Sony never sends me an invitation to any of their betas, despite me being a long time member of their forums, and a habitual purchaser of every little downloadable game that comes out on the PSN. Their selection process is basically random, and it really is counterproductive (you'd think they'd want beta testers that actually know how to report bugs...but nay)
Then again, the LBP beta killed my enthusiasm for the game, so maybe it's best that I don't participate in the MAG beta.

I think it's G.A.P members who always get the betas. I've been a "GAPer" since the PS2 era so I think that's why I got the MAG beta invite.

Incorrect. Zipper made the PS2 SOCOM games. Confrontation was made by Slant Six.

Good eye Andrew. Please don't confuse Zipper with /6. /6 launched SOCOM on the PS3 as a total disaster and it has required _a lot_ of patching. I think it may be playable by now...I bought it back when it was broken for $50 just for the bluetooth headset.

it has been given to slant six as they have made the last 2 socom games and are releasing the next socom game. ( socom psp, socom ps3, socom psp 2 this year )
IMO sony sorta let the franchise go as they controlled the rights of the series and told slant six to step in...

I can't stand playing call of duty games online. It's got a pretty brutal learning curve and I just don't enjoy the run and gun style of it at all. I have beaten the first modern warfare and world at war campaign modes but can't play the online more than a few times before turning it off indefinently. It's just not my style of online competitive shooter. It doesn't mean it's bad or anything it's just not my style of game. I prefer playing battlefield, killzone, warhawk, crash commando, metal gear online, socom & resistance 2 more than call of duty. I think my favorite online experience in a long time was the Horde mode on Gears 2. THAT was pretty awesome stuff right there. I don't play much competitive multiplayer and prefer cooperative stuff or a mix of the two like capture the flag ... thats why I liked playing killzone 2 so much because the game types were so varied and it encouraged teamwork. That aspect alone makes me optimistic towards MAG. I hope they pull it off because I'm pretty excited about it. Again, not saying call of duty sucks or the multiplayer is bad but it's just not my style. I love the campaign mode on COD but not the multiplayer.
