QuakeCon 2009: The Wolfenstein launch trailer
33
Before sharing the very first video footage of Rage with the crowd at QuakeCon today, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead shared the final piece of video marketing material for another title: the launch trailer for the Raven Software-developed Wolfenstein. Despite being in development for what seems to be an eternity (we first heard about this one-time Xbox 360 exclusive in 2005!) the game hits retail next week. Let us know if this launch trailer makes your wallet itchy.

I'm sorry. I just don't see anything too original here. Pass.

One less ignorant noob to spend ammo on. A shame you aren't a fan of RTCW because it's multiplayer component was fucking awesome and according to the devs they are brining the same Class Team Based Objective Strategic Multiplayer component RTCW had. I wish they released a Multiplayer trailer already to enlight the idiots calling Wolfenstein generic.
To me RTCW's Multiplayer set high standards.
Every map had its own unique objectives and it required cooperation with your team to win a match. The maps themselves were characters. Some maps were huge and supported 64 Players(Happy Penguin Servers).
Here's an old screen of me and my clan mates ambushing the ALlies above an elevator. When someone would walk in and press the button to go down we'd jump down surprise him and stab him while he shoots wildly at the air.

Shame RTCW died off.. my little bro's playing it right next to me ATM in one of the few populated servers.

Doesn't even look like Blascowitz.. Didn't really remind me of Wolfenstein at all. I loved Return to Castle: Wolfenstein, it was an alright game, but this is nothing like it. This is just some run of the mill over the top FPS. :/

HMM Probably because it's an updated engine. Updated engine, updated character design. I'm a hardcore fan of RTCW PC(2001).
Wolfenstein = World War II, Killing Nazis, German's Doing Research on the Occult/Super Soldiers, Zombies, Sci-Fi weapons, Treasure and Castle Wolfenstein. I'm a fan off all of the above.
I'll be picking it up on PC and PS3 for Trophies.

honestly not one trailer is SMOOTH! i cant even trust this game enough to rent it. i know my frame rates, and honestly that movie has to be at 16 fps some times it just doesn't look ever perfected and polished.

Might just be Joystiq's buggy video player. The FPS seems to drop on every video they post using it... At least for me it does.

I think it's just because they add some slow mo effects to the trailer. I downloaded the HD version and it does get a bit choppy but again I think it's just 'cause they added slow mo effects.

We all have to buy it, due to the fact that if we do so and end up making it sell more than Madden, we all get the money back, and then if we don't want the game, we trade it in at our local used games and books and things store and get 45-50 bucks more... 2 games for za price of uno.

You know, I really wish Wolfenstein would get a 'REAL' sequel. I'm talking about the classic stick figure game... I mean seriously FPS are fine... but when I think of Wolfenstein I think fondly of that little stick figure with digitized voiced Nazis and blood curdling screams from the old Apple II Muse production. Sure it was cheap by todays standards... but come on you could disguise yourself as a Nazi, hold them up, kill them and search their bodies while you made your escape from the dreaded castle.
When Wolf3d came out you got a fun little fps, comical etc, but it lacked the detail of sneaking around corners evading lookouts and guards. Return to Castle Wolfenstein I had this hope we would see deeper gameplay than a normal shooter - maybe a return of getting a Nazi uniform and avoiding confrontation while delving into the underlining story of your mission. But no... it was another shooter.
This is just another shooter in the same line of the previous games. Nothing really earth shattering. I mean hell, it will be fun for a simple FPS - but what ever happened to innovation? I know it's not innovative to toss in the things used in Muse's original version of the game, but wouldn't it add to this game? Sure graphics are fine and dandy, but can we please have some more depth to a game about Nazis? Come on it would be awesome to steal a uniform and wander the complex finding a target you have to take out. Go up to them and when asked about your passcode or something similar, to gun them down and search their bodies for items that you can use later to get by. Hell insert an option to hide bodies so your intrusion would go unnoticed... I'm kind of sick and tired of 'one man against an onslaught of badguys' with nothing between him and well ... whatever special weapon he finds on the way to get the upper hand. It would be nice to actually do heroic espionage and gunning in Wolfenstein again.

wait its not out yet?
my friend has it right now and i played it. kinda blah game tho. using the "veil" to slow time and see hidden doors. and the bosses ect are weak. i was playing in a church level with a particle gun, and had to destroy a experimental nazi project. some gyroscope looking thing.

Older ID titles didnt have a talking main character. Consider yourself blessed. At least he doesn't say something like "I need a weapon."

Good to see them really stretching themselves. Haven't seen a corridor-shooter-with-mutants in, oh, ages.
Excuse me, I'll just go back to Bioshock and other games which at least TRIED to do something different.

What are you talking about have you not seen the Veil ability. This has never been done in any previous Wolfenstein game. This game is for Wolfenstein fans primarily.
The reason people play Wolfenstein games is like I stated in another comment:
Wolfenstein = World War II, Killing Nazis, German's Doing Research on the Occult/Super Soldiers, Zombies, Sci-Fi weapons, Treasure and Castle Wolfenstein.
Though they were trying to make Wolfenstein an open world game it ended up being scrapped to make this.

no worries old Wolfenstein and RTCW buddies. These guys hatin on our old beloved Wolfenstein are the same people that jizz at the sight of the new Halo game coming out....

Why do people keep equating this with RTCW? They are two different games... as in, that one may have been good but this one looks like it's going to be terrible.
Sorry, man. You and your "old Wolfenstein and RTCW buddies" are not going to be enough to keep this game above water if it sucks (and it looks like it will).
You all just might end up drowning with it.

Can someone educate me? It feels like this game's story is exactly like DOOM.
You know portal, demons, destroy the world.
Except its on Earth and not on Mars.

I played the beta and it's bad. There's nothing that stands out from all the other generic shooters like it. I've seen bosses in MMO's with less health than they give you in this. The veil is pointless and adds nothing to multiplayer. Animation frame rates are locked at 30ps as well so at higher frame rates you look like you've got some sort of muscle spasm disorder. Oh, and it looks like crap. I'd go as far as to say COD2 looks better
Unless there's a drastic change in the final build then I don't think anything can save it now.
