Andrew @ Aug 7th 2009 10:33PM
maybe there's a mode that lets you watch the virtual beatles play the song
Lambrick @ Aug 8th 2009 3:56AM
no, i think it's expert mode, or some crap like that. it's already in the old rock band games. no notes to watch, just your memory going crazy. then again, i think they have some sort of bot play for these video trailers.
Andre @ Aug 8th 2009 5:22AM
i've been curious how the guitar streams and vocal tracks were cut out of the video; was thinking the game has a "instant replay" mode of what you just played, sans the streams.
obo @ Aug 8th 2009 6:56PM
Rock Band 2:
Performance Mode
Press Blue(2), Red(2), Yellow(2), Blue(2). Alternately, press X(2), Y(2), B(2), X(2) on a controller. Performance mode removes the track display.
EricC @ Aug 9th 2009 9:46PM
@ Lambrick: Not sure why you got downranked for that. I think you might have hit the nail right on the head. Bunch of idiots on this site sometimes, it seems. (I, too, have been the victim of random, nonsensical downranking in the past.)
ToRo @ Aug 7th 2009 10:36PM
MAYBE DEY BE TRANFORMING AND SHIT.
Cheesus(Crust) @ Aug 7th 2009 11:15PM
Correction: "Transformin"!
Dave @ Aug 8th 2009 12:14AM
Correction: "Tranformin"! .............wait, SHIT!
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 7th 2009 10:38PM
I cannot stress enough how amazing this game looks.
SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Aug 7th 2009 10:39PM
Rock Band/Guitar Hero games feel much like MMORPGs these days.
They dish out dozens of trailers and cinematics, but at the end of the day all you're doing is pushing the same buttons over and over. Each song is just another spell in your spellbook.
...Unless I'm missing something, which I probably am.
Durden @ Aug 7th 2009 10:44PM
It's the fucking Beatles dude.
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 7th 2009 10:46PM
What he said.
WiredKnight @ Aug 7th 2009 11:31PM
You can boil down any game to "just pushing buttons."
But most people have enough fun playing games like Rockband with their friends to justify spending time just pushing buttons.
alamos @ Aug 8th 2009 1:39AM
So wait
All of the buttons I've pressed in any video game ever... it's like I'm playing an MMO?
milan @ Aug 8th 2009 6:34PM
yeah, in a lot of games, you push buttons and THINK... there is no thinking involved in many games....ie: chess is very much a thinking game, rock band is a game about understanding rhythm and developing dexterity (it has a little bit of thinking, but is mostly button pressing), and the only thing that matters in playing an MMO is how long you spending playing (meaning they are the biggest time wasters... but not by much)
SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Aug 7th 2009 10:40PM
I have total faith in your ability to suck ass.
Enough with the links.

catfish24 @ Aug 7th 2009 10:49PM
This game is going to be awesome. First day purchase for me definitely and that's saying a lot since I hardly ever buy games on release date.
isaac @ Aug 7th 2009 10:54PM
More Ringo Star Numbers!!
hahaha
Jimi @ Aug 7th 2009 10:59PM
Is anyone at all bothered by the fact that THERE WILL BE NO CHALLENGE. All their stuff is ridiculously simple to play. They were a pop band, not a progressive band.
Odowan @ Aug 7th 2009 11:03PM
No. Because the point of this game is not the challenge. The point is playing songs by The Beatles.
Dr. Ew @ Aug 7th 2009 11:06PM
#1. I don't think singing 3 part harmony will be a walk in the park.
#2. I'd prefer it be somewhat simplistic and feel like "playing" than cater to your ilk and over-chart, a la the GH series.
Voshempa @ Aug 7th 2009 11:08PM
Not progressive?! Learn something.
icemorebutts @ Aug 7th 2009 11:14PM
The first two Rock Bands have plenty of challenge toward the end and they don't overchart. All their songs are like 2 minutes long, and don't have any great solos. It's going to get boring because you're going to be playing the same thing over and over again. You're basically paying for Beatles karaoke with a Tier 1 level rhythm game tacked on.
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 7th 2009 11:20PM
Here Comes The Sun
Revolution
Get Back
Octopus's Garden.
These are all great guitar songs. Sure they're not as hard as Green Grass and High Tides or Painkiller, but whatever.
Dante Sparda @ Aug 7th 2009 11:28PM
chellenge =/= Fun
Fun is what counts, elite players need to stfu and gtfo
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 7th 2009 11:31PM
What Mr. Hendrix said.
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 7th 2009 11:32PM
Ignore that. I meant what Dante said.
WiredKnight @ Aug 7th 2009 11:36PM
Some people just really like their music? Maybe?
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 7th 2009 11:44PM
Oh yeah, WiredKnight. Favorite band of all time.
PN04 @ Aug 8th 2009 12:18AM
You, sir, are not the target demographic for this game if you're worried about challenge. Also there are plenty of songs in RB1 and 2 where the hardest part of the game is performing a 3 or 4 not combination over and over again. After awhile it's not about the challenge of hitting that 136 note hammer-on/Pull-off combo it's about trying to go 3 minutes without your hand cramping. You want to complain about difficulty then go play GH and it's over charted button mash fest.
I'm not even the biggest fan of the beatles, and I may or may not eventually buy it but even I understand that people who want the game want it because they're fans and they just want to play and/or sing the songs whether the game is mind meltingly difficult or not isnt even in their minds.
Maximun2k10 @ Aug 7th 2009 11:00PM
Beatles are so 1960...
Imitates Bruno's Voice
joexdelete @ Aug 7th 2009 11:04PM
should be interesting, wander if they ll have an ''ed Sullivan show'' set background.
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 7th 2009 11:06PM
Yeah, they do. It's pretty sweet looking.
BleachMan! @ Aug 7th 2009 11:07PM
I like how the crowd actually has faces now.
Well, three of them.
LD @ Aug 7th 2009 11:16PM
Or maybe you can watch people play online...
LD @ Aug 7th 2009 11:17PM
that was a reply to Andrew... sorry
Voshempa @ Aug 7th 2009 11:17PM
All of their songs are not 2 minutes long.
They have great solos. Taxman alone is greatness.
Same thing over and over? Pop, Rock, and Psychedelic (aka Variety).
Lastly, it's The Beatles. Nothing else needs to be said when that is said.
icemorebutts @ Aug 7th 2009 11:23PM
No, screw that. It's all pop. Just because they use different effects and play even fewer notes that usual does not make it interesting to PLAY, which is what you want to do right. It's not technically interesting music, which is going to make it boring. Rush is progressive, the Beatles are not.
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 7th 2009 11:29PM
Boy, do you have sand in your vagina. Sure, The Beatles aren't Prog, but they're more important to rock music than any other group (Yeah, yeah, I know all about Elvis and Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry. I said GROUP.).
icemorebutts @ Aug 7th 2009 11:35PM
I'm not saying they're unimportant. They are, for sure. And I'm not saying they weren't good, because they were. I'm saying, that they're a terrible choice to center a rhythm game around because nothing will be challenging. It doesn't need to be Dream Theater or Dragonforce, but come on, can't it be a little more difficult?
WiredKnight @ Aug 7th 2009 11:35PM
Maybe some people are okay with just playing along with music by The Beatles, and like the music enough to not mind that it's relatively easy?
Just a guess.
Voshempa @ Aug 7th 2009 11:40PM
For the 1960s, The Beatles were progressive. As for Rush, The Beatles had an influence on them and many many others.
It's The Beatles. It is great in so many ways to play them in this virtual world of gaming. I would love to be able to play on a real guitar and whatnot, but my skills and time are lacking, so I must settle for a few songs. With this game, I'll be able to connect in completely new way.
It's not about the challenge with these games (for me anyway), it's about playing songs that I enjoy. This game will do that every time I play.
Sinister Rouge @ Aug 7th 2009 11:56PM
Clearly you have not really listened to all of the Beatles music. Their early stuff will be really easy, because it is just well structured pop. But pretty much anything after "Rubber Soul" is going to be harder. Helter Skelter, A Day in The Life, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, I am The Walrus, Dig a Pony.... the list goes on. To say it is all simple pop stinks of ignorance of their music. But, since they broke up almost 40 years ago, it's understandable that some young people don't understand/like them. But, honestly, if you listen to a good mix of their music, it's hard not to like them. I will agree though, that many of their early songs will come off repetitive in this game. But, since it is the Beatles, it will be fun to play anyway.
Sinister Rouge @ Aug 8th 2009 12:01AM
Oh yeah, I forgot: Rush? Really? REAAAALLLY?! That band is stuck in a period. It will forever be the crap music of the 1980's and 90's. The Beatles transcend a time period. How else can you explain that they are making a game of them 40+ years later?
Really though, Rush is the best example you can come up with?
Sly Cooper @ Aug 8th 2009 1:04AM
@Alton
led zeppelin and pink floyd. those groups are the only groups on level with the beatles in terms of their influence.
Alton Brown And The Quest For The Missing Avatar @ Aug 8th 2009 2:07AM
Truer words were never spoken, Mr. Sly.
The Baron @ Aug 8th 2009 11:07AM
@SinisterRouge.
Just because a douchebag is a fan of Rush, you don't have to be a douchebag about Rush. Stuck in the 80's? Sure. Some of the most well-written and excellent of music of all time? Yes.
Sinister Rouge @ Aug 8th 2009 1:22PM
I apologize to Rush and fans. I shouldn't associate douchebaggery with them. Personally, I don't like them, but to each his own. But, really though, the best band he could come up with to match the Beatles is Rush?
Catdogburger @ Aug 7th 2009 11:20PM
Anybody else think those screaming girls in the background are annoying?
I hope I am not the only one!
KeenCommander @ Aug 7th 2009 11:27PM
I think that and seeing the camera cut to the same two girls in the audience will definitely get annoying after the first couple of songs once the novelty wears off.
