Seriously people. Fuck a live action Halo movie. No one I know wants it. Give us a well done CG Halo movie with the original voice actors.

Pfft. They'd probably end up making the CG film in 3D and the glasses will grossly resemble Chief's helmet as some sort of cheap marketing ploy.

Then you'll be wishing for the live action version.

There are a hell of a lot of people who want a live action Halo movie. Neil Blomkamp made a very compelling series of shorts on a limited budget. Combined with Peter Jackson we could have an amazing film that could completely break the shackles of bad game movies being made.

"CG Halo movie with the original voice actors"
I got the feeling when MGS4 came out that no one wanted to watch a 90 minute cut-scene.

Halo should not be made, they need to just leave games alone, the last movie game that was good was wolverine.

Perfectly stated! Halo needs something along the lines of Advent Children quality CG film. A live action halo would fuck our beloved franchise all up!!

Wasn't the halo movie originally scheduled to come out in 2012?

Hm, I guess we all know the real reason why the world will end in 2012 then.

I donno, from the original teaser I saw it looked way too anime-y kinda seems like they might trash the storyline.

@yamagushi: I think we've seen too little to pass a judgment on that yet. Also, c'mon dude, it's not like the storyline is that sophisticated to begin with. I'm going to be watching this to see stuff blow up and, hopefully, see the MC jump off the moon and land an elbow drop on a guy on the surface of the earth, or something equally over the top. with that in mind, I feel like anime could be a pretty good medium for Halo.

:( Once it finally does come out I bet it is not goina be worth it. Movie based on video games are usually bad. But, who knows maybe it will be amazing. It will probably be better than the Gears movie though. lol

Depending on who you ask, there are exceptions to the bad video-game movie rule.

Good: The Resident Evil Series, Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider Series, Final Fantasy VII, Silent Hill (I thought it was decent,

Bad: Doom, Super Mario Bros., Hitman, Max Payne, Postal, Bloodrayne, Street Fighter, Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Double Dragon, Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Dead or Alive.

Just my opinion.

I would like for you to support your claim. How exactly is MS "destroying" Halo? The products that have been released evolving said gaming universe are quality. So what if they are doing a lot with it, as long as it's quality than keep it coming.

From the books, games, action figures etc., I have (as a Halo fan) been pleased. When they start releasing product that is crappy and against Halo cannon, then you should say that.

The problem is that the original script carried the title "Halo Forever." Also, it was co-written by John Romero.

Doomed from the start.

What the hell are you talking about? Alex Garland wrote the original (and only approved) script. D.B. Weiss and Josh Olson revised it later on after the script was sold to Universal.

So tired of the Halo movie updates already. If it comes out, it comes out. It's not like it'll really do Halo justice anyway. The games tell the story fine.

yesterday the director of Distrcit 9 was on the Kevin and Bean morning show on KROQ in LA and said that peter jackson approached him to deirect the Halo movie and implied that he's on board with it then he realized that maybe he shouldnt be talking about it and quickly changed subjects. You might be able to hear the interview on the KROQ website for those of you who are interested

Personally, I don't think Halo would translate to a movie very well. As a game it works because the game play works - it's fun to shoot the bad guys, but, if you think about it, the story itself is kind of generic (invading aliens, face-huggers, explosions). Watching the story without partaking in the fun game play would wear thin fast, methinks.
