Kid plays Guitar Hero while solving two Rubik's Cubes
We frequently like to joke that people who show remarkable adeptness at Guitar Hero are actually robots, but as you might imagine, we don't really mean it. However, after viewing a recent video (posted after the jump) showing a young man who not only plays through Ozzy Osborne's "Mr. Crowley" on Expert, but solves two Rubik's cubes while doing so, the only logical explanation we can come to is that his deft hands and keen mind must be composed of wires, servos and cold, unfeeling steel.
By the way, if you happen to speak ill of this young automaton's abilities due to his only receiving a score of 77 percent on the song, we're going to punch you in the heart. We may even call you a "stupid jerk," depending on how much of our ire you end up evoking.

hey kid, mr. sun called, he wants to see you again.
Obie @ Aug 8th 2009 10:27PM
I bet the ladies go NUTS for skills like his!
Tiptup300 @ Aug 8th 2009 10:59PM
That was literally the most boring video I've ever seen.
ToadStoolPorridge @ Aug 8th 2009 11:36PM
Yea, it's an alright story, but the video is now fun. I'm not going to be one of the people who says that he ONLY got 77% while solving a Rubiks cube, I know it's impressive, it's just not entertaining or interesting to watch.
kyou @ Aug 8th 2009 11:36PM
@Tiptup300
And how exactly could you figuratively watch the most boring video you've ever seen?
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Aug 9th 2009 2:07AM
@ tip
you win today's award for overuse of "literally"! A WINNER IS YOU! (it is the new "like"!)
Saria the Cat @ Aug 9th 2009 3:26AM
@Obie: I dunno, I thought it was pretty cool...Way cooler than a guy writing a really shitty love song and playing his guitar for me, anyway.
iluvmyzune @ Aug 9th 2009 3:39AM
if only he could convert all that into pussy?????
Dark Virus @ Aug 9th 2009 5:50AM
Obie is BURNED!!!
Obie @ Aug 9th 2009 1:18PM
@Saria: But that was OUR song! :(
kaneda @ Aug 9th 2009 8:17PM
What they don't show you is that he actually has his shoes off and is writing his dissertation on quantum mechanics with is feet. Playing GH while solving Rubik's Cubes is the only way he can concentrate.
__smooth__ @ Aug 10th 2009 11:13AM
just wail 'til GH: Van Halen is released. I'd love to see him try solving 1 rubik's cube whilst playing "Eruption".
Look At This Suit @ Aug 8th 2009 10:06PM
He's a wizard.
John B. @ Aug 8th 2009 11:39PM
A wizard? Hardly. In fact, I usually solve both cubes simultaneously with both hands while strumming with my toes. Don't get me wrong, though, kid's got a little talent...
Succulent @ Aug 8th 2009 11:45PM
Only a Cyborg would say that.
Riley @ Aug 9th 2009 4:30AM
There has to be a twist...
Espiownage @ Aug 10th 2009 10:23AM
@ John B.
Only two? Either your song was only a couple minutes long or you had a lot of time to focus purely on Guitar Hero
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 8th 2009 10:08PM
Call me a jerk, but this kid is fucking nuts. If you have that much time on your hand to perfect this circus act, you're an idiot just starving for attention.
Vote me down all you want, It's impressive but a waste of a talented ability of hand-eye coordination and multitasking.
Imagine what he could accomplish if he learned to play a real guitar...
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 8th 2009 10:12PM
Is that why there hasn't been any legendary guitarists this decade, because they're all playing rock band/guitar hero instead?
The Baron @ Aug 8th 2009 10:12PM
Or martial arts..
This kid could have taken down Al-Qaeda single handedly if he'd put in the time at the gym.
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 8th 2009 10:15PM
Can you imagine if Jimi Hendrix sat around all day throwing cards into a hat?
Riley @ Aug 8th 2009 10:22PM
How do you know he doesn't already know how to play guitar?
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 8th 2009 10:23PM
I assume cause he spends all his time playing a plastic one.
sprinkles @ Aug 8th 2009 10:23PM
What does playing a guitar have to do with playing a game and solving a rubiks cube?
This is an impressive display of multitasking, not guitar skills.
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 8th 2009 10:25PM
Ok, let me elaborate a bit.
I play guitar, and I do play Guitar Hero and Rockband... except the guitar part. I like to sing in it or play drums. Not guitar, since I don't see the point in playing along with a fake one if I can actually play along with music with my real guitar.
That's just me though, I understand alot of guitar players feel different about it.
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 8th 2009 10:28PM
Oh and Sprinkles, you clearly missed the point that I tried to make in my initial post. Also, you might want to change that name cause you're just begging for a ban or instant downvote, unless you really are Sprinkles. If that's the case, drinking gasoline is an option.

You wanna see a circus act? Try looking at me sing Painkiller.
(I'm darn good at singing, but Painkiller is a task even I can't completely nail)
Chris Are @ Aug 8th 2009 10:28PM
Ok, as long as you guys calling this kid a loser aren't the same people who think the "5 minutes through the original mario" guys are cool then whatever.
I think this is pretty cool! Go Guitar Hero Harry Potter, go!
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 8th 2009 10:32PM
No one called him a loser, I just said he was fucking nuts.
[tre, loquacious lover of long names and anti-activision ambassador that likes alliteration)] [blogs at trespeak.tumblr.com] @ Aug 8th 2009 10:40PM
And... the downvotes POUR in!
Neebs @ Aug 8th 2009 10:51PM
because it's FUN
and it's not called a call for attention
it's just entertainment.
you could argue any entertainment is just attention grabbing.
this is what youtube is! maybe he doesn't want to learn to play guitar; maybe this is fun and would provide entertainment to the masses
Conor @ Aug 8th 2009 10:56PM
No legendary guitarists eh?
Look up Mattew Bellamy.
Sly @ Aug 8th 2009 10:59PM
matthew bellamy is hardly legendary. good? yes. famous? to an extent. legendary? not at all. jimi hendrix is legendary. jimmy page is legendary. eddie van halen is legendary. not bellamy (at yet at least).
MRLN, Fountain of Wisdom and Wit @ Aug 8th 2009 11:14PM
He said in the very beginning that he spent a few hours over a couple of weeks. So he really didn't spend that much time and for all we know he's infiltrating Al-Queda's base as we type.
rkrocks123 @ Aug 8th 2009 11:15PM
That's because "No guitarist has become legendary in the past decade" is an idiotic statement. That's the whole point of becoming legendary! It doesn't happen in five or ten years. The people mentioned above have been around for decades - Muse has only been around for a few years. Give it time.
Vcize @ Aug 8th 2009 11:21PM
For fuck's sake man, people can be good at more than one thing.
We have a LOT of time in our lives. Plenty of time for diversions that are done just for fun. Plenty of people put just as much time and talent into drawing stuff they never plan on doing anything with other than throwing into a bin under their bin.
Not to mention, with the time most of us here spend playing videogames and posting on online blogs we could all probably be accomplishing plenty of stuff that actually means something, but it probably wouldn't be, you know, fun.
What the hell is with people's crazy notion that every waking second of a person's life has to be spent accomplishing something for the greater good, and how the hell are you spending enough time playing videogames to post on a game blog if that's what you do?
Imagine what he could do if he played a real guiter? Who the fuck cares? There are about 2 billion people in the world that play guitar and nobody knows who 1.999999999 billion of them are. There's only one person that's ever played through a guitar hero song on expert while solving two rubic's cubes. And who's to say he doesn't also play real guitar anyway?
Vcize @ Aug 8th 2009 11:23PM
under the bed*
guitar*
Sly @ Aug 8th 2009 11:24PM
"Muse has only been around for a few years. Give it time."
that's why i (was trying to) say "not yet at least". he may become legendary later on, but he isn't yet.
Wilhelm @ Aug 9th 2009 12:28AM
Well said Vcize, well said.
WINterfang @ Aug 9th 2009 1:03AM
Well if you aren't spending your time saving ponies and searching for the cure from cancer, you don't have the right to tell people how to live their lives.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Aug 9th 2009 2:09AM
You are sooooooo baaaaddd!
Riley @ Aug 9th 2009 3:04AM
also, +1 for Matt Bellamy becoming legendary
what really needs to happen for that, though, is for more people in the U.S. to actually know who Muse is
Saria the Cat @ Aug 9th 2009 3:20AM
Vcize +1
There's nothing wrong with having a really weird talent or a cool story to share with people. I doubt this kid's life revolves around Guitar Hero so much that it's detrimental and/or a big waste of time. People do a lot worse with their free time.
Markusdragon @ Aug 9th 2009 6:20AM
How dare you be arguing about crap on the internet. If you have that kind of time on your hands to mindlessly type rubbish into a keyboard, you should be writing a thesis, or a novel. Not that anyone should be allowed to read a novel, because if they've got time to waste reading fiction, they could be forcing cold hard facts into their brain.
Vote me down all you want, but it's a waste of a good pair of typing hands and quite a few useful words.
Imagine what you could accomplish if you learned to write shakespearian prose...
the_pop @ Aug 9th 2009 8:14AM
THIS GUY IS WASTING HIS LIFE BY SOLVING A RUBIX CUBE AND PLAYING GUITAR HERO AT THE SAME TIME AND IM NOT A HYPOCRITE IN ANYWAY BY SITTING HERE AND POSTING SHITTY COMMENTS ON JOYSTIQ.

That television has such potential, and it's being wasted on a Wii.
Breaks my heart.
