"Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience."

Note the "this" in there. Other gaming consoles may end up with a Netflix client, but it won't be "this" experience. Strikes me as included so that later, when other gaming consoles do get Netflix, then can say, "Oh, well sure, but the other consoles don't have the party feature" or some other option only on the 360.

Sony's Home team has been holding back on us with our LCD TV and Theatre System for PlayStation Home. Home is also supposed to have a streaming feature that allows you to be able to play MP3s and videos stored on your hdd and be able to watch them with your friends. There are E3 2007 videos that talk about it but 2 years later? Where's it at. I hope that's one of the things Sony announces at Cologne.

And everyone outside the US goes... meh.
Not like we'd ever get it anyway. Sony, biggest studio/distributor on the planet, can't even sort out the licencing for putting its OWN PSN movie store outside the US.

Alexander, you should be ashamed. Gossip Girl? I'm surprised your boyfriend lets you watch such things.

Odd. You'd think netflix would be eager to expand to other platforms, given the success of the 360's model. Either Microsoft moneyhatted (a possibility), or Nintendo did something to severely put off netflix (also a possibility)

This seems to be very interesting.
This also shows great and new ideas.

Is it still considered exclusive when I rent a movie from Netflix online, put the actual DVD in my PS3 and then watch it?

I have a ton of DVDs and when the next gen format war broke out with HD DVD vs BluRay, I groaned. When the dust settled and BluRay one, I did not care. I don't feel the need to own movies anymore except for the occassional gotta haves like Watchmen and when Star Trek comes out in November otherwise I Netflix movies now either DVDs or Instant streaming. I figured out that all I really want is the ability to watch any movie whenever I want and I do not want to shell out $$$ for BluRay replacements when streaming will be the way of the future either through online rentals or Instant Streaming. I can see in the near future where there is a window of Online Rental exclusivity then Pay Cable viewing to eventual Instant Streaming.
I am ready for it.

I was one of the few PS3 owners at work and I had confidence in Blu-Ray winning the format war. Everyone had XBOX 360s and a ton of them had bought an HD-DVD player add on and bought tons of movies. When Warner Bros. went Blu-Ray and BD won the war the following day they were all bitching, crying and moaning to each other. Now they are bitter and refuse to buy a PS3 or other Blu-Ray player and like you have subscribed to Netflix. LOL

Personally I'm a fan of special features and director/producer/writer actor commentaries so I buy Blu-Ray film discs.
