Sure, yes, we do want to play "Panama." And yes, fine, we would be all for jumping around to "Hot for Teacher." But as this thing stands (and as the trailer dictates above) we will absolutely be rocking out with some of the "biggest hits" from "one of the most legendary bands of all time" -- it's just going to be The Beatles instead.
First Guitar Hero: Van Halen trailer released, leaves us wanting for more

To be realistic, the band doesn't have that many hits, as big as they were, the few hits are really really famous though, you hear jump not as a rock song but almost as a jingle. EVERYONE KNOWS IT. The are also famous for leeching the fans, and some band members have leaved for that very reason of being EXTREMELY too commercial and even a couple don't even appear on the game!
It wouldn't surprise me if Eddie VH talked about releasing a Guitar Hero Van Halen Vol.2 in the future, since he probably doesn't even know how this works.
If this is surprising to you they, you are not a Van Halen fan and know nothing about them. I love the music, but hate the bastards.

Exactly, Van Halen is the worst fucking band to do a game like this around because they just don't have the catalog. They wouldn't have it if they included all the Haggar crap and they definitely don't have it without him. Van Halen is famous for a few great songs and EVH's tapping, that's it.

Awesome statement. Now that Semi-Charmed Life is coming to Rock Band also, I don't even need to rent Van Halen...
...But I will anyways.

This is the rumored source from a twitter account (justBrad23) -- "Just blasted out 6 of the old hits for Rock Band. Flying back to LA for Year Long Disaster pre production. Should sleep well tonight."
Who knows if/when they would be added (or if justBrad23 is even a member of 3EB) but I'd buy their track pack on RB.

It's retarded that they got his kid playing the bass in the earlier shit, way to fuck up any accuracy to the whole thing as well, nevermind the fact the graphics look kind of shitty.

I have no problem with only David vs. Sammy but Wolfgang instead of Michael Anthony? Come on! It was also interesting to see the shots at the start of the clip which showed a younger Eddie playing with his full grown son. Shouldn't Wolfgang be 3 or 4 years old at best in those shots during that era? 25 songs? Looks like I'll get this used from e-Bay six months from now.

Wolfgang Van halen is the bands Bass player now, so of course he's in the Game. Micheal Anthony is in a Band with Sammy Hager called Chickenfoot
And Wolfgang is only 18, he was born in 1991, so actually he wasn't even born, Sammy Hager joined Van Halen in 1986

What? Are you 50 or 60 and a woman? Rocking and Beatles dont belong in the same sentence. There is nothing rockish about the Beatles. Sure, for their era, they were IT. But who the hell drives around "rockin" to The Beatles"? Who jams Beatles' songs?
They are nothing but a big name, and while they helped influence music, their music/songs are awful.
So, Van Halen or The Beatles? Any self respecting man would say Van Halen. Period.

Tell you what Chuck, get a hot woman in your car (She has to like you and not be related to you), pop in some Van Halen and see what it gets you. Find another one (lol, I know) and then pop in some Beatles and see how she reacts.
You'll soon learn that the real world is a lot different than that 1980's candy land you think you're living in.

I think the Beatles have the most absolutely BORING music. It's a step from Brian Eno to me.

I'm really getting to the point where I don't even want Joystiq to report on music games of any kind from now on. Can we all please take a moment and remember that music taste is completely subjective? There's no such thing as good or bad music, just music that does or doesn't speak to you.
I get it, Joystiq. You and several other commenters turned your noses up at GH: Aerosmith and now GH: Van Halen. You're all very excited about Rock Band: Beatles. That's fine. But quite frankly, I love Aerosmith and Van Halen and couldn't care less about the Beatles. Is this an argument to persuade others to my point of view? No, of course not. I respect differing tastes. Please do the same.
