Speaking at the Edinburgh Interactive Conference this week, Peter Moore explained how EA Sports changed its business strategy in order to address a growing female demographic. According to Moore, the arrival of the Wii changed everything, thanks to its focus on gameplay over graphics. "We didn't even have arms any more, never mind superior graphics," says more, adding that games "became more about getting up off the couch." This led EA Sports to change its business model.
Moore notes that EA pulled in $150 million "by talking to the female consumer and providing a solution to someone who perhaps can't get to a gym, or afford one, through EA Sports Active." He adds that it's "not only great business" for EA, but it's "changing people's lives through a game." He concludes that EA is "delighted" to be talking to girls and women.
We'll bet the company is delighted. So delighted that it "indefinitely" delayed the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions Grand Slam Tennis in order to push out an expansion for EA Sports Active.

I take it you've been doing some espionage on Nintendo to find out just how they are able to print so much money?

Peter Moore is a smart man. Leaving the limited, capped audience the 360 inherently brings along with it with it's 3 genre platform, going to a 3rd party Publisher/developer making some of the most successful line ups of games for the most successful console out.

Darn you Peter Moore. You think you're so suave with the ladies. But I'm the one with the charm! Me! I am! Me! Darn you son of a gun!

Is it still jarring to anyone else but me to hear Peter Moore tout the Wii? to even say who needs "superior graphics"? Lol. I guess everyone's the same, it's just all business. If Sony hires Reggie, he'd be dissing the wii's graphics. If Ninty hires Stringer, then he'd be calling the ps3 a $600 brick of a blu-ray player. And the fanboys will think hell froze over.

Look moore real gamer girls (not soccer mom and the like) don't play the wii that much because it lacks quality games (there are a few but not as many as 360 or hell even the DS). This sports shit isn't even a game really it's an exercise program on the wii. PR is PR and it piss' me off when dill holes say the wii has a lot of gamer girls, their not gamers if they play wii sports, EA sports active, etc.

May i be the first to point out a glaring flaw with the female sports game strategy. Females are not the as interested in in sports as guys!!! When the hell was the last time you heard of a lass that went off to the pub to watch the football?
Seriously has Moore ever met a girl? make games for the female market about things they actually give a shit about. Its like saying "Oh well lots of women have read war and peace, there for it appeals to the female market and i should make more war novels to sell to women" no give them Jane Austen!! Seriously the games industry needs to get rid of all the old dinosaurs that run it

Funny, I thought all a girl needed was to cook, clean, and shut up to be happy. Learn something new everyday.

Oh FFS.
It's not about getting up off the couch, you choad. It's not about shopping, or pet simulators, either. Study after study has shown that women are more likely to buy and play games that don't objectify them.

yes. it did. So did BG&E. Women games love these games.
Hell, it doesn't even need a female protagonist. Legend of Zelda does gangbusters with women gamers because they don't treat Zelda like some trophy p****y.
