2nd Fallout 3 DLC pack at retail Aug. 25; GOTY edition listed for Oct. 13

Following May's Anchorage and The Pitt combo-pack, Bethesda has confirmed with Joystiq that the second Fallout 3 DLC retail pack featuring Broken Steel and Point Lookout will hit store shelves on August 25 for $20 on both Xbox 360 and PC. You'll need Mothership Zeta – the fifth and "final" piece of Fallout 3 DLC – to round out your DLC collection. It's currently available for $10.

If you're late to the Fallout 3 bus, you may want to consider holding off until October when you can pick up the previously announced Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition which bundles the game with all five DLC packs. It's currently listed for $59.99 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 releases, and $49.99 for PC with an October 13th release date on both Amazon and GameStop. Unfortunately, Bethesda's not ready to talk about it until that last DLC pack is out the door so consider those prices and that date boring 'ol retailer placeholders.

I'm glad there were so many games to keep me occupied. That GOTY edition will make a good christmas present this year.

Last year I bought Oblivion GOY and had lots of great fun, this year will be the same I will hold off till the Fallout GOY arrives :)

Nothing says "I celebrate Jesus" better than purging a post-apocolyptic wasteland of its mutant scourge. "Fallout" GOTY edition is totally going on this grown man's X-mas list! (seriously)

A good Christmas gift indeed. I still need to play OBlivion though. I picked up the GOTY edition for $10.

I meant that 50 for five dlc packs included meant the last 10 was for the basic game.

I thought he meant the game itself is $10. The way I see it, each DLC costs $10 x 5 DLCs = $50 for all DLCs. If GOTY is $60, then the game itself is $10 ($60 - $50 for DLCs = $10 for game itself). I don't know if that's what he meant, but that's how I look at it. If it is $60, I will get GOTY for sure. Lots of my friends have it, still play it, and love it.

I'm in the Windows 7 beta and trust me, it's Vista without all the unnecessary crap and technical problems. I'm actually using it right now!

I love when people try to make it sound like they are elite because they have the Windows 7 beta version. Pretty much anyone who wanted it got it.

So if you haven't bought any DLC yet.
You should sell your copy of Fallout 3 once finish and buy the GOTY edition when it comes out.

How will trophies/achievements work? Will the have two sets? Anyone got Elder Scrolls IV and Elder Scrolls IV GOTY?

you can get double achievements if you play it on 360 and PC however

The only duplicated Achievement set that I know is Lost Planet and Lost Planet Colonies.

The Colonies version has a carp list focused on multiplayer =P

Well when the GOTY edition releases I'll ditch my old version and get the GOTY. I'll keep the save file though.

basically the GOTY edition just has codes built-in to download all the dlc...

i dont think that's true, the oblivion GOTY edition just installed the shivering isles, didnt download them

Plus I hope Bethesda's working on the whole uncanny valley issue. Talking to NPC's creeps me out in Fallout 3/Oblivion.

I've been holding off getting Fallout just on the hope they'd finally announce a new Elder Scrolls. I'm more of a swords & sorcery man myself.

I just bought Fallout 3 for the ps3 for $25. I don't care that I'll probably have to pay more for the dlc vs if I had waited and bought the goty edition - this game is amazing.

I'm WAAAAY late to the Fallout 3 bus so I'm gonna state the obvious when I say, "This is an awesome deal!" +5 points

I can't wait to get the GOTY edition. I played my BF's copy for a bit until I reached level 20/finished the main quest. Now I'm tortured every time I boot up my 360 and see Fallout 3 ads and it sitting in my game collection. October can't get here fast enough...

damn...still no word on the release date for Broken Steel ps3 DLC.

Not that I care, I'm going to try and wait for the GOTY edition. But talk about major failure to meet the previously announced June deadline for Operation Anchorage.

Safe to say if they can't cram all the DLC love on the PS3 GOTY edition, there's something ghouly rotten in Megaton. I'm willing to bet *that* was the deal for exclusivity.

I've already put 40 hours into this game off a borrowed copy, might as well pick up the GOTY for all the expansions.

Slightly off topic, I borrowed Mass Effect from a friend a while ago and got a good ways into it, if I get it off Games on Demand, will I be able to continue with my saved data? Probably a stupid question.

when I tried to play my Burnout Paradise save file from a rented copy with a downloaded version of the game it wouldn't recognize it. I hear Warhawk is the same way. I know these are both disc versions but beware

Yep! I waited for the GOTY edition because the DLC looked to be delayed due to money from Microsoft from the beginning. Only going to be a month between the DLC dropping for the PS3 and the GOTY edition.

I wonder how this whole deal effects the profits that Bethesda could have made overall, not just on the PS3.

Gametrailers said it was good...just doesn't have the breadth of exploration that the main game or Point Lookout have.

Don't know if we'll ever be able to take the new user ratings too seriously. I was moreso going off the lukewarm metacritic and metacritic user ratings.

So many games coming out this fall, it seems silly to buy one that's so old, but I've been waiting for the GotY version of this, I'll have to get it at some point, I guess. Too bad it's not out now, I've gone back to old games for trophies at this point, waiting for the fall glut.

I beat it and sold it the moment I heard of the GotY edition. I got 45 out of it on craiglist when i did and only paid like 48 for it when circuit city was going out of business.

Can't wait for the GotY edition since i haven't played any of the DLC yet and love the game.

Any word of whether there will be a DLC compilation for the PC like the Knights of the Nine set did for Oblivion? I got FO3 the say it came out and 55 hours in, I'm still picking thru the terrain and a long way away from finishing the story. I don't want to drop another $50 for the GOTY version if I could get the DLC for $20-$30.

Can't wait for GOTY edition. I waited for elder scrolls, got the GOTY edition cheap and I knew the wait would be worth it for fallout 3.
