Activision CEO made nearly $15 million last year

Say what you will about Activision CEO Robert Kotick -- and from what we've seen in previous posts, you will -- the guy knows how to make money. Not just for Activision as a whole (which raked in close to $1 billion in Q2 this year), but for himself as well -- according to a recent Forbes profile on the controversial CEO, Kotick made $14,950,102 in 2008.

Kotick caught some flack last week for joking about wanting to increase the price of Activision's releases. Now, it seems we know why -- he's only making $15 million a year. He desperately needs that extra scratch to upgrade his Azimut 62E Luxury Yacht to an Azimut 116 Luxury Yacht. Those meanies at the Santa Monica Yachting Club just won't stop picking on his puny seafaring vessel.

I'm definitely not buying that game at launch, will buy it when its in the bargain bin, which probably will take forever. Modern Warfare 1 for the PC at stores is still $25 I believe.

only in america is a $15 million salary considered "not that much"

you should look at what CEOs in other parts of the world are making

he is right though. for a CEO of a major company, he does have a pretty low salary.

Actually this is bullshit. His salary alone is 15 million. That doesn't even account for the fact that he gets all sorts of benefits, stock options, and other accoutrements that go far beyond his 15 million dollar salary. Trust me, he's still a greedy fucking whorebag. And if I was in his position, I probably would be too.

I kinda get his point. Because all of this financial trouble we've been hearing salaries from the financial sector that dwarf Kotick by a large margin.

All we've been hearing is billions, but let's keep Kotick in perspective as a media exec. I wonder about the salaries of the heads of movie studios, etc.

I wish Activision could be boycotted without taking Infinity Ward with them. I can't wait for MW2.. but Activision are a bunch of greedy, monopolizing pricks!!!! This guy just looks like an asshole. Making money off the talents of others. Typical corporate practices. Activsion was nothing before GH and COD. They got lucky. What did they have before that... Spiderman?

Pitfall

Infinity Ward has a reputation for quality titles. If Activision went down IW would immediately get picked up by someone else. I doubt there would even be a downturn.
