Uncharted, SOCOM Confrontation going Greatest Hits on August 16

According to a recent Sony press release, two more best-selling PS3 titles are getting the ol' "Red Box" treatment. Beginning Sunday, August 16, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation (sans headset) will reach "Greatest Hits" status, dropping their respective MSRPs down to a reasonable $29.99.

Fans of the SOCOM series will likely be thrilled about Confrontation's markdown -- but every self-respecting PS3 owner needs to have Uncharted in their collection. Now that you can make that happen with just a Hamilton and a Jackson, you've really got no reason to go without.

I just bought Uncharted from ebay 3 days ago for $40, I'm pissed.

Why are you pissed? Yeah you could of saved ten bucks, but Uncharted it totally worth it!

It's shipping from Hong Kong, and if they had announced it with the last two Greatest Hits, I could've got it locally and saved some money.

@Heavy actually that includes shipping. So it's not too bad, I'm just mad cause after the last two Greatest Hits were announced I wasn't expecting anymore for months. But I also found Red Alert 3 from the same seller for $35 too.

You should be pissed that you missed out on probably the best gaming experience in this gen for so many months

shouldn't take you 2 years to get that shit anyway. it was a "day one" as you losers like to say. how long will it be before you get uncharted 2? 4 years?

@globulus It's called having a life with responisibilities. After gas, food, bills and rent, $60 suddenly seems like a lot. We cant all mooch off our mommies forever. ;)

you feel the 8 hours of the uncharted campaign were the greatest moments in gaming history this generation so far?

have u played mass effect, fallout 3, MGS4, etc this gen yet ?

for so many of US, well me, spending $ 60 on a single player 8 hour campaign was not worth the money.

but $ 60 to play fallout 3 for 100+ hours or mass effect for 40 hours or COD campaign + online for 20 hours seem much more worthwhile to me.

however for half the price, the offer sounds much more inviting.

remember only about 1/10th of the ps3 population has already purchased the game.

now uncharted 2, with a campaign and online play is going to offer us a much more worthwhile experience for $ 60.00

i still need the official headset, was going to order socom this week just for it too. i guess i'll wait a bit longer to see if ten bucks or so is knocked off. already had uncharted

Amazon has the headset for 43 bucks, haven't seen cheaper anywhere else yet.

Or wait a few more months for MAG to come out, I'd be shocked if they don't bundle a headset with the game.

i got socom and the headset for $30. then i sold socom for $10. it's a very nice headset.

i've been using the headset i got for my cell and the usb one i got with socom 2. i just want the game because my dad is into socom more than me, i think he still plays socom 2, and confrontation might be a game we could play together. MAG is looking good for that also.

MAG has been delayed to 2010. So I guess you could wait a few more few more months.

Will the greatest hit version retain the half tuck or have the new 3/4 tuck?

Woot! Been waiting for Uncharted to drop to $30 so I could play it. I loved the demo but I didn't want to spend $60 on a ~10 hour game that I would likely only play through once. But, I didn't want to buy the game used either as I wanted to make sure that Naughty Dog received compensation for my purchase as they deserve it.

Reminds me, I need to try SOCOM again. A lot of the criticism about the game probably no longer holds true. My first game in the series, heard great things about it and the level of tactics and team play involved.
Just went through the Uncharted cutscenes again on Youtube. Brilliant, feel like playing it again. And its one game where I like the 2 sidekicks more than the lead character, so relieved that Sully and Elena are back. Somehow, the new lady character in Uncharted 2 is a bit dislikeable.

Yay, I can finally buy it now. And yes, I did wait until MGS4 became GH to buy it, too. I got a PS3 after both those games came out, and I couldn't bring myself to buy 'old' games for full price....from now on I'm getting everything right away xD

Everyone should experience the greatness that is Uncharted. Glad to see a lot of new people considering picking it up.

Uncharted took long enough, should have been with the initial batch.

I guess they had to wait for Infamous to come out. They didn't want the best game out for the system to be a Greatest Hits.

I was wondering why Uncharted's price was dropped by $12 on Gamefly

with the 1.5 patch coming out for socom in the next 2 weeks it's totally worth it, but seems like you could pick it up much cheaper allready.

Does any1 else hate the new red boxes? They'd look so cool if the box was a darker red or if the letters were painted black.

If you don't like the red boxes I've noticed that Amazon will sometimes have the original box available at the greatest hits price just before the greatest hits version is released. It happened with Assassin's Creed and Ratchet and Clank. I got both of those for $30 each in their original cases from Amazon.
