Stop what you're doing and listen to the Nintendo Mixtape
Doing yard work? Put down the rake. In the middle of intense litigation? Drop it. Giving birth? Hold it in. Whatever you're doing, you need to stop right now and listen to the Nintendo Mixtape. Created by New York hip hop group, No Question? (warning: MySpace link), the Got Game? album sets all of its tracks to mixes of 8-bit Nintendo music and phat beats. And it's awesome. We suggest you start with "Double Dragons" -- we've embedded its video after the break. For those at work, keep in mind that the video and some lyrics are a tad inappropriate. That said, if your boss hears this and does anything other than give you a promotion on the spot, he has no soul.
Oh, and the entire album can be yours for the reasonable price of nothing. Yeah, you're welcome.

i love hip hop but... these guys just ruined a classic...
SecretAgentHam @ Aug 12th 2009 1:11PM
would have been better left as an instrumental.
Wiizer (MW2 Sweatshop Entrepreneur) @ Aug 12th 2009 1:07PM
WARNING: MYSPACE LINK
Haha, love that.
vidGuy @ Aug 12th 2009 1:29PM
To me, that warning means: "Do not click. You will either get a piece of spyware or will be annoyed to death."
uncle jesse @ Aug 12th 2009 1:09PM
This would be way cooler if it was just the classic theme music remixed. I like the music but all that rapping over it ruins it for me. You got me way too excited after reading the write-up, Joystiq.
Anthology @ Aug 12th 2009 3:17PM
I wouldn't mind the rapping if it weren't "DERP DERP I AM SO GANGSTER I SMOKE WEED" rapping. :/
uncle jesse @ Aug 12th 2009 3:18PM
Yeah. I wouldn't mind the rapping if it was rapping...
Jerk Face @ Aug 12th 2009 1:10PM
That's pretty fucking good.
kyou @ Aug 12th 2009 1:13PM
This is horrible. I mean, I guess it's alright if you like Hip Hop and stuff, but for those with a bit of taste it's just torture.
Josh @ Aug 12th 2009 1:29PM
There's a difference between good hip hop and bad hip hop.
I haven't listened to this enough to know which it is, but there is certainly very good hip hop out there.
NoughtSoClever @ Aug 12th 2009 1:33PM
Anyone who thinks they don't like hip hop from the stuff they hear on the radio should check out Aesop Rock.

"but for those with a bit of taste"
You sound like a huge douchebag.
norm @ Aug 12th 2009 2:26PM
I think it's real classy when he says 'let me see those chinky eyes'
xtremeholymuffin @ Aug 12th 2009 4:31PM
Hip-hop can be classy as hell!

So by taste do mean you only listen to Chopin whilst drinking fine wine? Or do you mean it takes taste to listen to all the other genres out there that millions of other morons like you listen too? Genius comes in all flavors and hip-hop is just one of them, dont hate cause you can't/won't/don't understand.
Matisyahu Serious @ Aug 12th 2009 7:28PM
"but for those with a bit of taste"
sounds like you've communicated your amount of taste perfectly, slim.
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Aug 12th 2009 1:15PM
I'm not a fan of hip-hop, but I thought it was pretty good.
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Aug 12th 2009 1:20PM
I... did not like it.
I would elaborate, but this IS the internet. Nobody would re-consider anyway.
JNub @ Aug 12th 2009 1:23PM

I'm gonna do what any true blue Giants fan would do and tell Tom Brady he sucks balls.
KarminskyDaniel @ Aug 12th 2009 1:25PM
Didn´t get the reference...sb plz xplain
LadiesMan217 @ Aug 12th 2009 7:18PM
There is no reference - its just saying that its a myspace link.. you probably dont get it cause you use myspace too much and your brain is numb.
Joel @ Aug 12th 2009 1:31PM
This would have been hot instrumental, Nintendubs is still best.
KarminskyDaniel @ Aug 12th 2009 1:28PM
Didn´t get the reference...sb plz xplain
Killer7 @ Aug 12th 2009 1:46PM

Thanks, Joystiq. My boss just gave me a promotion, because he saw this.

Thanks, Joystiq. My boss just fired me, because he saw this. (He's a Sega fanboy)

What the fuck is this shit?
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC Vice President and PR of Wiizers Sweatshop Inc.) @ Aug 12th 2009 2:43PM
Sweet Fucking Palutena, that video is unbearable.
kompakter @ Aug 12th 2009 1:41PM
Have to agree with the instrumental idea. I really love a lot of hip-hop MUSIC, but the rapping almost always ruins it for me. Give me the instrumental versions, and I'm on board.
Mr Khan @ Aug 12th 2009 1:41PM
Yikes.
cheetabrad @ Aug 12th 2009 1:42PM
Meh, that was pretty annoying. A for effort.
Heavytoka @ Aug 12th 2009 1:43PM
That was straight garbage
freshhooker @ Aug 12th 2009 1:44PM
Also...
An older track, about 10 years ago. Still classic.

Yeah, they did a whole album. It's called Game Over. Pretty cool stuff on there.
MRLN, Fountain of Monumental and Beautiful and Otherwise Ineffable Wit and Wisdom @ Aug 12th 2009 1:49PM
I did not understand what they were saying, nor what the video was about, nor how Double Dragons fit in there.
Besides those ape-men. They were okay.
Seasick Pirate @ Aug 12th 2009 2:07PM
The video was VERY Mark 'Romanek-ian'
I did it.
The song I give a * * * out of 5
nickux @ Aug 12th 2009 2:14PM
I love chiptunes so I definitely appreciate the beats they made. "Kabuki" turned out to be my favorite track and- surprise it has no rapping on top. I don't like hip hop too much. Its ok but I do find it really funny how put-together the whole culture has become.
