Rumorang: PS3 Slim to be revealed at Gamescom

They didn't need to redesign the console. Why didn't they just redesign the controller and drop it $100? I hate the PS controller.

A friend of mine was going to get a 360 for Rock Band Beatles, but if the price drop is significant in the UK i might just have to reccomend a PS3. Especially because he loves movies, and there's no Netflix in the UK.

Any idea about the rumored update that will allow non BC PS3s to play PS2 games?

I bought my PS3 not realizing that they made non BC PS3 and did not even try and PS2 game (didnt know I would even want to play anyone until I saw video of God of War).

My guess is that they're going to debut this thing at the current PS3 pricing while dropping the price of the Phat PS3 models by $100. Then around Black Friday they'll drop the Slim by about $100 again.

Are they also predicting Monster Hunter for the PS3?

i think only one word fits to describe that... FUGLY. And yes i know they said it was a fake, but it doesn't make it less FUGLY.

Shouldn't PS3 Slim news be in the non-Playstation news threads? I don't think people who already own a PS3 care that it's cheaper now...

Size does matter. Sony is able to make twice as many components with the slim than the big version for the same price. I pretty sure my imformation is correct. The slim will probably replace all current big models by the end of the year. I hope the ps3 wipes the floor with the 360 cause Microsoft manages to keep their good reputation despite the huge failure rate of the 360, this really is a problem. Hopefully Sony will release it with a 120GB hdd at least and ps2 b/c at about $300-$350, I think people would buy it at $350 cause if it has all the same features plus ps2 b/c and a bigger HDD they will almost definitely eat it up. I am not a fanboy and use to have a 360 until it kicked the bucket and wasn't paying $100+ to ship it to microsoft to fix it and have it break down again. If i'm not mistaken with my information Ps3 outsells 360 in most other countries besides here in the US. This is what i've read and heard anyway. I might get a slim to either replace my current model or to go side by side and possibly a psp go so I have a handheld with Mp3 player capabilities. Sony and Nintendo rule and the 360 is just another machine to steal their thunder IMHO. Microsoft stick to windows and the Zune Player.
