Earlier today, Kotaku reported everyone's favorite animal lover (sarcasm, ahoy!) could make his way into Madden 10 via an update. See, yesterday he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, cementing his return to the NFL. But, since Madden 10 already shipped, many wondered if he would even be in the game.
Enter: Rob Semsey, EA's resident dude to pass all Madden questions to, who told Kotaku that EA was trying to get him into the game and promised "an announcement in the near future." But, see, here at Joystiq, that doesn't cut the mustard, so we grilled Semsey for something more. He had this to say: "Michael Vick will be added to the Philadelphia Eagles roster in the next Madden NFL 10 roster update, pending NFLPA and NFL approvals. The next roster update will go live approximately on August 19th for Xbox 360 and PS3, with additional platforms to follow shortly thereafter." So, yes, he'll even make his way to the Wii game and, in all likelihood, we could all see Vick sporting some green as early as this Wednesday.

They've nerfed him a bit but, yes, there will definitely be those morons looking to just run around with Vick and try to force a pass or scramble for a run. Easy solution: DEs hit the flats and you spy Vick. It's not too hard to overcome a one trick pony like that. :)

OK, let me ask this. Fighting and Killing animals is not okay but Hitting and Killing a human is perfectly fine. Really, think about it Vick killed dogs yes and all together his time was 2 years and he paid millions only because they knew that he had those millions but if it was someone else, your average person he wouldn't get charged millions. Stallworth hit and killed a human because he was driving drunk. He only did 20 something days behind bars and he can't play for 1 season. Think about it, a football season is not even a year its only like 6 months so stallworth did 6 months and 20 something days while Vick did about 2 years. Makes no sence to me. Whats the difference between a killing a human and killing an animal?

big: Of course you pay more in fines if you have more money. The fine is supposed to be a deterrent to committing crimes in the first place, not a fee that you pay for the ability to break the law. If you have millions of dollars, a thousand dollar fine is not going to be very noticable. It provides hardly any dissuasion from repeating the action in the future. One that is proportional to income does not have that problem.

Where is your post saying you wont root for the Phillies either? Who signed Brett Myers for over $20 million, after people on the street had to pull him off his wife cause he was beating the shit out of her in public! Otherwise your just a hypocrite! At least be consistent.

oh and the coach says everyone deserves a second chance... um yeah in some cases when maybe out of anger or cases of a spontaneous mistake. this was not either of these. he knew it was wrong, he made all that money and should know its worth ruining your whole career. to treat innocent animals like that for fighting is just the biggest douche bag move one can do, right after fighting babies in a ring..lol

the irony of the situation is that all of the dogs taken off of his property were killed by the ASPCA. i fight dogs and trusts me when i say YOU CAN NOT REHABILITATE A FIGHTING DOG!!!!!! i dont care what animal planet says or the news. they are inbread and partiaclly retarded, there is no way to save a fighting dog.
lets move on and let this guy do what he does best!!!! play football. for the record, are you white?

I like how dogs are always "innocent" until the news runs a story about how some rottweiler/pit bull decided to sample the local human deli, in which case they become "vicious animals" that "shouldn't be allowed near humans"

Can someone explain to me how this is different then hunting/tracking a defenseless animal, and blasting it away with a rifle just for sport? Then hanging its head on a wall as a trophy. It may be different, but i need someone to explain how it is. i think both or wrong, just want to know what justifies hunting for sport over this. just curious.

When did Vick change his first name to Lucifer? You people that are saying that you liked him before the court case and subsequent conviction are the biggest hypocrites, and the darkest of sheep.
In no way can another man judge the character of another man by works alone. In fact, judgment isn't for any man ultimately. Michael has done his time, and it's over and done with.
Fighting and killing animals is a reprehensible and vile practice, but so is pretending to be without faults. If you've ever jaywalked, you've committed a crime. If you've ever taken so much as a piece of paper from work without permission, you've committed a crime. If you have a few drinks and get in your car (even without driving), you've committed a crime.
My point is this: if you want to get technical about things, every person in the world is a criminal. I'm not saying that stealing a piece of paper, jaywalking, or "intending" to drive while intoxicated are the same as (at the least) bankrolling a dog fighting ring; however all of those things are crimes and I'm betting that Vick has done more time for his crimes than most everyone reading this board has done for theirs. Deservedly so in most cases.
It's over. He's trying to move on with his life; and maybe, after two years, you should too.

Consider the fact, Chester, that many who hunt animals also eat them. Furthermore, they kill them as humanely as possible (not doing so is both cruel and can make the meat tough).
Training animals to fight each other for entertainment, then beating them yourself when they don't act as you want them to, with no regard for the well-being of the animal before, during, or after the act, is a completely different subject.

Chester, if you asked for a reasonable argument but didn't actually want one you should've kept your mouth shut along with your personal biases. I wasn't making judgment calls, I was pointing out the distinction.
Can you read? It's a national pasttime, and socially acceptable. The other is not. It's a fact. It's not arguable. Deal.

There is no sense arguing against a logical fallacy. The argument is basically "more people agree with me, so obviously I'm right". There was also a very long period in time when the world was believed to be flat as well, and that going faster than 35mph in a car would literally eviscerate your organs.
These people want to hate because they are generally unhappy; at least, that's my opinion.

no need to be an ass! I was asking a valid question and Im sorry one being socially acceptable and a pastime does not justify THE ACT!! Which is what i was asking. Maybe i wasn't clear. But i was asking what is the difference between the actions of both. NOT why is one more accepted!! Better?

Many places encourage hunting to keep the deer population down. You know, having deer end up being shot and killed in wooded areas, instead of ending up in people's backyards or dashing across roads or highways.
Last time I checked, dogs weren't causing cars to be totaled due to being hit.
I'm an animal lover, I've never hunted myself nor do I ever want to. I'm just offering the other reason people do hunt as a reason why your comparison is invalid.

The socially acceptable argument is completely baseless. There are many places in the world were animal fighting is socially acceptable, like Central America with cockfighting. Or how about India, were killing cattle is completely unacceptable, yet it is fine here. Social acceptability is not a justification for anything.
Laws are made because (supposedly) the majority of the people of a given society don't want to see that particular action. There is nothing universally wrong with any act, as there is no universal morality. You may not like or understand a given person's actions, but to them, that action might truly have not seemed wrong. The wrongness of any action changes from person to person (i.e. look at KKK members who think it is impolite to swear in front of a woman).

I could care less about the dogs to be honest. Kobe and the whole rape thing, now everyone loves him after he started winning. Since when do people care more about crimes on animals then crimes on people?
The only thing I want to see come out of this that will better the sport of football as a whole is the hope this will stop them from playing "Who let the dogs out". Granted if they play that and people all start yelling "Vick" Im going to kill everyone!

Vick financed a dog fighting ring, and he served his time.
But for all the evil things some athletes do, we're all stupid enough to like them anyways if they play good.
Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jsga_pC5ZdE
Not knocking on Kobe specifically, but speaking for the Duke Lacrosse team, Pitino and his mistress, Jordan's infidelity, NFL teams drug abuse, steroids in the MLB, etc.
We are all sheep.

crusty- PETA is the same organization that wants you to eat human milk made ice cream to ease the strain of the domesticated cows which were given a living chance on a farm to produce milk for human consumption.
they want the farmer to have cows, make no money from them, feed them and give them a place to stay for free......
all for the sake of loving animals..
they and you have to get real with reality.
