Serious Sam is classic shoot anything that moves gameplay. No complicated story line just witty (ok mostly stupid) remarks from our hero and lots of bad guys to make go boom.

its been ages since a good balls-to-the-wall electric paced shooter came out. moden shooters have more gone down the route of slow paced army games and snipe-fests.

and the games that try to emulate the great speed demons of the past fall dreadfully short (punisher im looking at you)

UT3 is fast but not a patch on the original UT. its a good game but new game types encourage strategic thinking and the death matches i used to play on the original used to have fighting right on the brink of my abilites. it was intense. i havent felt that with another UT since

well there was painkiller overdose. that game was just freaking insane demon shooting drug induced crazy shooter that is possibly the most intense (although semi bad) game i've ever played. even more than the original UT which was still awesome

True, all recent FPS are about "cover & shoot" which clearly slower the pace of the action on screen.
There's nothing better than blasting averything like in PainKiller.

Serious Sam HD will kick ass!

Oh my god.
A trailer or gameplay preview of a multiplataform title being done on a PC?? (read, with keyboard and mouse). That made my day.
Either that or the guy is a pro a gamepad with such turning speeds and precision.

I've loved the first two serious sam for its insane monster counts and equally funny monster gibbing, so this will probably be day one when it comes out (on the PC that is).
Lets hope they keep the split screen function, I had a blast with the friends when playing 4 player coop.

Serious Sam was the first FPS that I ever played with a mouse and keyboard. What a way to learn, too. Very intense. ^_^

no, you can tell, no matter how god someone is with dual analogues, if its a kb+m or not. Take this video, for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOKnoP11wXg

That's actually on a Playstation 2... but you can tell right off the bat that he's not using dual analogues. That's actually a controller that replaces the right stick with a trackball. Everyone scoffs at the idea of a trackball, but when you're replacing a stick with it for aiming a gun on a controller, well, the video is proof - you can tell it offers a realm of accuracy that can't be achieved with a stick.

I wish someone would release a controller like it. Splitfish (who does the mouse and nunchuck controllers "FragFX") was making one, and then just stopped. Bit of a tangent, yes, but you can totally tell when someone's using a controller from the video feed :)

Looks amazing. Too bad there's no footage of the monstrous final boss. Curious to see his upgrades.

I remember loving Serious Sam the first encounter and getting bored with the second encounter and giving up halfway through.

I'll probably replay the first one in HD. Wonder how well it'll hold up.

Lol at generic music, but +11 for gameplay. Scorpions with lasers? Count me in.

Graphics wise it looks awesome as well.
Unless this is 800 points, it's between this and Shadow Complex.

Hate to post again, but does anyone know if you buy a game you already own again that's in a pack, can you gift it? Cause, I want TF classic and Opposing Force, and they're cheaper in a pack with HL 1, HL 1 Blue Shift but I already own those. :D

as digi below said, it's Requiem For a Dream - Clint Mansell... however it was also remixed as Requiem For a Tower and used in the Two Towers movie trailer.

that's where it got really popular... and has since been used in (among other things) Assasin's Creed, LOTR video games, Halo 2, Halo 3, and many many movie trailers.

Sorry the song is not called Requiem for a Dream, it's called Lux Aeturna. You're right about everything else, including the version used in the Two Towers trailer but the song is called Lux Aeturna.

The movie the song comes from is called Requiem for a Dream and is an absolutely amazing film, but the song is not the same name as the movie

Sorry as I said in reply to an above post, the song is in fact called Lux Aeterna (I spelt it wrong in the above comment) and not Requiem for a Dream. The (fantastic) movie the song comes from is called Requiem for a Dream but not the song.

As much as I love Serious Sam, this doesn't look that much better. I mean playing the game on "HD" is nothing new on the PC. I was hoping for a more comprehensive texture/model/engine update.

well, the HD moniker is just for the console kiddies, but think about it for a second, the first game was on the Serious Engine, as well as Second Encounter, then SS2 was on the Serious Engine 2, which was different looking, and this is Serious Engine 3... That's two full graphics engine revisions since the first game came out. There's more to it than resolution. Admittedly, it looks far more improved in certain areas than others (foliage looks awesome, desert looks about the same), but I saw some low-res textures in there too, so maybe they just aren't done converting the old content to match the new engine.

In short: Serious Sam in 1024x768 should still look very outdated compared to Serious Sam HD in 1024x768 (or whatever the "720p" resolution is, which is probably what it will output).

wow... it looks just like i remember. But thats still a good thing.

But they don't even show it when it gets REALLY CRAZY! When you have hundreds of monsters streaming at you non stop from every direction.

PS/ Those bulls have to be one of the best FPS bad guys ever... so much fun, and scary at the beginning.

the entire game is pretty much satire, so I think the selection is very fitting for the trailer. There's even a reference in the first Serious Same game on Duke Nukem Forever, about how Duke was supposed to save the world but never got around to it. I think Duke's skeleton was under a tree or something.

My mind is absolutely boggled by the positive response I'm reading above. It's got to be the nostalgia factor, which I don't have. Missed the original along the way. It doesn't look horrendous by any means; but it DOES look like I would never spend sixty bucks on it.

I say that about almost every FPS, they're generic beyond generic. Serious Sam though had something a little different, and that was the pant-shitting factor.

Seeing as it is an XBLA/DD game, you probably won't have to pay more than $15. Could and should easily go for $20 though.

Oh, shit! It's an XBLA title? That changes things quite a bit.

For $20 or less, that is a well polished, good dumb fun looking shooter.

Man, glad someone said that!

Jerk Face, you have no idea how fun this game is dude. It's just pure ridiculous fun. The game gives you insane weapons and ammo, and you're like, holy shit, I could decimate my computer from the inside out with this arsenal, and then it throws a couple hundred enemies at you all at once. It's just really really fun.

Judging from the accolades you kids are giving it, and the fact that it's only fifteen bones; I'll bite the bait for sure. I've spent that on worse.
