Wow a card game. Totally worth a countdown...

Then to top it off, they had to use a VII in the teaser to get everyone excited for nothing. That's a dick move squeenix.

Really? You mean to tell me you can't see the significance of that roman numeral when squeenix of all people is doing a countdown?

Obviously they did a roman numeral countdown just to cause buzz, for this very reason. But when you see VII, then VI, then V, etc., obviously the roman numerals didn't mean much at that point.

Besides, enough with the FFVII remake talk. FFVI was better. That is the one that needs to be remade before FFVII is.

Uh, every FF has had roman numerals, unless you are saying that if they used any number between 1-12 in a countdown they are obviously hinting at something special?

The XBLA one is TERRIBLE. There's no deck construction. You start with one preconstructed deck of the five colors, and as you win fights in single player it adds cards to the deck. Note that you can't add or subtract cards from your deck, so it doesn't change, it just gets bigger.

Best bet for Magic games is to play Magic Online in a Pauper's League, which severely limits the number of rares a deck may contain.

You know, by the time they actually decide to concede and remake Final Fantasy VII, no one will care anymore.

(cue slew of comments where people state they already don't care anymore)

Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black though? Calling another card game geeky just because it has a different style and substance when the game you are playing or buying cards for in other peoples opinion dorkish/kiddish/nerdish.

The whole idealism behind the card games, rpgs, fantasy & sci-fi novels is a form of escapism. The reason people play and buy those card games is because they like those style and the environment that is in the whole realm of the game.

I'm pretty interested, FF and one of my favourite Square franchises (SaGa) together, with the card making clout of M:tG behind it.

Shows promise.

Its a shame Americans are writing this game off. I had a chance to play the original Lord of Vermillion when I was in Japan back in January. It is a lot of fun. To me, it felt much more like an RTS than a "card game". The cards just represent your units and you move them along a bottom screen, which serves as a map. Its very fast paced and fun.

Here's to hoping at least this version makes it out here, but I doubt it. Its too sophisticated for our arcades.

...because it's a blast to play, it's never the same game twice, and it improves itself with nearly every new set it released. Also, even if it is geeky, who cares? The most entertaining forms of games and media are geeky, just look at VIDEOGAMES. Geekiness is something to worry about only if you give a sh*t about what other people think of you.
