Trophy hunters now have a valuable new resource to use in their quest to increase their PS3 XP. The Trophies functionality of the official US PlayStation site will be expanded this week to include features currently available on the European site. The most significant addition is a live-updated Portable ID which allows gamers to proudly display their PlayStation level and number of Trophies. The compact image can be embedded on almost any website and will be updated automatically with data from the PSN. Those that have been manually adding Trophy data to third-party websites can now take it easy.
Additionally, players will now be able to compare Trophies with other PSN IDs on PlayStation.com. Players will be able to track progress to the next level against friends, making Trophy-hunting more of a competitive game. And finally, new sorting features will make browsing a Trophy list much easier than before, making it even more clear what players must do to get the always-elusive Platinum Trophy.
psh, that's why you lie about your age. you have to be over 18 for a master account, but i've made like 3 (using 2 at the moment - 1 for call of duty and 1 for every other game), and i'm only 14.
Is that so Mcknifington, or should I say *checks friend list* sniperchameleon or should I say, slycooper_rocker. The web of lies you have spun is becoming very untangled.
I have one from inFamous too, nothing in that game was particularly hard. Getting all the stunts was the worst, simply because they just wouldn't register a lot of the time.
I've been meaning to go back to Uncharted as well, but generally I don't pay too much attention to the trophies..
yeah, i don't have the patience either. i got to like 70-something percent in infamous, then i stopped playing and went back to COD. and archon, that's amazing! i've never seen a rock band 2 platty before.
That's great news i'm proud where i am in level and continue to keep going i am a Trophy Bore after all. but i draw the line at places but i'm glad were getting changes like the UK playstation website !
Currently Sitting at Level 13 with 49% with 1086 trophies
I've tried so hard to care about trophies but it's just not the same as achievements. They're gonna have to implement some trophy reward system or each game's gonna have to have a LOT of free Home shit for me to start caring.
I know but it's just not the same feeling. Feels good hearing that world famous sound right before a cheevo shows up. I also like the point system a lot more than the bronze/silver/gold. Some games have a million bronze, then only a handful of silver and a couple gold. That'd be like having 45 10-point achievements then having the rest be 100s.
Really, please go away. Why the fuck are you commenting in a post about trophies if your just gonna act like an idiot and be a fanboy? achievements and trophies are 99% the same. If a game has 40 trophies, its gonna have 40 achievements 100% of the time. The only difference is you get a platinum for getting all the trophies in a game. Thats it. Stop being a trolling fanboy and stay out of posts you shouldn't be in.
How am I being a fanboy? I'm saying achievements and trophies are nearly the same. I'm not saying 'I like PS3 so I say achievements suck weeny'. You blatantly said you liked achievements better for stupid (IMO) reasons, like the sound and point system. Overall, it's like comparing apples to apples, but your trying to compare apples to a piece of crap.
Achievements and Trophies are the same damn thing... but you prefer on over the other because of the noise it makes?
Trophies do have rewards, for Home. Much like Achievements will have them for your avatar.
so whats the difference again?... oh thats right a point system and a notification sound. 2 things Trophies have also, but in their own diff way.... idiot
I'm only at level 6 on the trophy thing, but I haven't seen this point system you're talking about. That's the deal breaker for me and a lot of people, and one of a few good reasons why PS3's losing the multiplatform battle. When I'm buying a game that's equal on two systems, I need to make a choice and PS3's inferior trophy system is usually the reason why I almost always go 360.
"I need to make a choice and PS3's inferior trophy system is usually the reason why I almost always go 360"
srsly?
They are essentially the same exact thing. I just think the only thing better about trophies (small thing here) is that it does show more of a true skill when you have the medal system versus simply a points tally. It's easier to identify if you have done harder tasks based on a medal versus an number value.
I don't really care anyway and never have cared about trophy or achievement whoring. But, if a little noise and an aggregate total makes your receptors fire then by all means go on ahead and get the multiplatforms on the 360. However, it's a little idiotic to say one if inferior over the other when for all intents and purposes they function in the exact same capacity.
But it's not the same to me and many others. The bronze/silver/gold system just doesn't impress me at all. It's so bad that even when there's exclusive DLC for a ps3 game (like batman or assassin's creed 2) that I still feel the urge to buy the 360 version instead.
Well, it's not like trophies/achievements are everything. The better online system, interface, party system on 360 also helps my decision.
You haven't given a coherent reason as to why achievements are better than trophies. Thats why I say it's idiotic to say one is inferior when the only reasons you have given are the sound it makes when the achievement is activated and that you like a number better than a level ... those are preferences not indicators of inferiority or superiority ... The reason I say trophies are a little better is because they are an improved version of achievements. This is why independent metrics like True Skill for the 360 exist because a gamer score doesn't quantify the level of skill behind the score like the medal system does. When you see a gamer score it's an aggregate total of everything where as a trophy card is broken down by a level system (like online games) and includes how many bronze, silver, gold and platinum trophies have been accrued.
You have this tendency as confusing your opinion with fact. Also, you saying "me and many other people" is the same as Fox News saying "some people say ..." because it's not objective and is there under the guise of giving your opinion more credibility by associating it with perceived popular opinion.
I think most people prefer the achievement system because they started there first. Maybe they already had a large score built up and would rather add to that instead of switching to trophies after having such a large gamer score.
I don't have an xbox so, correct me if i'm wrong: I prefer the trophy system because it saves a record of what i have accomplished, while on the xbox achievements system, every accomplishment becomes part of a point score so, in the end, it doesn't matter what you have done, you can play tons of easy games and accumulate lots of points, just the same of that guy that beat an incredibly hard game or done a very difficult challenge.
For that reason, i believe the Trophy system is more rewarding, But i wish you could convert those points into currency for Home and unlock PSN bonuses each time you scored a level, for instance.
I don't care about most trophies, but I have trophy hunting friends. Only a few trophies showcase dedication and skill like the plats for Wipeout and Warhawk.
There is no sense of accomplishment in winning a Trophy made up of Pixels. It is about as useful as slamming your hand inbetween two bricks. -Confucius
I'm Crazy... you are vidikron... yuk yuk yuk... listen... home is hurting and having some home based incentive system via trophies could up the numbers. Collecting trophies imho is just as pointless as wandering around home for hours...im not paying to give my guy a new t-shirt in home or a new pad. But, if a platinum trophy produced a new wardrobe, dance move (lol), hamster suit, bachelor pad etc, in home. id be more likely to do it....its like a leveling up system. Reply
A question regarding a trophy for Dead Space: Will I be able to get the "plasma cutter only" award using the plasma cutter from the downloadable Heavy Weapons pack? I guess I will have to use the normal plasma cutter till I get to the first store and pick up the downloaded one so will that still count as one weapon?
Btw, the reason I want the heavy weapons pack is because I will try and get the trophy for the hardest difficulty level in the same go. And because I want to support the publisher for an awesome game. ;)
