Greed Corp bringing environmental turn-based strategy to PSN
31
We possess equal amounts of affinity for hexagonal turn-based strategy games and mother nature -- naturally, W!Games' upcoming PSN strategy title Greed Corp really resonated with our green-tinted hearts. The trailer above gives a pretty good depiction of what the game's about -- four corporations are struggling to take control of a dying planet, while trying to balance out their own resource consumption and environmental preservation. Fail to do so, and you'll either end up too weak, or plummet to certain death.
It's a neat concept for a game, incorporating elements from Halo Wars, Risk and ... Don't Break the Ice. We'll be getting our hands on this bold mixture when the game lands on the PSN near the end of September.

Glad to see a fellow SC member on here. And IDK who thought of the Captain Planet name first... hey other CP, are you the same CP that messaged me a few weeks ago? Anyways, maybe I'll consider changing my name to something else, but Captain__Planet will stay in, and I don't think I'd like to be known as the bizarro CP. Also, I'm not an admirer of the other CP... I've had the PSN I have well before I knew of Joystiq.

It's okay, everyone know who the real CP is, but hey if it helps you get out of bed everyday, by all means, call yourself CP.

The most interesting part is that they dont force the message down your throat. They are very, very subtle about it.
If theres anything I learned from my time with FFVII (AKA my dark age) its that if we were truly ruining the planet, it would use its own defenses to kill the entire human race itself.
Also, Greed Corp. should be the name of the newly established league of Ecovillians

Yes, subtle, subtle like a boot to the face.
Greed Corp, how about calling it "Profits = DEVIL" or "Crush Whale Skulls to make Weapons Part 2" or better yet "The only good environment is a exploited dead one: THE GAME!!!"
Actually I would buy the last two.

Isn't that the same basic plot to The Happening (the whole planet fighting back thing), as well?

This actually looks like the kind of game I'd enjoy playing--I love turn based strategy games. But, I am really starting to get annoyed when environmentalist politics get inserted into one of the things I use for entertainment/enjoyment. Sure, I don't have to buy it, that's always my option, but already this is another game (Trash Panic was the first I've seen) with an environmental message that I'm interested in because of the look of the game itself. I have enough of politics rammed down my throat constantly by the media, stuff all over the internet, every-day conversations with my colleagues at work, adds on the radio, etc. I don't need a video game preaching at me that humans are evil consumers with no regard for the planet, animals, and each-other, and we'll all destroy ourselves if we don't gather together, hold hands, and drive put-put cars. It's just annoying to see this crap invade my fun-time.

"wake me up?" You're another stooge that blindly believes the media, apparently. Do some of your own research on "global warming" and try to think for yourself before believing everything the media tells you. Yes, there's a certain degree to which we must be mindful of our environment, but the stuff that's purported these days is purely political and not at all based on fact. I know, it takes effort to read up on things and become educated, but make an effort.
