Chuck does have a point though. It's not like you exactly go around playing air guitar with The Beatles. GH: Van Halen for me; but it's a definite rent until
the price drops below $30.

And so does your spelling!

But in all seriousness, why do people have to have good graphics to declare a game to be good? Super Mario Bros. is obviously great, does that look good to you? Graphics have to be one of the least important aspects of a game. If the gameplay, story, etc. are good, wtf are you complaining about?

I might rent this just for the difficulty, but I'll definitely rent it if it's exportable to GH5.

Also, if you end up "rocking out" to The Beatles, Joystiq, you're probably doing something wrong.

Wouldn't that be great? But probably not, which is very unfortunate, only because every game company, not just Activision, wants money, and they wouldn't get any by allowing that and then having everyone rent it instead of buying it.

This will just be like a 60$ expansion pack of GH:WT. The beatles rock band was built from the ground up and actually had input from Paul, Ringo, Olivia, and Yoko. They put a lot of effort and $$$ into beatles rock band to make it different and authentic(example: they used the actual crowd noise from Shea Stadium). That is the only music game I will spend 60$ on. Plus, the beatles have way more (better) songs.

Plus Van Halen hasn't had an album since 1998, and the only songs are david lee roth ones. That on top of it just being a 60$ expanison will probably make it the lowest selling one. Aerosmith and Metallica have remained big. A band like bon jovi would be better for a game & sell more, since they are still popular and still selling platinum albums and making hit songs. Plus they aren't assholes. Unless it's a band like the beatles who are legendary and released a lot of songs during that time.

Van halen has some good songs but I don't think an entire game sould be based around them, especially without Sammy Hagar.

I like watching the trailer jump from '80s Eddie to '00s post-rehab clean cut Eddie. That right there might be the thing that makes this worth $60 for me but then again I'm weird.

sigh. if rock band had picked up VH, this would have been an epic win.

seems GH still hasn't improved it's character rendering. they're still puppets and i think this sad level is hurting the GH franchise, like it or not. sad anthony was replaced. afterall, he's on all the original recordings.

if you a rock fan in 1978, VH blew you away. Eddie's guitar was like nothing you'd ever heard before. Sure David Lee Roth is a prick, but VanHagar never lived up to the raw energy of the original lineup. I'd rather have fun with "Running with the Devil" or "Unchained" that the VH-1 friendly "Why Cant this be love"... i'm glad they left Hagar out of this.

i know that the better part of these games revolves around the music and the playing, but really, is activision developing games for dreamcast? the graphics are horrible and be it not that important, it shows again that activision is just selling the same garbage in a new package. also in my opinion, eddies guitar playing is far to advanced and unorthodox to translate well enough to a guitar hero type game.
on a side note, i will boycott this game being that the van halens are all huge assholes. the only two things you hear about them is their music or what kind of a huge dick they are being at the moment. especially aftet kicking out michael anthony.
ok. rant over.

You bunch of whiners! You only buy it if you want it. Don't say it's crap just because it doesn't fit YOUR music taste.

In my opinion it's sad they left Sammy Hagar's and David Cherone's songs. And it's also sad Mike was "replaced". But it's how things go. Certainly They couldn't use Hagar, Cherone and/or Mike and so they just use PR crap "it's Van Halen, not Van Hagar" like they said when they announced the game would be stripped down of everything not featuring Roth.

And yes, I like Van Halen and it really one of the most iconic rock bands of all times. They're still from the time when you needed to be a good musician to be successful.

Van Halen has the catalog to carry a game, but Activision is STILL making games that look like bad claymation, and play even worse. I agree with the people who prefer VH over the Beatles, but seriously... does a few good tracks warrant buying a sack of dog shit like GH? Eventually, HMX will get VH tracks and it will translate better, look better, feel better and be a fuckload lot more fun.

I've sad it before:

Activision could make a game called GH: all Jim's favorite songs ever (I'm Jim), and I still wouldnt fucking buy the piece of shit.
