Developers these days are doing a lot to incentivize those new game purchases over their used counterparts, and Madden 10 is no exception. Those who purchased the game were supposed to receive a downloadable code for the game's "Online Franchise Mode," though reportedly, those in "regions outside of North America," specifically Australia, the UK and "other regions" are getting copies with a missing DLC code.
Panic broke out at EA's forums over the situation, but EA Sports told Joystiq this morning that a fix is on the way. "We are aware of the situation and we're working towards a solution right now," EA's Rob Semsey told us. The one-time use DLC code is supposed to be on the back of the manual in the game's box, but due to the "printing process of the manuals," some folks are getting copies without any code. Worse? The DLC has already landed on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, giving some Madden 10 owners the impression that they were expected to pay for the content -- despite having purchased a new copy on launch day.
EA says we'll get more official word on a solution "very soon," but for now we suggest following Madden 10 lead designer Ian Cummings' tweeted suggestion of calling the customer support line.

EA actually sells enough copies of this series overseas that they're still doing so to this day? I wasn't aware there were that many American football fans (or Americans living abroad) around the world to justify it. I know the game is very popular in the US and Canada, but I just figured the 5 Europeans who are into it would just import this.

There's always that problem when a code is printed on a sheet: there's a great chance it's gonna be missing in the game's case.

So how come most of the reviews neglected to mention to us that online franchise mode is still lacking many of the core features of franchise mode? They all just said it's just like the offline franchise mode, but it's not.
I mean, there's not even any player salaries/contracts or free agency in online franchise mode.

I don't think so. He had the chance to play a game for millions and gave that up for killing and beating dogs? It's not like he was there watching and betting. He was THE guy setting it up and killing the dogs. He shouldn't get a second chance at playing. Sure, I think he should be able to go back to his mansion and lead a normal life but I don't think he should be allowed to play in the NFL ever again. It's great that he did his time and gives speeches on the subject, and has brought a massive amount of attention to this problem. But the NFL should not let him back in. If you went to jail for something like this would you expect to be hired back at your old job? There's no way!
It's a shame because it pretty much guarantees a good run at the super bowl....but, I don't know one person that is excited for this. If they win with his help...it's tainted. I know this guy will get booed everywhere he goes but I can't even imagine the kind of reception this dude is gonna get here. It's gonna be bad. this is gonna be like this city's hatred for J.D. Drew, the Cowboys, and T.O. all rolled up all in one.

Maybe your right. Maybe he doesn't deserve a second chance. But i hope your consistent with your embarrassment and realize 90% of sports teams have players on their roster accused of domestic violence. I missed your post of being embarrassed to be a Philadelphian when the Phillies signed Brett Myers for over $20 million. Who beat the shit out of his wife in PUBLIC!!! Or is beating women ok? Be embarrassed to be an NFL fan when Dante Stalworth gets drunk and kills a PERSON and will most definitely be away from football for an even shorter time then Vick. What Vick did was 100% wrong, but athletes do things in my opinion that are much worse to other human beings, yet are cheered everyday! Thats embarrassing!

NFL players before Vick have raped and assaulted women, carried illegal guns around, and have done other ridiculous things they shouldn't have but they went along with a slap on the wrist. Killing dogs is certainly morally questionable but the man did do his time (even PETA, one of the worst organizations on the planet, mentioned that). I'm just surprised the Eagles would want to have Vick on their team - that could give off the wrong image.

Ray Lewis straight up stabs a guy, Kobe "allegedly" rapes a girl, Michael Irvin gets arrested numerous times for drug possession and even tried to stab one of his own teammates in the neck-"Oh everyone deserves a second chance!"
Michael Vick gets convicted of leading a dog fighting ring- "HE SHOULD BE DRAGGED OUT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, SHOT IN BOTH KIDNEYS, AND THEN HAVE HIS BODY GANG RAPED WHILE HE SLOWLY DIES"

I couldn't agree with you more about the brett myers thing and all of the others. but here's the thing. Those dogs....can't defend themselves like the human victims of the other offenders. And that's where the angry public comes in. His fault, not ours.

I find it interesting that you guys keep bringing out all these other athletes who've done terrible things as though people here are defending them. Nobody is. Saying Michael Vick shouldn't be allowed to play in the NFL doesn't mean that nobody cares about all these other athletes' crimes, it just means they're talking about Vick right now. The fact that other people are scumbags doesn't excuse Vick from being a scumbag, and it doesn't absolve him of his sins.
That said, I have no real opinion on the matter, though I'm not surprised that the Eagles have taken him regardless of the public image problems. It's certainly not without precedent.

i can agree with that!
@ Ravnos
You might be missing the point. Nobody has said it excuses him or anyone else from acting like a "scumbag". I think the argument here is more the out right hate and vilification of Michael Vick is far harsher than other athletes received when doing in my opinion, much worse crimes. Thats how i interpret this.

@Chester: I can kind of see that, but you also have to remember that animal abuse generally arouses a disproportionate level of anger in people in general. I regularly see news stories about a dog or cat that was attacked by teens and the public calls for blood, but when, say, a bus driver is attacked the same level of vitriol isn't there. It's an emotional issue for a lot of people, and Vick happens to be on the wrong side of it.

I'm not debating which is worse between killing dogs and raping and beating women...
like I said I think people go nuts over the vick case because dogs can't stand up for themselves. if Brett Myers' wife would rather take a huge payday instead of pressing charges and demanding he be put in jail or fired from his job than that's on her. she can take care of herself.

Toooo many of you just sound like idiots, for real, and even have the nerve to soap box. The man served his time FOR DOG FIGHTING. I understand that it's inhumane but I don't put that on the level of domestic abuse, assaults and other acts AGAINST HUMANS YET for some reason, many of you wanna talk ish as if he did do something against another human saying he should be banned for life or other stupidness.
Let it go and stop being hypocrites. If YOU did something illegal, got caught, served time, and wanted to have the right to earn a living JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE, you would be singing a different tune. Don't believe me? Goto prison for a bit and try to get a regular job. Feel that pain and frustration of NOT getting jobs to support yourself and/or your family because companies don't wanna hire u and u end up collecting trash or working at a dock. The diff here is Vick is lucky enough to be employed by the NFL and can easily get a second chance. Let him prove himself. If he effs up again, so be it, but I doubt he will.

it's BS that they do that anyway, just a cheap way to try to destroy the secondhand market just like digital distribution, put the content in the game or don't include it at all

I am so sick of these nickel n dime DLC, by far Madden is the worst from everything I've read. It's as if the series doesn't sell enough! Substantial DLC that come way after release such as in Fallout 3 I can accept. But having stuff like this available at launch, I just can't accept it.

They're not charging people who bought the game new for the code, they're giving it to them for free.
The code is only there so people who buy it used from Gamestop will have to spend an extra $10 or whatever for that feature, which IMO was a smart move from a developer/publisher standpoint.

I am in the US and receiving the same problem. It appears my code was printed with only 4 of the 5 sets of characters. That's probably why yours isn't working either. When you enter the code in the dashes should match up so the screen and printed code match.

Which was awesome by the way, everyone could just say they bought it and Microsoft mailed you the extra stuff for free. I used my employee discount on the standard edition for $50 on release, and got all the content of the $70 limited retail price.

Which pisses me off because I paid $10 extra for something that was free to everyone. All I ended up getting was a special white sleeve for the game and a retarded DVD (which had a video that told us to take pictures with our hobbe figures that we also DIDN'T GET) for my extra money

Exactly, it's absolute bullshit that Stallworth gets only 30 days in prison and suspended for a year.
Personally, I think his career should be over.

"Huge" is relative, I guess. NFL Europa folded in 2007, and was largely considered a joke by fans of the sport, and the GFL posts attendance figures lower than many NHL games. In fact, I attended a regular season CFL game just last night with over twice the attendance of the last GFL championship game. In the UK, the Britbowl was moved to a smaller capacity stadium after being bumped from Don Valley by a regular season game from a fourth-tier football (soccer) club. I don't want to put down the teams or fans in Europe, gridiron football is a great game and I'm glad to see it played and supported abroad, but it's very much a niche game outside of North America. But then I guess in a way it's like soccer over here, where most people who are into it support teams in the world's top leagues (such as the English Premier League) and ignore more local stuff (like MLS) as third-rate.

Yeah, the domestic leagues aren't massive by any stretch. I wasn't trying to say there's some rival leagues doing massive numbers. Still, there's solid support for the NFL, hence why Sky Sports got into the habit of showing triple-headers last season, plus more if you count the interactive alternates.
