A recent Microsoft job listing could be hinting at the future expansion of Xbox Live. Specifically, the listing is for an Xbox Live Community Director in the Entertainment and Devices Division, whose job would entail managing the "Live community strategy and execution across a range of properties, from Xbox Live to Windows Mobile." The listing elaborates further, mentioning a "next-generation, Live-enabled casual and social gaming platform across the Web, the console, mobile and beyond." The community director is also expected to help craft a "strategy for integration with community and social efforts," across platforms like Windows Live and Facebook. The listing even mentions MSN Games.
The new position ties in very well with recent remarks from corporate VP Shane Kim, who said that Live "will extend to other platforms ... no question about it." What remains to be seen is just how far such an extension would go. After all, Kim's statement could simply be speaking to the upcoming Twitter and Facebook applications for Xbox 360. It's also important to remember that Microsoft has been touting the arrival of Live on other platforms for a long time and, barring a demo of XNA running on Zune during GDC '08, we haven't heard anything substantial about platform integration since Live Anywhere was announced ... in 2006.

Oh, please let us finally play with PC users. I have lots of PC gamer friends that have the same games as me but we can never play together. :(

I dont understand why they havent done that yet either. I mean hell the 360 is damn near a PC anyways. My guess is if they did that it would even further eat into XBL Gold memberships, as more and more people will start to get games on Windows since its free to play online. If I would have heard about Gears 2 or Fable 2 coming to PC this year I wouldnt have gotten my 360...would have just gotten them on PC. And with interoperability that means more games such as Gears 2 will be on BOTH PC & 360 most likely at launch. PC gamers will start to go back to their PCs more for FPS'

@Chris: I really think it's the lack of profitability that is keeping MS from making this possible. But even so, a lot of casual gamers would rather buy a 360 than buy or try to build a gaming PC because they think it's cheaper/easier (whether that's true or not). So I don't think XBL subscription numbers would suffer too much in that regard. It really is just silly and a disservice to both communities and individual consumers that there has been no full integration yet.

I wonder what beyond means?
If I was able to access live on a zune, I would definitely get the Zune HD.

@Bubba: If it makes you feel any better, some people have theories about lolcat/lolspeak anthropomorphism that people unconsciously use lolcats as a way of portraying people different from us by using language that say, an immigrant would use. This has happened before with many cartoon animals from our childhood, just look at how Speedy Gonzalez and Foghorn Leghorn (that big chicken guy) talk. We find these characters funny because of the stereotypes painted onto them, even though we don't think about it. It's arguable that it's the same for lolcats. So, maybe you are just one step ahead by automatically reading the lolspeak as stereotyped blackface speech. Maybe that's kind of what lolspeak represents anyway.

@Bubba: Yeah I think it's pretty interesting but I still am a huge fan of lolcats since I am a cat-lover and they are hilarious. Plus I think they represent our attitudes toward our pets more than attitudes about people who talk funneh.

So the conclusion of all these post is? (I am just assuming that they are all related to the topic.)
Live anywhere will lead to the proliferation of racisim.
Off Topic: I heart LOLCats.
