Full Brutal Legend soundtrack released by EA Denmark
Fun fact: Heavy Metal was invented in Denmark in 1843 by Professor Garth Metallus in a horrible lab accident involving taut metal strings and a primitive electroacoustical transducer. The spirit of the rock music has innundated the nation ever since -- as such, we're not surprised that EA Denmark was the studio which recently revealed the 100-plus thrashing songs which will be included in Double Fine's upcoming epic rock story, Brütal Legend.
The list has since been pulled from EA Denmark's site, but not before Kotaku snagged a screencap of a translated version of the page. We've got the whole kit n' caboodle posted after the jump. Unless EA makes some drastic changes to the final setlist, they're going to have to put a Surgeon General's warning on the game, telling players they're about to subject themselves to a terrible case of face melting.

Now that is a soundtrack... I can't help but notice a complete lack of Iron Maiden though.
i.got.skiillz @ Aug 9th 2009 12:38PM
Haha no kidding, but their in Madden NFL 10???? Hmmmm
LaughingTarget @ Aug 9th 2009 12:37PM
Also an absence of Pantera and Helloween. The best bet is that there are too many bands to keep it from going over 100 songs and licensing issues.
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 9th 2009 12:38PM
I still don't understand why Eddie isn't even in the game...
Jrinswand @ Aug 9th 2009 12:51PM
Meh. I've heard so much Iron Maiden over the course of my life that it is hard for me to care about them anymore. I'm not saying that they're not a great band (because they totally are), it's just that they're one of those bands that become overplayed after a while, especially taking into account the fact that their sound has changed very little over the past 34 years.
Tank @ Aug 9th 2009 1:06PM
@Jrinswand
And understandable sentiment, but Eddie Riggs is named after the band!
Eddie after Eddie the Head, and Riggs is the last name of the guy that created him...leaving Iron Maiden out of the soundtrack seems unusual to say the least.
XGM @ Aug 9th 2009 1:11PM
Could have had some Metallica, Trivium, Norther, Soilwork... There is just too many bands, and licensing can be a pain in the a**. Despite that its still a pretty good list that touches every type out there.
Takahashi @ Aug 9th 2009 1:55PM
Trivium?! Really, they opened up for Iced Earth and the band was so bad the audience turned and sat down. They left the stage and everyone was applauding I'm happy that, that crap isn't included in the soundtrack.
Professor Lario @ Aug 9th 2009 4:21PM
I had the exact same thought. I am sure they could have fit some 'Fear of the Dark' in at an appropriate time. : )
Jimbo @ Aug 9th 2009 9:49PM
Norther? TRIVIUM?! Fuck you and everything you care about.
MowDownJoe @ Aug 9th 2009 12:35PM
Only fitting that The Metal gets in the game, after Activision tried to kill it and failed.
Tank @ Aug 9th 2009 12:47PM
Don't forget that they were sticken down to the ground.
Sly @ Aug 9th 2009 2:34PM
sticken down to the ground? with what, metal glue?
Access Granted @ Aug 9th 2009 12:38PM
Manowar! awesome!
BxGT @ Aug 9th 2009 12:38PM
No metallica, still a kick ass soundtrack tho.
peepoop @ Aug 9th 2009 3:52PM
Metallica sucks, that's why.
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 9th 2009 3:59PM
That should be a bannable comment. You're saying the kings of metal sucks, but they're the kings so they cannot suck. Some paradox you got going there.
linebeginstoblur @ Aug 9th 2009 5:47PM
@tmacairjordan87
I totally agree with you. We should ban people who have different opinions than our own. Good job there.
EnragedMailman @ Aug 10th 2009 2:37AM
Ahh, but when you say Metallica sucks, the argument becomes invalid.
fco. @ Aug 10th 2009 9:44AM
It wouldn't surprise me if they had some exclusivity thing going with Activition. Remember that their songs were some of the only ones that couldn't be activated on Rock Band 2.
peepoop @ Aug 10th 2009 3:02PM
Metallica are the kings of a lazy over the edge talentless group who doesn't write their music anymore. King of metal? Give me a break.
Jerk Face @ Aug 9th 2009 12:39PM
Fuck yes.
Nick @ Aug 9th 2009 12:42PM
"Megadeath"...
Please fix that.
Also, I wish the soundtrack for Guitar Hero or Rock Band were this damn awesome. I may have to end up getting this game just to support this kind of stuff in the future...
Woz @ Aug 9th 2009 12:45PM
I agree, but GH would make this a stand alone game instead of DLC.
Woz @ Aug 9th 2009 12:44PM
Nice selection indeed. This would make fantastic DLC for Rock Band. I can wish.
Shadowbender ( Sweatshop Supporter In Hiding) @ Aug 9th 2009 12:44PM
Anyone seen the Tenacious D movie? Watch it, soooo funny.
Leroy_Octopus @ Aug 9th 2009 12:53PM
I have the DVD. It kicks ass! I think it might be wierd in game to hear Jack Black talking while Jack Black sings in the background though.
Shadowbender ( Sweatshop Supporter In Hiding) @ Aug 9th 2009 1:00PM
Hahaha, I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it. Did you see the deleted scene with the Army Store?
Leroy_Octopus @ Aug 9th 2009 1:14PM
Yeah, I got the soundtrack before I saw the movie, and I was like where the fuck is The Government song? Glad it's on the DVD.
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 9th 2009 1:17PM
Am I the witness of true love in the making?
Sly @ Aug 9th 2009 1:18PM
classico is my favorite song on the soundtrack. that song is amazing.

Carcass, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir & Emperor.. couple more too.. all old songs too.. maybe we'll get to see these in Rock Band now, after all, we managed to get the metal pack not long ago
capt_carl @ Aug 9th 2009 12:46PM
That is a BITCHIN' soundtrack.
MystileArmor [Wiizer Sweatshop Bathwater and Sam Raimi Specialist] @ Aug 9th 2009 12:49PM
"That is a NUTSHIT soundtrack."
Fixed it for you, jive turkey.
Jrinswand @ Aug 9th 2009 12:46PM
Candlemass - Witches
Carcass - No Love Lost
Emperor - Thus Spake The Nightspirit
Enslaved - Frost
Enslaved - Loke
King Diamond - Cremation
King Diamond - Welcome Home
Skeletonwitch - Soul Thrashing Black Sorcery
Fucking awesome. Surprisingly, those are some really good choices. The rest... well, they get points for trying.
I've gotta say, it is nice to see some of the less popular genres of metal represented. The game could benefit from more black, doom and death metal though.
PR0F3TA @ Aug 9th 2009 1:33PM
they get "points" for trying? get off your high horse numbnuts... one thing i despise in all metal fans is that they think that their metal bands are better then everyone else's metal bands. The list is nothing less then awesome for every metal fan no matter what bands you give "points" for trying
Jrinswand @ Aug 9th 2009 1:38PM
No. 'Fraid not. I'm pretty sure that I'm allowed to have an opinion. For example: In my opinion, you are a stupid motherfucker. See how that works?
Nadril @ Aug 9th 2009 6:56PM
Yeah, because I want to listen to a doom or drone song while running around chopping heads off, damn. Funny thing is the bands you listed are pretty shitty BM/Doom, you need to listen to better music if you want to be elitist.
(Try some Sigh, Sleep, YOB, Boris for starters).
On the topic of this list, fucking awesome. Had a smile on my face that a Dethklok song got put in there, hehe.
Jrinswand @ Aug 9th 2009 10:18PM
@Nadril - A lot of doom can be really badass. For instance, older Candlemass and Reverend Bizarre are some of the best metal out there. And I never said that drone would be a good idea. That would be a terrible idea.
Also, I wasn't being elitist. I was just listing the bands from the tracklist that I like. It is pretty hard not to like Enslaved or King Diamond. And for your information, I love Sigh, Sleep and Boris (especially Boris).
Nap @ Aug 9th 2009 12:47PM
Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck!!!! I never knew it was originally by Prong though, I love the Dry Kill Logic version so I'm sure I'll love this one even more
SO MUCH WIN HERE
Shadowbender ( Sweatshop Supporter In Hiding) @ Aug 9th 2009 12:48PM
Oh, and I wish they had Nine Inch Nails in there, but I guess that's more alternative.
Michael K. @ Aug 9th 2009 3:15PM
marilyn manson already ruins this soundtrack enough without nin's help
Alex McKee @ Aug 9th 2009 3:54PM
Dear Michael K.
RE: your comment
Would you kindly GTFO my internets?
I'm not a Manson fan, but NIN is an incredible band. Maye not right for this game, but honestly.
Thanks for your time,
Alex McKee
peepoop @ Aug 9th 2009 3:54PM
NiN is a shit group. No one cares.
Shadowbender ( Sweatshop Supporter In Hiding) @ Aug 9th 2009 6:05PM
NIN is amazing. Anyone who says differently is the devil.
Ghidora @ Aug 9th 2009 12:57PM
LoL im from Denmark... dident know this -_-
The Baron @ Aug 9th 2009 1:03PM
Cool soundtrack. Finally, Megadeth's Tornado of Souls is getting the play it deserves. They NEED that on GH/RB for the solo.
Can't argue with Ozzy, Sabbath, Judas Priest, Racer X, Scorpions or Testament either.
And I happened to be listening to Diamond Head - Am I Evil as I read the list.. class song.
Sly @ Aug 9th 2009 1:21PM
when i saw racer x, i screamed WIN!
