I hope by "professional sounding music" they aren't referring to whatever was playing in the background.

Kinda reminded me of Music & Music 2000 (or 3000?) on the PS1/PS2, which I enjoyed. In fact I have my creations on a memory card somewhere. Might be worth digging out, considering the state of the chart lately.

I may have to check into this. Kids need more games like this that encourages creativity. I just hope that the interface isn't too complicated.

I agree. I grew up on Mario Paint and I turned out pretty creative myself. It's rare that gems like that ever surface on todays consoles.

I liked makin beats with mtv beat generator for ps1, but I will never give another of these apps a chance until they finally decide to let you export your music!!! What's the point if you can't use the beat you just spent hours on??

I agree with Faceman,if you want an easy program to make beats with i would recomend FL studio, its loop based sequencing software which is what beaterator is only you will have to source your own samples to make anything half decent.

If you have a bit of money to spare, I'd suggest picking up Reason 4.0.
It's hands down one of the best tools you can get your hands on to create beats or any other form of music really. Just like with FL, you probably want to get your hands on some more soundbanks or preferably your own samples.

Agreed with both of you guys.

They're both quality programs, though you'll probably approach your projects in different ways. IMO FL Studio seems much easier to get into for beginners, but the depth there is really surprising once you're willing to put in the time. With Reason, I kinda feel like you don't have to dig far to find what you're looking for but it can seem kinda overwhelming at first. I myself like to jump between the two. Lately I've been dabbling with Ableton but that's a major resource hog on my system. :(

Orion platinum is also quite good. But I have a feeling we are missing something by bringing out the names of these big computer apps. Many things, actually.

1. None of the apps mentioned here can fit on a portable device rendering all discussions about it in relation to this app a completely fucking moronic douchy move akin to idiots who troll GH news articles with "Why don't you learn a REAL guitar, fucking losers."

2. If one was actually going to PAY for the programs mentioned here, which odds are, we weren't even remotely discussing legitimate users, we're talking $100 at the cheapest, Reason, I believe, is $400. Beatarator isn't priced at that point nor are they designed to compete.

In other words, if you want a quick and portable beat generator to get something out while you're away from your studio, that's what this is for. Or as an introduction to the bigger apps. But if you're trying to say a $400 suite is going to be more versatile and in depth than a $30 PSP game, fucking duh. Seriously, die in a fire.

As long as people don't start calling themselves "producers" on myspace, cause they played around with this longer then half an hour, I'm cool with it.

Yes, because laying out premade loops in an app like this and creating a fairly unique sound as you get better is SOMEHOW less deserving of that pretentious that 99% of the Fruity Loops worthless fucks doing the same thing with soundloaded banks on a bigger computer.

Remember kids, money invested is 100% the legitimizer of musical talent, so says MystileArmor. And don't let the millions upon millions of really shitty techno on the net created by a computer and a lazy jackoff dissuade this notion.

I'll change the name Beatertor, it doesn't sound quite right, sounds like a masturbating game to me. If it wasn't for the P.Diddy art cover I would think this is something else, LOL

I have a feeling this will be VERY inferior to Traxxpad which allowed the import of samples from the MS and saved the beats in MP3 format. I wish they put Traxxpad on PSN when the GO launches. I spent hours just fucking about the portable studio.
