a real DJ) and you get points as long as its in time with the song, in other words, every time you play it can be different, you can play the song as the cart wants you to, next time you play the song you can change up the beat sequence and get an entirely different sounding song.

they should get some proper DJs and electronica too ontop of the mainstream hip hop. I wanna hear some birdy nam nam, pendulum, daft punk, potbelleez....
