Valkyria Chronicles 2 is big. (Well, other than the fact that it's portable.) How much bigger, you ask? Well, let's put this into perspective: whereas there were 5 character classes in the first game, the second game will have 35. Additionally, it appears characters will be able to evolve over time with a customizable branch system. In the first game, characters that leveled up automatically gained pre-determined bonuses, like character-specific "potentials." It'll be interesting to see if the second game gives more freedom to users to create a fully customized squad.

So SEGA really want PS3 owners to feel like crap because we're not getting this, huh.

5 was enough.... 35 classes are way too much.. especially if a squad can only hold 17..
This just got dumb.

This could either be great or really bad. A deep class system like in FFT is always nice, but one of the things that made VC so good was its balance between classes. How can they maintain that with 35 to choose from?
I also hope this doesn't detract from the series' core gameplay. With its minimal character customization options, the first VC demanded that all of your strategy happen on the field. There's nothing wrong with shifting the strategy to off the battlefield, but it wouldn't really be the same game that way.

I can't wait to see what all Sega does for this game. It's already shaping up to be better than the first.

I'm thinking that the 35 may not be as many as you think.
For example, I bet they are counting it as Scout - Upgraded Scout - Further upgrade d Scout are 3 different classes, despite the fact that the Further Upgraded Scout makes the first two obsolete.
In practice, it's probably closer to like 10 real independent classes. That's just speculation on my part though.
