What happened to the controller mod story?! Guess what? Now I'VE lost a lot of respect for this site. Way to bravely report the news.

Joystiq posted a story about a mod to the 360 controller that was now available. Gives you some advantages while playing. There was a backlash from crying babies who think gaming news sites should suppress that kind of information--and Joystiq capitulated and removed the story.

I'm British, live in Wales. I thought it would be included in this update as the football season starts on Saturday.

Games on demand, cool. I'm gonna pick me up Prey for....HOLY SNAPPING ARSEHOLES, $40! The pricing on the demand games is crazy. Oh well, not like I have to buy them. I just hope there aren't too many sales on the overpriced stuff or else the inflated prices might be the norm.

That game is cool but I would have said $10, 15 tops.

So I guess none of the avatar awards are retroactive, huh?
I have a ton of achievements but nothing shows up. Any idea if they'll give us awards for older games, or is there anywhere I can see what games are going to support these awards?

@The Dark Wayne

welcome to the dark side. theres gonn be tons of ppl that pretend to be shocked at avatar store prices and still buy stuff.

@ WiredKnight

theres no financial incentive for devs to add awards for games ppl already own. Splosion man is the 1st and only game to announce new awards so far.

The same was true for trophies but a bunch still did it. I know there's a little more work involved, since they have to actually model the items, but it'd be nice to get something for all the games I've already played.

trophies are very different: awards are actually useful beyond boosting an e-peen point total.

Well wired, Shane Kim has always said that the NXE will allow for quicker smaller and more frequent updates than the old one, so maybe they will retroactively award avatar awards the same way trophies are continually added
@RedSon im not pretending, the prices really are shocking, but I am a ridiculous star wars fan who has spent way more than 5 bucks on silly little things, but 400 points for a lightsaber when the suit is 400 is crazy, and unless they add a Batsuit or Jango fett armor this'll be the last thing i buy.

@Redson

I'm going to assume that was a joke.

Right, because the Avatars are so useful themselves.

@dark wayne

the light saber demands premium pricing because really, whats a jedi or sith without a light saber: premium demand earns premium pricing. gamesOndemand pricing is pretty bad tho, i might buy mass effect for $20. thats pretty reasonable.

Yawn... I'd also just like to add, that Microsoft had already set Kodu at Five Stars. Its a sales tactic. Gather a bunch of people with money to spend, but not know what to spend it on, knowing they want to use it for something, and suggest a game that magically was designed to compete with Sony PlayStation and Media Molocule's 'LittleBigPlanet.' Suddenly, everyones buying it becaue "Its been rated as a five star game!" My buddy downloaded the game, we looked over it and its gay. Just thought you ought to know. If I were you, I'd save the points up for something worth buying rather than just blowing your money on something that Microsoft wants you to. I'm still a liar??? This video posted on Joystiq, was the beta release of this update, yet mysteriously it already has five stars. It take longer and to build your reputation up on Xbox LIVE than it did for this game to get five stars. Save up your money for Shadow Complex. These rating starts are decieving and a business trick to get you to buy the game so they can attempt to compete with Sony's game to try and convince gamers the 360 can do anything the PlayStation 3 can. The game is like Dolly Partton's boobs. Its fake and a gimmick. Cheap immitation. Friggin liars with no morals. Business is business and its ok to lie to everyone. Because its business. Wrong. Gamers ought to be treated as valued comsumers, not mindless sheep!

Just updated my xbox. Price of Games on Demand in Canada is laughable. $39 for lego starwars? $39 Bioshock? $39 Oblivion? Come on, give us a break! I can buy all of these games new or used easily for under $20 each or less at EB Games or Gamestop, Walmart etc. Don't see how this is going to be successfull.

Prices need to be $9.99 if that as you can't trade-in the game because its digital. Learn a lesson from the iPhone App Store, sell for less and you will sell millions of copies. Funny that Peggle on my iphone was $2.99 CAD but its $15 on my xbox. Better experience on the iPhone too.

Wake up Microsoft!
