Jim Ward is best known for being the no-nonsense president of LucasArts from 2004 to 2008 -- a period where the company seemed to dust itself off, and start making good games again. His claim to fame might change in the near future, however -- he's currently running to represent Arizona's 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2010 Congressional Election.
Ward's fairly conservative viewpoints are evident in his campaign website, but regardless of how you feel about his policies, he's got to be a staunch supporter of the gaming industry. Plus, he might just be the only person who can push legislation through mandating the re-release of Day of the Tentacle.

Considering he seems to like things in sets of two, it is a good possibility

The photo is too clean or maybe I'm too used to Tower Hamlets. Either way, I'm reminded of those sanitised Wii adverts which are omnipresent at certain times of the day.

Wasn't Jim Ward the one who ultimately canceled Sam and Max 2?

-Cancelled Sam and Max 2
-Single-handedly killed LucasArts adventure games until the next guy stepped in
-Rushed KOTOR II so that what would be an AMAZING RPG was cut WAY short
And now, we can add "Politician" to the list of wretched, unforgivable sins.

Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily call this guy "no-nonsense." For every good thing he did, it seemed like he fucked three things up.

Are Arizonans likely to put a California transplant into office? Last I heard (which admittedly was a while back), Arizonans were concerned with Californians moving to AZ and making it just like the place they left. This would seem to play into that.

In all my years of getting on the phone with game execs (that would be 7, thanks to an absurd foray into game advertising), I have never encountered someone quite as boorish and self-important as Jim Ward. He'll fit right in in Congress.

Jim Ward: I was the president of Lucasarts in the period just before it started to recover from the dumb actions of it's previous president.

Jim Ward was hated by the Lucasarts fan community, the idea that he was responsible for a turn around in the company is a load of rubbish.
He was also according to company whispers pushed out of his post due to his failings.
He also told Lucasarts employees internally and former externally that they would never do a Monkey Island game again, Ward was a plague on a company formally known for creativity.

It was a cool idea that never got off the ground, but the idea stuck in my head. After I left LucasArts, I still wanted to do a Monkey Island game but Jim Ward said Lucas would never do one again
